Westminster Abbey Tickets – Westminster Abbey Entrance Ticket

The cheapest Westminster Abbey ticket on GetYourGuide is the $43 entry ticket, and it is also the most reviewed at 4.6 stars from 14,765 reviews. The Abbey’s own site, where the official Westminster Abbey tickets are sold, westminster-abbey.org, sells adult tickets at 32 pounds. For a first visit I’d book the entry ticket with its multimedia guide, and only add a guided tour if you want the history explained.

I compared all 10 Westminster Abbey tickets and tours you can book on GetYourGuide right now, and every Westminster Abbey ticket below can be cancelled up to 24 hours ahead. One is a plain entry ticket, and the other nine are guided tours that include entry or walking tours that finish at the Abbey. Prices are in US dollars and come from the listings, checked in November 2026. The links that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links (more on that on my about page). Westminster Abbey is a working church, so it is closed to sightseers on Sundays and during services, which I explain in my opening hours guide.

Westminster Abbey Tickets at a Glance

Here is every type of Westminster Abbey ticket in one table, with the tickets for Westminster Abbey grouped by what they include, so you can see where the money goes before reading the detail.

What Details
Ticket types 1 entry ticket, 8 guided or walking tours with entry, 1 tour whose shortest option only covers the outside
Price range $43 (entry ticket) to $159 (Houses of Parliament and Abbey tour)
Cheapest ticket that goes inside $43 entry ticket with a multimedia guide
Areas by type The entry ticket covers the Abbey with a multimedia guide; guided tours add a guide inside; combos add Big Ben, Buckingham Palace or the Houses of Parliament
Official ticket Adults 32 pounds, over-65s and students 29 pounds, children 6 to 17 at 14 pounds, under-6s free (per westminster-abbey.org)
Time to allow 2 hours for the Abbey; 2.5 to 5 hours for the walking tours
Address Dean’s Yard, London SW1P 3PA (per Google Maps); visitors enter by the North Entrance on Parliament Square (per the official site)
Hours 9:30 am to 4:30 pm with last entry 3:30 pm; Saturday 9 am to 4 pm with last entry 3 pm; Sunday open for services (per the official site)

The Abbey is the one place on this site where the booking question is as much about the day as about the ticket. Hours are short, last entry is early, and Sundays are for worship, so Westminster Abbey tickets only help on the right day, and the cheapest Westminster Abbey ticket is worth nothing if you arrive at the wrong time.

Westminster Abbey entry tickets on GetYourGuide, the plainest Westminster Abbey tickets you can buy, start with the entry ticket sold under the Abbey’s own name at $43. It does not include a tour guide or skip-the-line entry. You show your voucher at the ticket office at the North Door, on the North Green of Parliament Square, and you can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund. The listing gives 2 hours as the visit time.

“Tons of people, but moving orderly. Very helpful audioguide. Amazing experience if you can appreciate beauty and history.” – GetYourGuide review

The reviews on this Westminster Abbey ticket are mostly about the building and the guide device, and the queue is described as busy but orderly.

Tons of people, but moving orderly. Very helpful audioguide. Amazing experience if you can appreciate beauty and history.
— GetYourGuide reviewer

Reviewers also mention that swapping the voucher for a ticket was easy. If you are comfortable reading the signs and using an audio guide, these entry tickets for Westminster Abbey are all most people need, and I’d book this Westminster Abbey ticket first.

Skip-the-Line Westminster Abbey Tickets

Skip-the-line Westminster Abbey tickets are sold only as part of guided options on GetYourGuide, never as a bare ticket, so a skip-the-line ticket for Westminster Abbey always comes with a guide or a walk. The card in this section is the Top Sights Tours walking tour at $91, rated 4.8 from 1,311 reviews. I need to be honest about it: the listing says it includes a Westminster Abbey pre-booked entry ticket, a local guide and a walk, not that it skips a queue. The tour lasts 5 hours and meets outside the Ritz hotel on Piccadilly, near Green Park station. The route covers Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Horse Guards Parade, 10 Downing Street and Parliament Square before the Abbey. Entry to Buckingham Palace and Big Ben is not included, and it runs in English.

“The tour provided a great introduction to the highlights of Westminster. We especially enjoyed our guide, Ash, who included interesting historic stories and kept us thoroughly engaged despite the bad weather!” – GetYourGuide review

Among the Westminster Abbey tickets here, the true skip-the-line wording appears on the City Wonders, Rosotravel, Walks and Premium Tours listings further down. If the queue is your main worry, start there.

