The cheapest Musée d’Orsay tickets I found are a $45 French-language theatrical tour, and the cheapest in English is a $47 entry ticket with a Seine cruise, which is also the most reviewed at 1,406 reviews. My pick is the Memories France guided tour at $71: 4.8 stars from 1,257 reviews, entry included. I could not read the museum’s own price page, so check musee-orsay.fr for the official adult price.
I compared all 10 Musée d’Orsay tickets and experiences on GetYourGuide this week. One is a plain entry ticket combined with a river cruise, and the other nine are guided tours with the admission built in, so the choice is mostly about the guide, the group size and the language. Prices are in US dollars, taken from the listings in November 2026. The booking buttons open GetYourGuide through affiliate links (see my about page).

The big difference between Musée d’Orsay tickets is not the galleries you reach, because the permanent collection is open to every ticket holder. It is the guide, the group and one rule: the Walks In Europe listing says it includes access to all of the temporary exhibitions, while the Visites Spectacles listing says it does not include them.
Musée d’Orsay Tickets and Prices
Musée d’Orsay tickets and prices start with the one product that is a ticket, not a tour. The Global Tours and Tickets listing costs $47 and includes the museum entry ticket, valid for one entry, plus a one-hour Seine river cruise with an audio guide on the boat in 14 languages. It scores 4.6 from 1,406 reviews, the most of any option here. There is no live guide and no audio guide inside the museum. You do not meet anyone: you enter on your own with the voucher through Entrance 2 on the forecourt. It is non-refundable, which matters if your plans might change.

“It was great but should have included audio at the musee as well as the boat” – GetYourGuide review
One reviewer wrote that it was great but should have included audio at the museum as well as on the boat. Another wrote that entry was quick and hassle-free and recommended doing the cruise around sunset. That is the case for this ticket: you pay little, skip the ticket line, and get an evening on the river.
Skip-the-Line Musée d’Orsay Tickets
Skip-the-line Musée d’Orsay tickets come with a guide in the City Wonders Masterpieces tour, $66, rated 4.5 from 525 reviews. It runs 2 hours with an English-speaking art historian, the entrance and reservation fees, and a headset when necessary. You can pick a semi-private or a group tour. The meeting point is the entrance of the Musée de la Légion d’Honneur, next to the stairs that lead up toward the Orsay, where the guide waits with a City Wonders sign. “Knowledgeable, friendly, interesting and accommodating guide (Carolina). We were disappointed that many popular works were out on loan but we know that is the nature of the industry.” – GetYourGuide review
“To be honest, I only booked the tour because timed tickets were sold out and I wanted quick access. But Adrian delivered so much!”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
That is the honest version of skip the line at this museum: a booked tour gets you in with a reserved entrance, which is worth knowing if a timed slot has run out.
Musée d’Orsay Tour
A Musée d’Orsay tour from Memories France is the one I would book first, at $71 for 1.5 to 2.5 hours. It scores 4.8 from 1,257 reviews and is the best-rated option with a large review count. The listing includes a guided tour of about 1 hour 45 minutes with an accredited local guide, a dedicated entrance, all entrance fees and headsets when appropriate. It is English only. You are also free to stay in the museum as long as you like after the tour. The guide waits opposite the main entrance, next to the Legion d’Honneur Museum, with an orange lanyard badge, and the listing says not to join the museum queue.

“It was a wonderful excursion!Antonio was a perfect guide !Thank you !” – GetYourGuide review
“Eleanor was knowledgeable, kind, and witty. We thoroughly enjoyed her tour. A good value.”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
The Orsay tour reviews follow a pattern: most of the praise is for the individual guide, and one reviewer wished for more time with her. I compare all nine guided tours on my Musée d’Orsay tours page.
Musée d’Orsay Tickets Price
The lowest Musée d’Orsay tickets price here is $45, for a theatrical guided tour in French from Visites Spectacles. It lasts 100 minutes and gives access to the permanent exhibit, not the temporary exhibitions. A professional actor leads the tour, and the story follows a guide who is the great-granddaughter of an Impressionist painter. It scores 5.0 from only 2 reviews, so treat the rating as a first impression, not a verdict. It is French only, and it meets outside the museum in front of Entrance B on the Esplanade Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead.

