The cheapest Paris Catacombs tickets on GetYourGuide are guided tours with entry from $155, and the official site sells the plain ticket at 31 euros with an audio guide. The most reviewed tour is the ExperienceFirst one, at 4.8 stars from 424 reviews. I’d book that one for the restricted areas, and the official ticket if you just want the circuit.

Paris Catacombs Skip-the-Line Guided Tour and Special Access
I compared every one of the Paris Catacombs tickets I could book on GetYourGuide. All three are guided tours that include entry and access to areas the standard circuit does not reach, so there is no plain entry ticket in the set. Prices are in US dollars and come from the listings in November 2026. The buttons that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links, which I explain on my about page.

Paris Catacombs Tickets and Prices
Paris Catacombs tickets and prices split into two worlds. The official museum sells a timed ticket for 31 euros that includes an audio guide, and the resellers sell guided tours that start at $155. The tour I’d put first among Paris Catacombs tickets for what you actually see is the one from The Tour Guy at $199. It is the dearest, but it gets you into two restricted chambers, the Barrel of Passion in the Crypt of Passion and the lower catacombs. It scores 4.8 from 85 reviews, a smaller sample than the other two, and you can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund. It runs 1.5 hours, and you meet the guide in front of Cafe Oz on Place Denfert-Rochereau, 15 minutes early.

“easy check in and organized tour guide very informative” – GetYourGuide review
The reviews of this tour mention the restricted areas more than anything else, and that is the pattern I would trust.
“Remi was a great guide. Including the restricted areas was well worth the cost.”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
You pay for the guide and the extra rooms, not for the entry itself, and that is true of all Paris Catacombs tickets from resellers. Here is the group calculator for any tour in this comparison, because the price per head adds up fast for a family.
Calculator
What will it cost for your group?
–
from per person, before any child or group discount
Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
The official page also lists a 25 euro reduced rate for 5 to 26 year olds and students with valid ID, and a 5 euro audio guide for anyone who needs to buy one separately. That makes the gap between the official ticket and the cheapest tour large, and what you get for it is a guide, a small group and rooms the public circuit skips.
Skip-the-Line Paris Catacombs Tickets
Skip-the-line Paris Catacombs tickets are not a separate product, and none of the three listings I compared is a fast-track pass. Nobody sells a cheaper queue-jump version of the Paris Catacombs tickets, so you are choosing a tour. What the tours sell is pre-booked timed entry with a guide. The ExperienceFirst listing says skip-the-line entry, and the City Wonders and The Tour Guy listings include timed entry. The official site caps the site at 200 visitors and says entrance may be paused in very busy periods, so a booked slot is what saves you the wait, not a special lane.
I would not pay a premium on Paris Catacombs tickets just to avoid a queue. Pay it for the restricted rooms and the guide, and treat the timed entry as the bonus. My opening hours and visitor guide covers the best times to arrive.
Paris Catacombs Tour
A Paris Catacombs tour is the most searched way to use Paris Catacombs tickets to see the ossuary, and the one for people who want a cap on group size is the City Wonders tour at $188. It runs 2 hours, the longest of the three, and includes the entrance ticket, a reservation fee with pre-booked timed entry and access to restricted areas. The group is a maximum of 15 guests, or 7 on the semi-private option. It scores 4.6 from 409 reviews, the lowest of the three, though still a good score. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. The guide meets you outside the entrance in a blue polo shirt or jacket, holding a sign.

“Saeed was a terrific guide. Knowledgable and entertaining.” – GetYourGuide review
This was the listing where reviewers talked most about the guide telling stories rather than reading out facts.
“Michelle was a knowledgeable and interesting tour guide and moved at a good pace for everyone in our party.”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
Not included are hotel pick-up, food and drink, and gratuities. Every tour here is in English only. If you need another language, the official audio guide comes in French, English, Spanish and German. I compare every guided tour on my Paris Catacombs tours page.
Is the Paris Museum Pass Worth It for the Catacombs
This one comes up in searches, so I checked the official rates page for Paris Catacombs tickets. It names no museum pass as a way into the Catacombs. The only pass it mentions is the Paris Pass Famille, whose holders get the 25 euro reduced rate. Before you buy a museum pass instead of Paris Catacombs tickets, check the pass provider’s own list. For the Catacombs I’d price a timed ticket on its own instead.
The product that sits closest to a bundle here is the ExperienceFirst tour at $155, and it is a tour rather than a pass. It includes skip-the-line entry, VIP access to areas the general public cannot enter and an English-speaking guide. An optional upgrade adds a narrated Seine River cruise valid for a year from the tour date. The listing says it is non-refundable, which is the biggest downside against the other two. It is also the cheapest and the most reviewed, at 4.8 from 424 reviews, so these are the Paris Catacombs tickets most people will end up with. Booking early matters, as the official site limits entry to 200 visitors at a time, and I would not leave Paris Catacombs tickets until the day.