Westminster Abbey Admission Tickets

Westminster Abbey admission tickets with a guide inside, a step up from the plain admission ticket for Westminster Abbey, are the Amigo Tours option at $93, rated 4.7 from 817 reviews. It includes entry to the Abbey and a guide inside, lasts 2 hours and runs in Spanish and English. It meets outside the Abbey Shop, and the listing asks you to find the guide there rather than inside the shop and to arrive at least 10 minutes early. It does not include hotel transfers or tips. Compared with the plain Westminster Abbey ticket, you pay $50 more for a person who explains the memorials as you walk.

“Thank you so much Jane!!! We had the loveliest time, you were so knowledgeable and funny. Take care!” – GetYourGuide review

One reviewer liked it and added a practical tip that matches how quietly guides must speak in a church.

The tour was great - I would however recommend earphone use as at times it was hard to hear tour guide (of course location requires soft speaking)
— GetYourGuide reviewer

The listing does not mention headsets, so if you hear poorly in a crowd, the Premium Tours option below includes an earpiece per a reviewer.

Westminster Abbey Tour

A Westminster Abbey tour, which usually includes a ticket for Westminster Abbey, is easiest to compare on the Rosotravel Blue Badge guide listing, which is the best-known name among the guided Westminster Abbey tours at $44, rated 4.8 from 4,051 reviews. The price is a from-price, because the listing has options. The 4-hour option is a fully guided tour inside the Abbey with skip-the-line tickets. The 3-hour option guides you around the city and the outside of the Abbey only, and includes entry for a service, such as an organ recital, evensong or mass, without a guide. That is a different product, and I’d choose it only if you mainly want the Westminster walk. The listing includes a Blue Badge guide with your ticket for Westminster Abbey and lists French, English, German, Italian and Spanish. Buckingham Palace and Big Ben tickets are not included, and neither are headsets. I compare every guided option on my Westminster Abbey tours page.

“Natalia was a joy as my guide . She was very knowledgeable and took real good care of my group and I. I recommend this tour especially if Natalia is your guide💜💜” – GetYourGuide review

Reviewers of this tour praise individual guides by name for knowledge and care with the group, and one said they learned enough that they could identify buildings the next day on their own. The stops include Parliament Square, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, St Margaret’s Church, St James’s Park and Buckingham Palace, mostly seen from outside.

Westminster Abbey Admission Price

The admission price for Westminster Abbey tickets is 32 pounds for an adult on the official site, with 29 pounds for over-65s and students and 14 pounds for children aged 6 to 17. Under-6s are free. The official prices page also lists free entry for disabled visitors with an essential companion, UK Armed Forces personnel and veterans, and NHS staff, and a 1 pound rate with Universal Credit that cannot be booked online.

On GetYourGuide the Westminster Abbey ticket is $43, so the gap to the official adult price comes from currency and the bundled multimedia guide in the listing. I can’t say what the official ticket includes beyond what its page states, so check the official ticket page if the audio guide matters to you. The card in this section is a leftover from my set and not the cheapest option: City Wonders Reserved Entry at $73, rated 4.6 from 325 reviews. Westminster Abbey Tickets Online

Westminster Abbey tickets online are available from the Abbey’s ticket site and from GetYourGuide. Booking Westminster Abbey tickets ahead matters because the official visit page says advance booking is highly recommended to guarantee entry during busy periods. The strongest listing for a guided visit with a queue-free entry is Rosotravel’s Skip-the-line Entry and Guided Tour at $111, rated 4.8 from 551 reviews. It has private and group options, a licensed guide and nine languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. The longer private options add St Margaret’s Church and a private car transfer, which the shorter ones do not. The group tour is the 4-hour option only, so read which option you select before you pay.

“Natalia or Natasha 😉was very nice and knowled about what we see. She was great story teller about the royal family and very friendly. 5☆ guid and everyone that will get here fore guid is very lucky” – GetYourGuide review

A reviewer of this Westminster Abbey ticket described the guide’s storytelling about the royal family, which is the kind of detail a plain ticket will not give you. The listing does not include the St Margaret’s Church visit on the short options, so I’d treat it as a bonus on the long ones.