“Merav was an excellent tour guide with a vast knowledge of art history.” – GetYourGuide review
One reviewer found the museum crowded and noisy but said the guide navigated through the people. Another waited 30 minutes for a guide who did not show a clear sign, and a third could not find the guide in the summer 2024 crowds. Arrive early and know the meeting point before you go.
Musée d’Orsay Tickets Official Site
Searching for Musée d’Orsay tickets on the official site usually means one question: is the museum’s own ticket cheaper than a reseller’s? I could not confirm the museum’s own adult price, because musee-orsay.fr refused my request, so I can only say what a reseller adds. The Shedlight tour costs $70, runs 1.5 hours in French and English, and includes the admission ticket and a live guide who focuses on the birth of Impressionism. It scores 4.8 from 166 reviews. The guide waits in front of the Legion of Honor Museum, opposite the Orsay. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead.

“Our guide of Musée d’Orsay was excellent. We had been to this museum several times before, but she was able to tell us things about the impressionist paintings that were completely new to us.” – GetYourGuide review
A reviewer who had been to the museum several times before wrote that the guide told them things about the Impressionist paintings that were completely new. The official site is where I would check the current price and any temporary closure before you pay a reseller.
Is Musée d’Orsay Worth It
Is the Musée d’Orsay worth it? Wikipedia says the museum holds the largest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces in the world, with painters such as Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne, Seurat, Gauguin and van Gogh, in a Beaux-Arts railway station built from 1898 to 1900. Per the Wikipedia article, it opened as a museum in December 1986. For a first visit with a guide, the Exploring Tours small-group visit costs $101 for 2 hours, with up to 6 people, rated 4.9 from 17 reviews.

“It was wonderful! Arsen was so knowledgeable and he made it so interesting and informative. We really enjoyed our time there. Arsen made sure all our needs were met, before, during and after the tour.” – GetYourGuide review
The listing says English, Spanish, Italian and French, while the language field shows English, Italian and Spanish, so confirm French before you book. Reviewers praise the guide’s knowledge, and one reviewer who was not an art specialist said they were amazed at being shown the works in a new light.
Musée d’Orsay Tickets for Students
I have no student price to show for Musée d’Orsay tickets. None of the ten listings states a student or youth rate, and I could not read the museum’s own concessions page. The Uncle Sam Tours listing is a leftover in my allocation, not a student product, but it is a reasonable budget option for a guided visit: $69 for 1.5 to 2 hours, with reserved entry, admission and an English-speaking guide. It has only 4 reviews, rated 5.0. The meeting point varies with the option you choose, so read your confirmation. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead.

“Absolutely awesome! Nea is an excellent guide! She is so knowledgeable and fun! We learnt a lot!” – GetYourGuide review
One reviewer said the guide was great but suggested being shown the group locker and the way out of the museum. Another reported that their party was split into two groups with different guides, and that one guide was weaker than the other. If you are a student, ask the museum about a reduced rate before you pay a reseller.
Musée d’Orsay English Translation
People who search for the Musée d’Orsay in English are usually after a tour in their language, not a translation. The one listing here that is not in English is the Paris Tours visit, $97, in Spanish only, 2.5 hours. It includes a professional Spanish-speaking guide, the entrance fee, a personal audio system and a cloakroom. It has 2 reviews, both 5.0. The guide contacts you the day before or on the morning, holds a sign that says PARIS TOURS, and the listing says the museum entrance is under construction, so the exact location is given that morning. It names Manet’s Olympia, Millet’s The Angelus, Van Gogh’s The Bedroom in Arles and Courbet’s The Origin of the World.

Is Musée d’Orsay Worth Seeing
The Musée d’Orsay is worth seeing if you want to understand the 19th century in French art, and the most generous version is the private tour from Rosotravel. It costs $284, lasts 2 to 4 hours, and has no ratings yet. Every option includes the museum entrance tickets and a licensed art guide in your language. The longer options add a walk through Île de la Cité with free admission to Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois (4 and 5.5-hour options only), and private car transfers with hotel pickup on the 3.5 and 5.5-hour options. The meeting point is the Thomas Jefferson statue on Rue de Solférino.

