If you are searching for a Paris pass, my short answer is this: I’d buy the Paris Museum Pass only if you will visit four or more paid museums or monuments inside its 2, 4 or 6 days, and I’d skip every other Paris city pass unless you really want its cruise, bus and tours. The cheapest pass I compared is the Explorer Pass at $94, the dearest is the Go City Paris Pass at $222, and the most reviewed is the Museum Pass with 4,617 reviews at 4.1 stars. Here is how each one works and the arithmetic.

I left out three listings from the pass collection because they are not city passes: a Versailles full-access ticket, a Jardin d’Acclimatation ride pass and a covered-passages walk. The Paris Museum Pass: Best for Museum-Heavy Trips
The Paris Museum Pass is the one that matches the old idea of a Paris city pass: you pay once for 2, 4 or 6 consecutive days and walk into the permanent exhibitions of the museums and monuments it covers. The listing names access to the permanent exhibitions, a visit to the Arc de Triomphe, priority entry and pickup information seven days a week. The official site is parismuseumpass.fr, which refused my request, so I could not read its current list or price and I won’t print one. Check it before you buy.

“Great resource for people particularly interested in art, history and architecture. 🩷 Greatly recommended.” – GetYourGuide review
Reviewers like how the pass is recognised at the door. One wrote that entry to every museum was effortless; another said picking it up outside the Louvre was easy. The complaints are about planning. A reviewer wrote that they wished they had read that museums close on Mondays and would have put more museums on Sunday. Another said they could not get Versailles or Sainte-Chapelle slots despite having the pass, so reserve the busiest sites the day you buy.
Two rules make the pass less simple than it sounds. The Louvre listing says each holder must present the pass with a document confirming a time slot, and the Louvre’s official admission page recommends booking a slot and offers it free. And at the Sainte-Chapelle, my Sainte-Chapelle tickets guide explains that Museum Pass holders also need a booked slot per the official site. The pass saves money, not planning.
Museum Pass and Seine Cruise: Only for the Cruise
The same pass is sold in a bundle with a one-hour commented cruise on the Seine, with earphones in 11 languages, at $134. That is $11 more than the plain Museum Pass price I compared. It has 16 reviews at 3.9, so the rating is a weak signal. Buy it only if you want that cruise and would not book one separately; otherwise the plain pass is the cleaner choice.

The Go City Paris Pass: Big, Busy and Hard to Break Even
This is the “55+ more” pass. The listing covers 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 days, includes top attractions, tours, museums and experiences, and comes with an app and a PDF guide. It costs $222 from, is rated 3.7 from 648 reviews, and does not include food, transport to attractions or gratuities. For a day-by-day look at what you could fit, my view is that this pass rewards fast, packed sightseeing.

“Awesome and compliantly with the Paris pass plus information when I bought” – GetYourGuide review
The reviews are candid. One says each attraction has its own reservation and scanning process, so follow the directions exactly, and that the cost of each attraction against the pass price just about broke even. Another says they used it twice and always got more than the cost back. Both can be true: a pass pays off for people who stack tours, a cruise and a bus, and does not for anyone who goes to three museums.
Paris Pass With Eiffel, Louvre, Versailles, Cruise and Bus
The second Paris Pass is a fixed bundle. It lists a guided Eiffel Tower second-floor tour, fast-track Louvre entry, Versailles afternoon entry without the gardens, Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie, a 24-hour hop-on hop-off bus, a Seine cruise, the Arc de Triomphe rooftop and more. It costs $178 from, valid for 2 to 5 days, rated 3.5 from 135 reviews. Reviewers mostly praise the Eiffel Tower guide, so the value comes from the tower tour more than from the pass as a whole.