Westminster Abbey Admission

For Westminster Abbey admission with priority access, one of the more comfortable Westminster Abbey tickets, and a little comfort, Premium Tours is my pick at $113, rated 4.8 from 455 reviews. It includes priority access, a professional guide and refreshments, and a London Eye skip-the-line ticket if you choose that option. It runs 2 hours in English and meets outside the Abbey Shop at 20 Dean’s Yard, with the listing asking you to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Hotel pickup is not included.

“We had a lovely tour! Our guide knew so much, was easy to hear and very friendly. We learned so much and enjoyed our tour if Westminster Abbey.” – GetYourGuide review

Several reviewers mention the refreshments and the earpiece, which a guide needs in a crowded church.

A really great tour - excellent guide met us for pre-tour refreshments which were perfect (coffee and pastry); provided the group with an ear piece (essential in a busy tourist venue); and guided us around the Abbey.
— GetYourGuide reviewer

At $113 against $43 for the plain Westminster Abbey ticket, you pay $70 more for the guide, the earpiece and the coffee, and I’d only do it if you want the Abbey explained.

Westminster Abbey Tickets Discount

A discount on Westminster Abbey tickets is hard to find, and cheap Westminster Abbey tickets on resale sites deserve a second look, and the honest answer is that the official prices page lists concessions, not sales. Over-65s and students pay 29 pounds instead of 32, children aged 6 to 17 pay 14 pounds, and some groups enter free, including NHS staff and UK Armed Forces personnel and veterans. The same page says that National Rail 2-for-1 tickets must be bought on the door, and that the Go City London Pass must be pre-booked through its app. I did not verify how those offers work beyond that wording, so check the terms before travelling.

The card in this section is a leftover and not a discount: The Tour Guy’s Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Changing of the Guard tour at $95, rated 4.7 from 393 reviews. The listing includes a Blue Badge guide, timed entry and a guided tour of the Abbey, a viewing of the Changing of the Guard or Horse Guard ceremony, an exterior view of Big Ben and a walk through St James’s Park. It lasts 3 hours and meets at the Abraham Lincoln statue in Parliament Square. The Thames cruise and the Tower of London are only in the longer version of the tour.

“Our tour guide Steve was amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable and adapted the tour to the diverse range of people on the tour. Thank you for a great tour Steve!” – GetYourGuide review

One reviewer enjoyed it but said the pace felt rushed, so keep that in mind if you like to linger inside the Abbey.

Is Westminster Abbey Worth It?

Is Westminster Abbey worth it is a question that decides which Westminster Abbey tickets you buy, and it is a question I’d answer with a yes if you care about British history and a no if you want a quick photo stop. The Abbey has been the setting of the coronations of 40 monarchs since 1066, per Wikipedia, and it holds burials of 18 monarchs. It also hosted at least 16 royal weddings since 1100, which puts the building at the centre of the royal story.

If you want to pair Westminster Abbey tickets with the Houses of Parliament, the Walks listing is the only one in my set that includes both. It costs $159, is rated 4.5 from 390 reviews, and runs 225 minutes. It includes skip-the-line entry and a guided tour of the Abbey, plus exclusive entry and a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. It meets at the statue of Viscount Palmerston in Parliament Square.

“SUPER, both guide (one in the ABBEY, the other called Phillipe in the Parliamnet) absolutely professional, smart, well informed about the builing's history and nowadays news I enjoyed it so much:)” – GetYourGuide review

A reviewer said they liked both but thought the Abbey guide was better than the Parliament one, and that standing in the House of Commons and the House of Lords was quite amazing. That mixed review is why I give this one a lower rating than the others.

Is Westminster Abbey Worth Visiting?

Is Westminster Abbey worth visiting if you only have a day in London? I’d say yes, because it sits 4 minutes’ walk from Big Ben and 11 from the London Eye by my estimates. The card for this question is the German-language option: Rosotravel’s Skip-the-Line London Westminster Abbey Guided Tour in German at $100, rated 4.8 from 176 reviews. It lasts 4 hours, is limited to 20 people, has a 5-star licensed guide fluent in German and includes skip-the-line tickets and a walking tour of Westminster. “Die gesamte Tour war toll, sehr interessant, informativ und eindrucksvoll. Der guite war klasse, sie hat sehr viel Wissen, war nett, sehr empathisch und hilfsbereit. Diese Tour und der deutschsprachige guite ist nur zu empfehlen.” – GetYourGuide review

The reviews are in German and praise the guide’s historical knowledge and humour. If you are visiting in English, the Rosotravel listing above has the same operator and more options.

Why Is Westminster Abbey Important?

