The cheapest of the Windsor Castle tickets I compared is the $43 admission ticket from Royal Collection Trust, which is also the most reviewed, at 4.7 stars from 8,291 reviews. Royal Collection Trust sells tickets itself at rct.uk: 32 pounds for an adult in advance, 36 pounds on the day. From London, the $52 Evan Evans coach option adds the transport. For most visitors I’d book the $43 ticket.
I compared all 10 ways to buy Windsor Castle tickets on GetYourGuide, and the Windsor Castle tickets here cover every option I found. One is a plain admission ticket; the other nine are coach tours from London that either include the castle entry or let you add it as an option. Prices are in US dollars, taken from the listings in November 2026. The buttons for each of these Windsor Castle tickets open GetYourGuide through affiliate links, which I explain on my about page.
Windsor Castle Tickets at a Glance
Windsor is a day trip from London, so the first choice is whether you want a ticket on its own or a ticket plus a seat on a coach. This table puts the whole range of Windsor Castle tickets in one place, and any Windsor Castle ticket can be cancelled up to 24 hours before.

Most Windsor Castle tickets differ in what travels with you rather than in what you see at the castle. The visit itself is the same State Apartments and chapel route whichever of the Windsor Castle tickets you buy, so the real choice is transport, a guide and whether you want other sights on the same day.
Windsor Castle Admission Tickets
Windsor Castle admission tickets in their plainest form are this listing from Royal Collection Trust, the charity that runs the castle’s visitor operation. It costs $43, scores 4.7 from 8,291 reviews and gives you the castle admission, a multimedia guide and entry to St George’s Chapel except on Sundays. This Windsor Castle ticket does not include transfers or a live guide, and the validity is 24 hours. You can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund.
The listing describes the State Apartments as furnished with paintings by Holbein, Rubens and Van Dyck, and says the Semi-State Rooms are added to the route in winter. It also warns that the castle stands on a steep hill and the route covers long distances, which matches the official advice to wear comfortable shoes. It estimates 2.5 to 3 hours for the visit; the official page suggests 1.5 to 2 hours, so I’d plan on two and treat the rest as a bonus.

“Loved the castle! Was so beautiful and the staff were really friendly.” – GetYourGuide review
Because this Windsor Castle ticket carries no transport, it suits anyone who already has a way to reach Windsor. If you are coming from central London without a car, read the next section on Windsor Castle tickets with transport.
Windsor Castle Entry Tickets
Windsor Castle entry tickets from Evan Evans Tours are a different thing: this is a $52 half-day trip that mostly sells the coach. The listing is called Windsor Castle with Transport, it lasts 5.5 hours, and you meet at the Evan Evans office at 258 Vauxhall Bridge Road. The entry to the castle and the castle audio guide are included only if you select the inclusive option, so choose it deliberately when you book. A guest services assistant travels with the group, but the listing says there is no tour guide, and hotel pick-up is not included.
It scores 4.3 from 1,017 reviews. One reviewer put it plainly:
“The tour was in fact the transfer from london to windsor and the fast track entrance. Inside there are super nice audio guides with all the details”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
That is the right way to think about this one. It is a transfer with a separate fast-track entry, and a fair deal if you want the castle but not the logistics. English only.

“Stephen was an excellent guide! The castle was amazing and wished we were there longer.” – GetYourGuide review
A Windsor Castle tour with a live guide is easiest to find as part of a bigger day. The one I’d start with among the tickets for Windsor Castle is the Evan Evans Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath tour at $95: 4.4 from 3,681 reviews, 11 hours, a guide, a coach with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and USB chargers, and a personal headset for the live commentary. It leaves from the Evan Evans kiosk opposite Gate 1 inside Victoria Coach Station.
The stops run Windsor, Stonehenge, Bath and back to Victoria. Entry to the castle, Stonehenge and the Roman Baths are each included only if the option is selected, so the price you see depends on how many you add. It runs in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese and Chinese, the widest spread of languages in my set.