“Yus is very informative and very clear in her communication. I would highly recommend her as your tour guide” – GetYourGuide review
Explorer Pass and Flex Pass: Pick Your Own Sights
The Explorer Pass lets you choose 3, 4 or 5 attractions for $94 from and is valid for 30 days. The Flex Pass at $111 from has a 30-day validity and lists Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, bus and cruise options. Both are rated low, 3.2 and 3.3. One Explorer reviewer says the reservations were easy and the pass was worth the money, while another could not book any entry in four days and was told everything was sold out, then found free places when buying a single ticket. A Flex reviewer says the Eiffel Tower guide could not be found at the meeting point and had to pay again. That is a risk for a ticket you have already paid for.
Go City - EMEA

Worked Example: Is a Pass Cheaper Than Single Tickets?
Here is a three-day plan using only official single prices already checked on my attraction pages, in euros. The first day: the Louvre at 32 euros for non-EEA visitors (22 for EEA visitors, per the Louvre) and the Sainte-Chapelle at 22 euros per the official site. Second day: the Arc de Triomphe at 22 euros in summer or 16 euros in winter per the official site, and the Palace of Versailles Passport at 25 euros in low season. Third day: the Château de Fontainebleau at 17 euros per its official site.

Against that, the reviewer I quoted paid 110 euros for the six-day Museum Pass. A six-day pass would save only 8 euros on this plan, while a shorter pass would cost less but I could not read the official price list. If you only go to the Louvre and the Sainte-Chapelle, singles cost 54 euros, so a pass loses. Under-26 visitors from the EEA enter the Louvre free, which makes a pass worse again. This is why I say four or more paid sites. I’m not sure each site on this plan is on the current pass list, so check the official Museum Pass site first.
How to Use a Paris Pass Without Wasting It
A Paris pass saves money only if you plan the days around it. Start with the closing days: the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays per its official site, and the Musée d’Orsay is closed on Mondays per Google Maps, so a Monday and Tuesday pass day leaves you fewer open sites. Next, reserve the sights that sell out, namely the Louvre, the Sainte-Chapelle and Versailles, as soon as your Paris pass is confirmed, because every reviewer who struggled did so over slots, not over the pass itself.
Then group the sights by area. The Louvre, Tuileries Garden and Musée de l’Orangerie sit side by side, and the Sainte-Chapelle and Notre-Dame are on the same island. Putting these on one day is how a Paris pass earns its price; crossing the city three times a day does the opposite. Finally, keep the confirmation email and the app on your phone, because the Go City and Explorer reviews all mention reservation steps that differ by attraction.
One more point on cancellation. All six listings cancel free up to 24 hours ahead, which makes buying a Paris pass early low-risk, but a reviewer of the Flex Pass shows what goes wrong when a guided activity cannot be found at the meeting point. Read the meeting point of each pass activity the night before.
When a Pass Is Not Worth It
A pass is a poor buy in five cases. You are under 26 and live in the EEA, because many state sites let you in free. You want one or two big sights only. You are travelling in July or August with long days when you would rather sit outside. You plan to visit on Mondays or Tuesdays, when major sites such as the Louvre close on Tuesdays. Or you want only free sights, which my guide to free attractions in Paris covers: Notre-Dame and the Sacré-Cœur are free, and the passes buy nothing there.
The attractions the passes touch are on their own pages: Louvre Museum tickets, Eiffel Tower tickets, Palace of Versailles tickets, Arc de Triomphe tickets, Musée d’Orsay tickets and Sainte-Chapelle tickets. My Paris overview is Paris attraction tickets, and the Paris attractions map helps you group sites by area so a pass day is not wasted on the metro.
How I’d Choose
- Four or more museums in 2 to 6 days: the Paris Museum Pass at $123 from, and read the official list first.
- Packed sightseeing with tours, a bus and a cruise: the Go City Paris Pass at $222 from, only if you will really use it.
- Eiffel Tower guide plus Louvre and Versailles: the fixed Paris Pass at $178 from.
- Museum Pass and a river cruise in one booking: the bundle at $134.
- Two or three paid sights: no pass; buy single tickets from my pages above.
- Cheapest and most flexible: the Explorer Pass at $94 from, with the booking caveats above.