“Liz was such a awsome knowledgeable guide. 10/10 recommended” – GetYourGuide review
One of the 424 reviewers put the value in a single line, and it matches how I see it.
“Great catacombs visit. Worth having a guide for historical information and access to VIP sections of the catacombs.”

Paris Catacombs Admission
Paris Catacombs admission is run by the City of Paris museum, and the official page says to book a timed ticket online and check your slot. It also states online booking only, 7 days in advance. Free-entry visitors, such as disabled visitors and their carers, job seekers on listed benefits and some museum professionals, cannot buy online. They take proof to the front desk on the day, and the site says they are guaranteed entry even if the website shows the slots as full. Anyone going with them enters at the same time slot.
The same page names authorised resellers, so a Paris Catacombs ticket bought on a reseller is a valid one. The list I read includes GetYourGuide, ExperienceFirst and The Tour Guy. If a seller of Paris Catacombs tickets is not on the official list, check before paying.
Paris Catacombs Entry Fee
The Paris Catacombs entry fee on the official site, the base of all Paris Catacombs tickets, is 31 euros for the full rate, 25 euros reduced and 15 euros for ages 8 to 17, with children under 8 free. The audio guide is included for paid tickets, and free tickets do not include it, so those visitors buy it at the desk for 5 euros. The reduced rate applies to 5 to 26 year olds and students with valid ID.
On the resale side the entry fee is folded into the tour price. A guided visit with Paris Catacombs tickets included costs $155, $188 or $199 depending on the operator, and the entrance is part of that. I’d compare the tours against the official 31 euros as a guide-plus-rooms upgrade rather than as an equal product.
Is the Paris Catacombs Tour Worth It
My view is that the tour is worth it for first-timers buying Paris Catacombs tickets who care about history and the restricted rooms, and not worth it if you only want to see the bones. The reviews back this up. The ExperienceFirst Paris Catacombs tickets have 4.8 stars from 424 reviews and the City Wonders tour 4.6 from 409, and nearly every quote I read praises the guide by name. Google Maps rates the attraction itself at 4.1 from 11,801 reviews, which tells you the plain visit divides opinion more than the guided ones do.
One caution from a reviewer is worth passing on.
“please don’t bring your small children! I couldn’t understand why people were doing that. Kids would be traumatised from this”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
The official site only requires under-14s to be accompanied by an adult, so the age limit is yours to judge.
Paris Catacombs Visit
A visit to the Paris Catacombs means going down 131 steps, walking a 1.5 kilometre one-way circuit and climbing 112 steps back up, according to the official useful information page. The temperature stays at 14 degrees Celsius, so a jacket helps even in August. The floor is uneven and slippery, the passages are narrow and the light is dim. You enter at 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy and leave at 21 bis Avenue Rene-Coty, about 700 metres away, which is why there is no cloakroom.
Bags over 40 by 30 by 20 centimetres, suitcases, motorcycle helmets and strollers are not allowed, so pack light. The site is not wheelchair accessible.
Are the Paris Catacombs Dangerous
For most visitors, no, as long as you follow the route. The official risk is falling on the uneven, slippery floor in dim light, and the site does not recommend the visit for people with claustrophobia, motor disabilities, or cardiac or respiratory problems. Wikipedia records one officially confirmed death in the catacombs: Philibert Aspairt, who died in 1793 after losing his light and was found in 1804. That was in the wider tunnels, not on the public circuit.
“Only one death has officially been confirmed in the Catacombs.”
Walking in the unofficial tunnels is a different matter and not something I recommend. Stay on the public circuit or a guided tour.
What Is the Point of the Paris Catacombs
The point was public health. By the late 18th century Paris cemeteries were overflowing, and the city moved their bones into the old Tombe-Issoire quarries, according to the official site history. The first transfers ran from 1785 to 1787, mostly at night, starting with the Saints-Innocents cemetery. The ossuary was consecrated on 7 April 1786 and opened to the public from 1809. It holds the remains of more than six million people per Wikipedia, and the site says it welcomes nearly 550,000 visitors a year. The tour guides tell this story in order, which is part of why people rate them highly.
Opening Hours and Getting There
The Catacombs are closed on Mondays and open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:45 am to 8:30 pm, last admission 7:30 pm per the official site. Book your Paris Catacombs tickets for a slot, then take metro line 4 or 6 or RER B to Denfert-Rochereau, which is next to the entrance. My Paris Catacombs opening hours guide has the day-by-day table, seasonal advice and the rules at the gate.