“Fabulous! Both Richard (guide) and Lucien (driver) were highly qualified, professionals. They made our day efficient, well organized and successful!” – GetYourGuide review
“Wonderful highlights tour of 3 incredible landmarks. Manon, our guide, and Russell, our driver, took great care of us all throughout the day.”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
One reviewer, though, warns that the drive is long and the day tiring. I’d choose a Windsor Castle tour like this when Stonehenge is on your list too, and a shorter one when it is not. I compare every guided tour on my Windsor Castle tours page.
Windsor Castle Tickets 2 for 1
I could not find a 2-for-1 offer on the official Windsor Castle pages, so I won’t promise one. What the data does show among the Windsor Castle tickets is a bundle that gives you three headline sights for one booking: the Premium Tours day trip to Windsor Castle, Bath and Stonehenge at $105, 12 hours, 4.5 from 533 reviews. It is the third cheapest of the long days.
The coach leaves from Gate 19 at Victoria Coach Station, a 5 to 10 minute walk from Victoria train station according to the listing. It includes a professional guide, a luxury air-conditioned coach, Stonehenge entry and a panoramic coach tour of Bath. The entries for the castle and Roman Baths are options you select, so these Windsor Castle tickets change price with your choices, and only English is offered. The order of stops in the listing is Windsor Castle, Bath, Stonehenge.

If you saw a 2-for-1 on a rail or attraction site, check that seller’s terms and which tickets it applies to before relying on it.
Windsor Castle Reviews
Reviews of the castle itself are strong: Google Maps rates it 4.7 from 64,797 reviews. On GetYourGuide the admission ticket matches that at 4.7 from 8,291. The tours score lower, between 4.1 and 4.6, and the review texts explain why: reviewers praise the castle and the guides, and criticise time, price and logistics.
The best-scoring tour in my set is the Golden Tours Windsor Castle and Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace trip at $119: 4.6 from 160 reviews, 7 hours, with a panoramic bus tour of London first. It includes a meet and greet at Hampton Court Palace, a professional guide, and entry to both palaces as options. Two meeting points exist, so read your confirmation. Reviewers liked the guide and the audio guides at both places. One said it was pricey and another wanted more time at Hampton Court.

The review count is the thing to watch. A 4.6 from 160 is less certain than a 4.7 from 8,291.
Windsor Castle Entry Price
The entry price for Windsor Castle depends on where you buy. Officially, the 2026 standard rate is 32 pounds for an adult in advance, 36 pounds on the day, and from 1 January 2027 it is 33 pounds and 37 pounds, per Royal Collection Trust. Younger adults pay 21 pounds in advance, children aged 5 to 17 and disabled visitors 16 pounds, and an access companion is free. On GetYourGuide the plain admission ticket is $43 and the tours that include entry range from $52 to $178.
Golden Tours’ Extended Visit to Windsor Castle and Stonehenge sits in the middle at $92: 10 hours, 4.3 from 515 reviews, English, Spanish and Italian, with a guide, a luxury air-conditioned bus and a 25 percent discount off Stonehenge guidebooks. The listing says to expect to be back in London at about 6 pm, and that the meeting point may vary with the option you choose. Windsor Castle and Stonehenge entries are both options you select. It is not the lowest-priced tour in my set, so I’d pick it for the extended time at Stonehenge, not for value.

Calculator

Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
Windsor Castle tickets cost $43 for the admission only, $52 to $119 for a transport or half-day option, and $158 to $178 for the all-inclusive lunch and London Eye packages.
Windsor Castle Tickets Discount
The honest discounts on tickets for Windsor Castle come from the official site, not from the tours. Royal Collection Trust lists lower prices for 18 to 24-year-olds, children and disabled visitors, 1 pound tickets for people on Universal Credit and other named UK benefits, and 50 percent off for Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Advantage Card holders, with free entry for one child under 18 per cardholder. Booking Windsor Castle tickets in advance saves 4 pounds on the adult price. It also lets you convert a ticket into a 1-year pass for free re-admission, with a 2 pound transaction fee when you pre-book a return visit.
Among the tours, none of the 10 Windsor Castle tickets is marked as a discount. The Golden Tours Royal Afternoon Sightseeing Tour at $92 is a fair middle option if you want transport plus a defined time at the castle. It is 5.5 hours, includes entry to the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and St George’s Chapel, and has audio guides in eight languages. There is no live guide. The listing also says the castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and a walking tour of Windsor runs on those days instead, which matches Google Maps.