Westminster Abbey is important because it has been the coronation church of English and British monarchs since 1066, and because so much of the national story is buried or commemorated there. Wikipedia gives the burial of 18 monarchs and at least 16 royal weddings since 1100, and Wikidata gives the founding date as 901. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that also covers the Palace of Westminster and St Margaret’s Church, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. A reviewer of the entry ticket noted that you can see the shared tomb of Elizabeth I and Mary I, and the place where Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II were crowned. That is why a Westminster Abbey ticket is worth more than a walk past the front, and why I compare every ticket for Westminster Abbey on this page.

I did not match a ticket to this question, because every one of the Westminster Abbey tickets above already covers it. For the history in plain form, a guide inside, such as the Amigo or Premium Tours options, is the way to hear it.

Opening Hours and Getting There

Match your Westminster Abbey tickets to the hours. The official visit page gives 9:30 am to 4:30 pm with last entry at 3:30 pm, and 9 am to 4 pm on Saturdays with last entry at 3 pm. Sunday is listed as open for services only. Westminster is the nearest Underground station, about 5 minutes on foot by my estimate, and St James’s Park is about 7. Charing Cross and Waterloo are each about 15 minutes away, and the Transport for London site covers live service. Visitors enter by the North Entrance on Parliament Square. My Westminster Abbey opening hours and visitor guide has the day-by-day table for your Westminster Abbey tickets, bag rules and the route.

Which Ticket Fits You

Near Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey sits in the middle of the city’s best-known sights, so a Westminster Abbey ticket fits easily into a day of sightseeing, and the places below are all within walking distance except the last two. The times are my estimates from straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 at 4.8 km/h. Big Ben is the nearest, about 4 minutes on foot, and the London Eye is about 11 minutes across Westminster Bridge, with the London Dungeon in the same County Hall building. Trafalgar Square is about 16 minutes and Buckingham Palace about 17. St Paul’s Cathedral is about 42 minutes and The Shard about 47, so I’d take the Tube for those. The Tower of London is about an hour on foot, and Sky Garden is another City view if you want to end the day high up.

How I’d Choose

Frequently asked questions

Do you need to buy tickets in advance for Westminster Abbey?

The Abbey's own visit page says advance booking is highly recommended to guarantee entry during busy periods, so I'd book Westminster Abbey tickets ahead for weekends and school holidays. Some offers, such as National Rail 2-for-1, can only be bought on the door. A GetYourGuide voucher can be cancelled up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund.

How much is the entry fee to Westminster Abbey?

The official opening times and prices page lists adults at 32 pounds, over-65s and students at 29 pounds, children aged 6 to 17 at 14 pounds, and under-6s free. On GetYourGuide the entry ticket is $43, rated 4.6 from 14,765 reviews, and includes a multimedia guide. Guided tours with entry run from $93 to $159.

Can you buy tickets to Westminster Abbey at the door?

Yes for some visitors. The official page describes door-only offers such as National Rail 2-for-1 tickets, which cannot be pre-booked on the website. Its visit page still recommends booking in advance to guarantee entry in busy periods, and last entry is 3:30 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on Saturdays, so a walk-up arrival is a gamble.

Is it worth it to go inside Westminster Abbey?

I think so for a first visit. The Abbey has hosted the coronations of 40 monarchs since 1066 per Wikipedia, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entry ticket has 4.6 stars from 14,765 reviews, and reviewers praise the audio guide and the history. If you only want the outside, Parliament Square is free.

Is 2 hours enough for Westminster Abbey?

Two hours is what the entry ticket listing gives as its duration, and one reviewer wrote that you need close to two hours to explore it. Guided tours inside the Abbey are also listed at 2 hours. Allow extra time for security and the queue, and more if you want to read the memorials slowly.

Can I bring a bag into Westminster Abbey?

Only small ones. The official visit page says bags and items larger than cabin bag size, 55 cm by 40 cm by 20 cm, are not permitted in the building, and there is walk-through security at all doors. Large rucksacks and suitcases should stay at your hotel.

Can I wear jeans to Westminster Abbey?

I could not find a dress code on the official visit pages I read, so I can't quote a rule. It is a working church, so I'd wear something comfortable that you'd be happy to wear in any place of worship, and check the official site if you are unsure.

Is Westminster Abbey open on Sundays?

The official visit page lists Sunday only as open for services, and I found no Sunday sightseeing hours. Services are free to attend. If you want to look around the building, plan your visit for Monday to Saturday and check the opening times calendar for your date.
