Most visitors never see inside Moulin Rouge as a building, only as a show, because the cabaret opens to the public for performances and I found no daytime visit. This page works as a Moulin Rouge map and a running order: first the streets and stations around Place Blanche, then the evening in the order it happens, with a note on each stage. Your seat depends on your ticket, so my guide to tickets for the Moulin Rouge shows which options add dinner, a cruise or transport.

The theatre stands at 82 Boulevard de Clichy, 75018 Paris, at the end of Rue Blanche in Pigalle. Blanche is the nearest metro station, about 80 metres away on foot by my estimate, which is straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 at 4.8 km per hour. Place de Clichy is about 430 metres away, Pigalle about 570 metres and Abbesses about 600 metres. Check the RATP site for current lines and works.
I searched for an official floor plan and could not find one. The official venue page lists the main room and one smaller space but shows no layout, and the FAQ states there is no fixed seating plan. So there is no official map to link, and I will not draw a seating chart I cannot verify. What I can give you is the order of the evening, built from the official FAQ and the listings.
The Evening Inside Moulin Rouge in Order
This is what happens inside Moulin Rouge walls from the pavement to the last bow. I have left out times on the diagram, because the official figures apply to the doors and the show, not to every step, and the rest depends on your package.

The Windmill and the Street Outside
The red windmill is the one part you can see without a ticket, and it is the only view of the Moulin Rouge that is not inside Moulin Rouge walls. It is a landmark of the boulevard, and Wikipedia says the cabaret opened on 6 October 1889, per Wikipedia. The sails fell onto the street on 25 April 2024 with no injuries and were restored in July 2024. Photograph it before you go inside Moulin Rouge doors, since photography in the venue is forbidden. If you only want the building and its neighbourhood, a walking tour is the cheaper way, and one starts in front of Blanche station.

Doors open 1 hour 15 minutes before each show and close 10 minutes before it begins, per the official FAQ. That is about 6:45 pm for the 7 pm dinner, 8:15 pm for the 9 pm revue and 10:45 pm for the 11 pm revue. Latecomers can be refused. The dress code is elegant attire, and men may not wear shorts, flip-flops, running shoes, sportswear or open shoes.
The cloakroom costs 2 euros per item and the FAQ strongly recommends it for coats. Backpacks, suitcases and large luggage are accepted neither in the theatre nor in the cloakroom, so travel light. A small handbag is fine.
The Main Hall and Where You Sit
The main hall is the heart of inside Moulin Rouge life. The official venue page gives it as 1,000 square metres with 850 seats, and mentions hundreds of small red table lamps. A smaller room, the Salon Toulouse-Lautrec at 55 square metres, is listed for private events, not for regular visitors.
You will not choose your place. The FAQ says the seating plan is prepared each day and the maître d’ shows you to your table, apart from the special 31 December event. Reviewers on the listings describe small tables and snug seating, and I would take that as a warning not to expect much room for bags. If the view matters, ask the staff politely on arrival, and do not pay extra for a promise of a specific table that the official site says cannot be made.
Dinner or Champagne at Your Table
What arrives at your table depends on the ticket. The cheapest seat I found is the champagne show at $134, which includes half a bottle of champagne. The dinner show at $284 adds a meal from a selected menu. Dinner starts from 7 pm, per the FAQ, and drinks can still be ordered later, but service stops while the show runs. The FAQ describes no separate dining and revue rooms, so I treat them as the same hall at different times.

“Fantastic venue , entertainment was world class, stage effects dancers, acrobatic performers were outstanding. Highly recommended” – GetYourGuide review
The revue is why the room exists, and it is the best answer to what is inside Moulin Rouge at night. The official FAQ gives the show as about 1 hour 45 minutes, with one answer saying about 1 hour 40, and a troupe of 80 international artists with classical dance training. The Féerie revue has played since December 1999, per Wikipedia. It includes topless passages, so think about that before bringing a younger child: the FAQ says children aged six and over may attend with an adult.
Photography, filming and recording are strictly forbidden for copyright and security reasons. Phones go away once the lights drop, and I would use the minutes before the show to look around the room instead.

“One of our highlights visiting Paris, show is amazing.” – GetYourGuide review
A shop is open on arrival and after the show, per the FAQ. Leave through the same doors, collect your coat and decide how you get home. Packages with transport drop you at one of five central areas, and the listings I read name Opéra, Arc de Triomphe, Montparnasse, the Eiffel Tower and Bastille. Without transport, Blanche metro is a one-minute walk, and taxis queue on the boulevard. Check the last metro time on the RATP site if the 11 pm show is yours.
Getting Around Inside Moulin Rouge: Access and Rules
For anyone who needs step-free access inside Moulin Rouge, the official FAQ says the venue offers special access for people with reduced mobility, and asks you to contact the reservations team before you book. A free hearing aid works through the Sennheiser Mobile Connect app over Wi-Fi. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are allowed, and other animals are not. The theatre is non-smoking, and e-cigarettes are not allowed.
Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded, per the FAQ, so check the date twice before you plan the inside Moulin Rouge evening. For showtimes and the dress code in one place, read my Moulin Rouge opening hours guide. If a guided evening with a coach tour appeals, I compare each Moulin Rouge tour on its own page, and the story of the building is on my Moulin Rouge history page. When you are ready to choose, every Moulin Rouge ticket I compared is in one place, and the home page lists the other attractions on the site.
Frequently asked questions
What is inside the Moulin Rouge?+
Inside the Moulin Rouge is one main hall that the official venue page describes as a multifaceted 850-seat room of 1,000 square metres, lit by hundreds of small red table lamps. You sit at a table, eat dinner if your ticket includes it, and watch the Féerie revue. The venue also has a shop and a cloakroom.
Is there a Moulin Rouge seating plan or map?+
No. The official FAQ says the Moulin Rouge has no fixed seating plan, you cannot reserve a specific place, and the seating plan is prepared each day. The maître d' shows you to your table on arrival. I found no official floor plan to link, so this page maps the surroundings and the order of the evening.
Can you see inside the Moulin Rouge without a ticket?+
I found no official tour of the building and no daytime opening for visitors, so a ticket for a performance is the way in. The windmill on the facade is free to see from the street at Place Blanche, and the Montmartre walk I list starts in front of it.
How long does an evening inside the Moulin Rouge last?+
The official FAQ gives the show as about 1 hour 45 minutes, and doors open 1 hour 15 minutes before it starts. That makes roughly 3 hours for a revue-only evening. The dinner packages on the listings I compared run about 4 hours.
Can you take photos inside the Moulin Rouge?+
No. The official FAQ says photographing, filming or recording the theatre or the show is strictly forbidden. Take your pictures of the red windmill from the street before you go in.