“Bus was very comfortable. Guide was great. Had enough time to see castle and surrounding shopping areas. May need more time if want to see all the art. Also got to skip the line which is nice to enter.” – GetYourGuide review
“We're glad they gave us 3 hours at the castle, as it takes about 1/2 hour once you're at the coach park to walk up to the Castle and go through security.”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
Is Windsor Castle in Windsor Great Park
Windsor Castle sits in the town of Windsor, at the top of its hill, and Windsor Great Park is a separate large park listed on Google Maps at about 6.7 km from the castle’s pin, roughly a 1 hour 50 minute walk by my estimate. The castle ticket covers the castle, and none of the 10 Windsor Castle tickets I compared includes the park. I could not confirm the exact boundary from a source, and the park’s own site is windsorgreatpark.co.uk.
If the park is part of your plan, the tours that stay all day elsewhere will not help. The Golden Tours Windsor Castle, Bath and Stonehenge trip at $162 is the most expensive full day: 11 hours, 4.4 from 160 reviews. It includes admission to Windsor Castle and Stonehenge but not the Roman Baths, and it leaves from Stop Z6 outside 50 Grosvenor Gardens, with the listing putting the return to London at about 8 pm. A reviewer said it was a long day and worth it, but wished for two stops with more time in each.

“Bruce was an excellent guide and 3 experiences were so fun.” – GetYourGuide review
Yes, if royal history interests you, and the Royal Collection Trust says it has been the home of 40 monarchs since William the Conqueror founded it in the 11th century. Wikipedia describes it as a royal residence about 25 miles (40 km) west of central London that embodies almost a millennium of architectural history, and Wikidata gives it an opening year of 1070.
Among the tickets for Windsor Castle with lunch, the Premium Tours fish and chips option at $158 is the lunch version of the half-day trip: 5.5 hours, entrance to the castle, transport and a fish and chips lunch in a London pub, ending in London. It leaves from Victoria Coach Station Gate 20 at 7:45 AM, with check-in from 7:30. Its rating is 4.5, but from only 26 reviews, and those reviews are mixed. Some mention combined groups and late departures, and one says there is no guided tour inside the palace. I would not pay $158 for it when the $52 transport option exists, unless the lunch matters to you.

“Great day out. Did the extended trip then lunch. Could have spent more time there” – GetYourGuide review
It is worth going if you can fit it in half a day, and one of the Windsor Castle tickets pairs it with another London landmark. The Premium Tours Windsor Castle and London Eye half-day tour is $178, 4.1 from 33 reviews, the lowest score in my set. It includes the castle entrance, a ticket to the London Eye and transport, and the coach returns you toward the London Eye for your next stop. “Everything thing is amazing and I loved it all and especially the guidance in the Palace” – GetYourGuide review
If the London Eye is the draw, my page on London Eye tickets compares its tickets separately, and you may find it cheaper to buy the London Eye ticket and a Windsor Castle ticket on their own.
Is Windsor Castle Worth the Trip
For a visitor staying in London, the trip is about 25 miles, and the data suggests half a day is the minimum that feels fair. The castle’s own practical page suggests 1.5 to 2 hours inside, and the half-day tours give you about 2 to 3 hours there plus the drive. Add the walk up the hill and the airport-style security check, and a morning is gone. If you can only spare four hours, I would take the plain admission ticket, one of the cheaper Windsor Castle tickets at $43, and make your own way.
The trip is worth it when you want the State Apartments and St George’s Chapel, which holds royal burials including Henry VIII. It is harder to justify if your main interest is modern royal ceremony: the official site warns that the castle can close at short notice, so check before you commit a whole day. The Windsor Castle tickets above all carry the same free cancellation window of 24 hours, which is some protection against a change of plans.
Opening Hours and Getting There
Google Maps lists Windsor Castle open 10 am to 4:15 pm and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. St George’s Chapel closes to visitors at 4 pm and all day Sunday, per the official practical information page. The castle can close at short notice, so check the closure dates before you go. My Windsor Castle opening hours and visitor guide has the day-by-day table, security rules and the best time to visit.