Near Paris Catacombs
The Paris Catacombs sit in the 14th arrondissement, and most big sights are a metro ride away, so combine your Paris Catacombs tickets with one of them. The walking times below are my estimates from straight-line distance times 1.3 at 4.8 km/h. The Pantheon is the closest sight, about 1.7 km and 28 minutes on foot. Notre-Dame is about 2.5 km (40 minutes) and Sainte-Chapelle about 2.6 km (42 minutes). The Louvre Museum is roughly 3 km away, around 49 minutes on foot, so take the metro. The Eiffel Tower is about 3.9 km (63 minutes), and the Champ de Mars about 3.5 km (57 minutes). Place de la Bastille is 3.4 km away and Place du Trocadero 4.5 km. The Moulin Rouge is in Montmartre, further north and best reached by metro.
Cheapest guided Paris Catacombs tickets: the ExperienceFirst tour at $155, 4.8 from 424 reviews, but it is non-refundable.
Cheapest way in at all: the official 31 euro ticket, the plain Paris Catacombs ticket with audio guide, booked online.
Smaller group: the City Wonders tour at $188, capped at 15 guests or 7 on the semi-private option.
Most restricted rooms: The Tour Guy tour at $199, with two restricted chambers and the Crypt of Passion.
Flexibility: the City Wonders or The Tour Guy tour, both with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
Families: check the age rule and the stairs first, then pick the small-group tour and book Paris Catacombs tickets early.
Frequently asked questions
How much are the catacombs?+
The official site lists a full rate of 31 euros with the audio guide included, 25 euros reduced, 15 euros for ages 8 to 17, and free for under 8s. The three guided tours I compared on GetYourGuide cost $155, $188 and $199, because they add a guide and restricted areas to the entry ticket.
Can you tour catacombs in Paris?+
Yes. The Paris Catacombs are open to the public Tuesday to Sunday, and you can walk the one-way circuit alone with an audio guide or book a guided tour. The guided tours I compared all include entry and access to areas the standard circuit does not cover.
Is the Paris Catacombs tour worth it?+
I think a guided tour is worth it if the restricted rooms and the history matter to you. The ExperienceFirst tour has 4.8 stars from 424 reviews, and reviewers keep praising the guides. If you only want the standard circuit, the official 31 euro ticket is the cheaper way in.
Can you just walk into the Paris Catacombs?+
Not reliably. The official site says to book a timed ticket online and check your slot, and that the site is limited to 200 visitors at a time. Free-entry visitors with proof can get tickets at the front desk on the day, but everyone else should book ahead.
Can you touch the skulls in the catacombs?+
No. The official visitor rules say the ossuary must not be touched, and the ban applies to everyone, including visitors with sight loss. Eating, drinking, tripods and flash photography are also not allowed.
How long do I need for Paris catacombs?+
The official site gives 45 minutes for the 1.5 kilometre circuit on one page and about an hour on another, so I would allow an hour underground. The guided tours I compared run 1.5 to 2 hours, and you should add queue and meeting time.
What did the police discover in the catacombs in 2004?+
Per Wikipedia, police found a fully equipped cinema in a part of the catacombs under the Trocadero, with a screen, seats, projection equipment, a bar and a restaurant. A group called les UX took responsibility. It sits outside the public circuit.
Who is the most famous person buried in the Paris Catacombs?+
Wikipedia lists Maximilien Robespierre among the French Revolution victims whose remains were moved to the ossuary, along with Danton, Lavoisier and Madame du Barry. The remains are mixed into the ossuary walls, so there are no individual graves to look for.