For a group of four or more, Musée d’Orsay tickets like this one get cheaper per person, but the listing price is the price I can show. Wikipedia reports 3.9 million visitors in 2023, which is why a private guide can shorten a day here.
Opening Hours and Getting There
Before you book Musée d’Orsay tickets, note that the museum is open, per Google Maps, 9:30 am to 6 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to Sunday, until 9:45 pm on Thursday, and closed on Monday. The nearest metro station is Solférino, about 5 minutes on foot by my estimate, and the Musée d’Orsay RER stop is 2 minutes away. The full table, the best time and what to know at the door are in my Musée d’Orsay opening hours and visitor guide.

Near Musée d’Orsay
The museum sits on the Left Bank, facing the Tuileries across the river, and the walking times below are my estimates from straight-line distance, multiplied by 1.3 at 4.8 km/h. Place de la Concorde is the nearest sight on this list, about 12 minutes. The Louvre is a short walk over the river and I compare it in my Louvre Museum tickets guide. Notre-Dame is about 30 minutes, the Panthéon 34 and the Eiffel Tower 38. Compare lines for the tower in my Eiffel Tower tickets page, and see my Arc de Triomphe tickets for the arch, about 45 minutes away.
The Trocadéro is about 45 minutes away, Sacré-Cœur 52 and the Place de la Bastille 52. The banks of the Seine in Paris are a UNESCO World Heritage site, so I would walk part of the way along the river.
How I’d Choose
My short list of Musée d’Orsay tickets, by type of visitor:
Cheapest: the $45 Visites Spectacles theatrical tour if you speak French, otherwise the $47 Global Tours and Tickets entry with a Seine cruise.
First visit with a guide: the $71 Memories France tour, 4.8 from 1,257 reviews.
Small group: the $101 Exploring Tours visit, up to 6 people, or the $105 Walks In Europe tour, which also covers the temporary exhibitions.
Spanish speakers: the $97 Paris Tours visit, with a cloakroom included.
Museum and river together: the $47 Global Tours and Tickets ticket, with the cruise at sunset.
Private and any language: the $284 Rosotravel private tour, 2 to 4 hours.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need tickets to see Musée d'Orsay?+
Yes, you need an admission ticket, and every option I compared on GetYourGuide includes one. Nine are guided tours with entry built in and one is a plain entry ticket paired with a Seine cruise. A reviewer of the City Wonders tour wrote that they only booked it because timed tickets were sold out and they wanted quick access, so I would not count on buying at the door.
How much do Musée d'Orsay tickets cost in US dollars?+
The ten options I compared cost $45 to $284 per person. The lowest is a French-language theatrical tour at $45, the lowest English-language option is the $47 entry ticket with a Seine river cruise, and most English guided tours cost $66 to $105. I could not read the museum's own price page, so check musee-orsay.fr for the official adult price.
Is Starry Night still in Musée d'Orsay?+
Van Gogh's Starry Night Over the Rhône, painted in 1888, is listed in the museum's collection on Wikipedia. Popular works do leave the walls, though: a reviewer of the City Wonders tour was disappointed that many popular works were out on loan. I would ask your guide on the day which of the famous paintings are hanging.
What is the most famous piece in Musee d'Orsay?+
No single piece wins on the data I have. Wikipedia names Manet's Olympia, Courbet's The Origin of the World and Van Gogh's Starry Night Over the Rhône among the works held, and the tour listings add Millet's The Angelus, Degas' dancers and Renoir's Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette. Most tours here are built around Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting.
Can I buy a Musée d'Orsay ticket without a guided tour?+
In my comparison only one listing is a plain entry ticket: the $47 Global Tours and Tickets product, which adds a one-hour Seine river cruise. You enter the museum on your own with the voucher through Entrance 2 on the forecourt. It is non-refundable and has no audio guide inside the museum.
Which language should I pick for a Musée d'Orsay tour?+
English has the widest choice, with six listings. Shedlight runs in French and English, Visites Spectacles is French only, Paris Tours is Spanish only, and Exploring Tours lists English, Italian and Spanish. The Rosotravel private tour lists 11 languages, from Arabic to Polish, at $284.
Is Musée d'Orsay worth it?+
I think so, especially with a guide. Wikipedia describes it as holding the largest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces in the world, and reviewers of the small-group tours say the guide made the works easier to understand. The museum drew about 3.9 million visitors in 2023 per Wikipedia, so a guided route saves you choosing.