Near Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is the centre of its own small area, and the places Google Maps lists around it are few. The castle itself is the first card, and the Learning Centre Entrance listed by Google Maps is about 0.2 km away, a 3-minute walk by my estimate (straight-line distance times 1.3 at 4.8 km/h). The ticket entrance I’d follow is the one on your confirmation or the official map. Windsor Great Park is about 6.7 km away, which is a long walk. The London sights on tours, such as the London Eye, are 33 km or more away, so I have left them out of this grid.
Cheapest Windsor Castle ticket: the $43 Royal Collection Trust admission ticket, with a multimedia guide.
No driving, no fuss: the $52 Evan Evans Windsor Castle with Transport option, choosing the inclusive entry.
With a guide and other sights: the $95 Evan Evans Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath tour, or the $105 Premium Tours version.
Two palaces: the $119 Golden Tours Hampton Court trip, 4.6 from 160 reviews.
Half day with an audio guide: the $92 Golden Tours Royal Afternoon tour.
Families: among the Windsor Castle tickets, the official site says the multimedia guide has a family version for ages 7 to 11, so the $43 admission fits best.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need tickets to go to Windsor Castle?+
Yes. Royal Collection Trust sells a standard admission ticket for the castle, and the official price list shows a cheaper advance rate and a dearer on-the-day rate: for 2026 an adult pays 32 pounds in advance or 36 pounds on the day. The GetYourGuide admission ticket at $43 is the same kind of entry, with a multimedia guide included. I'd book ahead because it costs less.
How much is it to enter Windsor Castle?+
Per the official site, an adult standard admission for 2026 is 32 pounds in advance and 36 pounds on the day, with 18 to 24-year-olds at 21 and 24 pounds and children aged 5 to 17 at 16 and 18 pounds. Under-fives are free. On GetYourGuide the plain admission ticket is $43, and tours that include entry run from $52 to $178.
Do any royals currently live in Windsor Castle?+
The official site describes Windsor Castle as a working royal palace and an official residence of the King, and it warns that the whole castle or the State Apartments can close at short notice. I can't tell you who is staying there on a given day, so check the closure dates on the Royal Collection Trust site before you travel.
Can I visit Henry VIII's grave at Windsor Castle?+
Yes, his burial place is in St George's Chapel, which the standard admission ticket covers. The Royal Collection Trust says ten kings are buried at the castle, including Henry VIII and Charles I. The chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays and closes at 4 pm on other days, so plan the chapel for a weekday or a Saturday.
How long do you need at Windsor Castle?+
The official practical information page suggests between 1.5 and 2 hours. The GetYourGuide admission listing says to allow 2.5 to 3 hours, and the half-day tours from London run 5.5 hours door to door. I'd plan on about two hours inside and add time for security and the walk up the hill.
Is there a discount for Windsor Castle tickets?+
The official site lists cheaper rates for 18 to 24-year-olds, children and disabled visitors, 1 pound tickets for people on Universal Credit and other named benefits, and 50 percent off for Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Advantage Card holders. I found no 2-for-1 offer on the official page, so confirm any promotion with the seller.
Is Windsor Castle worth visiting from London?+
I think so if you like royal history: Google Maps rates it 4.7 from 64,797 reviews, and the standard ticket covers the State Apartments and St George's Chapel. The castle is about 25 miles (40 km) west of central London, so a half-day tour at 5.5 hours or a train journey is enough, and the Stonehenge and Bath combinations make it a long day.
Can I cancel a Windsor Castle ticket?+
All 10 GetYourGuide listings in my comparison state free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start for a full refund. That includes the $43 admission ticket and every tour from London. The official site has its own terms, so read them if you book directly.
