Colosseum Admission Tickets – Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum Guided Tour

Rome attraction tickets start at $8 for a Pantheon entry with an audio guide, and the cheapest Colosseum option is a $24 sunset tour. The most reviewed sight is the Sistine Chapel entrance, at 4.5 stars from 160,078 reviews. Entry to St. Peter’s Basilica is free per its official site. I’d book the Colosseum tour at $48 and the Vatican visit at $66 first.

I compared 19 sights in Rome and the day trips around it, and every one has its own page on this site. This page is the starting point for Rome attraction tickets: it shows prices side by side, tells you which Rome attraction tickets are worth booking in which order, and sends you to the detailed page for each sight. Prices are in US dollars, checked in November 2026, and the tickets that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links (see my about page).

Rome Attraction Tickets at a Glance

This table lists the lowest price, the rating of the most-reviewed product and whether you can walk in for free. Prices come from the listings, so treat them as starting points. Each name opens the full ticket comparison for that Rome attraction.

Civita di Bagnoregio $134 4.7 from 116 No, 5 euro village fee

Rome attraction tickets fall into three kinds in my data: plain entry tickets, tours that include entry, and passes. Most of the 19 sights sell mainly the second kind, so read the title before you assume a listing is a gate ticket. A few of those rows deserve a warning. Spanish Steps, Appian Way and Villa Borghese tickets are tours and classes around free places, not entry fees. Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa products are Tivoli day trips that include both sights. Civita di Bagnoregio is another full day out of Rome.

What Rome Attraction Tickets Include

Before the sight-by-sight detail, here is how I read any listing. A plain entry ticket gets you in at a set time, and an audio guide is usually an app on your own phone. A guided tour adds a person and often a meeting point away from the entrance. A pass bundles several sights, with the catch that each one still needs its own slot. Every ticket page here shows what the product includes, and the card under each pick lists inclusions, languages and the cancellation window, so you can compare Rome attraction tickets without opening a dozen tabs.

Ancient Rome Tickets: Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill

The core of the ancient city is one cluster, and the attraction tickets for it are the ones most visitors to Rome buy first. The Colosseum tickets page is where I’d start. Of the 10 products I compared, only one is a plain entry ticket, and the other nine are guided tours that include entry. The official Colosseum site says a timed slot is mandatory, so these tickets run out before the date, not on it. The $48 Rutas Romanas tour is my pick for a first visit, at 4.8 stars from 36,276 reviews.

The Roman Forum tickets and Palatine Hill tickets pages cover the same ground from the other side. The park ticket covers all three sites, so a Forum ticket is really a Colosseum ticket with a different front page. The cheapest Forum entry is $35, and Palatine Hill starts at $25 with an audio app. If you are short of time, I would pick one combined product and skip separate listings.

Two sights nearby need their own bookings. The Domus Aurea tickets are for Nero’s buried palace, and all five products I found are guided visits from $62, with a virtual-reality section in several. The Circus Maximus tickets page is mostly about a VR visit and a Baths of Caracalla walk, because the track itself is an open field you can walk along for free.

Vatican City: Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s

The Vatican is a separate half-day, and the attraction tickets for it overlap. The Vatican Museums tickets page and the Sistine Chapel tickets page describe nearly the same entrance, because the chapel is the last room of the museum route. The official site sells the full ticket at 20 euros plus a 5 euro online fee, per the Vatican Museums ticket page. GetYourGuide entries start at $32 and guided tours at $55.

The St. Peter’s Basilica tickets page is different, because entry to the church costs nothing. What you pay for is a guide, the papal tombs or the dome climb. The KK Tour at $33 is my pick for a first visit, with 4.7 stars from 6,462 reviews.

Nearby, the Castel Sant’Angelo tickets cover the papal fortress on the river, from $20 for entry with a digital audio guide. It’s a good add-on for the same day, since it sits about 1.3 km from the Basilica on foot by my estimate, and I’d use its calmer queue as a break from the Vatican crowds.

Historic Centre: Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps

The centre between the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps is the part of Rome you can see mostly on foot and mostly for free. The Pantheon tickets are the exception, starting at $8 and reaching $21 for a live-guided visit from Crown Tours, 4.8 from 5,685 reviews.

For the Trevi Fountain tickets, note that the fountain is free to see from the piazza. According to ANSA, the basin area has cost 2 euros for non-residents since 2 February 2026. The Trevi Fountain ticket options I compared start at $13 and add a guide or an underground visit.

The Spanish Steps tickets page is about tours and food classes near the steps, since the steps themselves have no ticket. I’d treat them as a free stop on a walk, and only book the $22 city walks if you want the guide.

The Borghese Gallery is the one museum here where I would not turn up without a reservation. The Borghese Gallery tickets page covers a ticket priced at 18 euros on the official Gebart ticketing page, where advance booking is obligatory. On GetYourGuide the cheapest entry is $39, and the Crown Tours small-group visit at $55 is the one I’d choose, with 4.8 stars from 2,276 reviews.

The park around it is free. The Villa Borghese tickets page lists only four activities, such as an e-bike tour from $67, because wandering the gardens costs nothing.

Catacombs and the Appian Way

South of the walls, the Catacombs of Rome tickets are the cheapest underground visit, from $16 for a guided entry to San Callisto, San Sebastiano, Priscilla or Domitilla. I’d book San Callisto first, as the most-reviewed one at 4.6 stars from 3,781 reviews. The catacombs sell their own tickets too, at 10 euros for adults per their official sites.

The Appian Way tickets are bike tours on an ancient road you can walk for free. The ESBIKE tour at $71, 4.9 from 1,872 reviews, is the one I’d book if you want an e-bike and catacombs in one morning. It pairs naturally with the catacombs, since both lie on the same side of the city.

Day Trips From Rome: Tivoli and Civita di Bagnoregio

Two kinds of Rome attraction tickets are for sights too far to walk to, and each needs a full day. The Villa d’Este tickets page and the Hadrian’s Villa tickets page cover the same group of Tivoli day trips. All of them start in Rome, and none is a gate-only ticket. The cheapest is the Enjoy Rome full-day tour at $72, and the Tours About trip with lunch at $106 is my pick.

The Civita di Bagnoregio tickets cover a hilltop village with a 5 euro entry fee, and every product I found is a day trip from Rome from $134. Pick it only if you have a spare day, because it is the most expensive trip on this list.

Which Rome Attraction Tickets to Book First

Book Rome attraction tickets by how fast the slot sells, not by how famous the sight is. The Colosseum, the Vatican Museums and the Borghese Gallery all use timed entry, so they come first. Every other attraction ticket in Rome, from the Pantheon to the Catacombs of Rome, can wait until you know your route.

Those totals only add up the prices I listed above, so check them against the live listing before you buy. If you are staying longer than three days, the Appian Way and the catacombs fit a morning, and a Tivoli day trip fits the day you are tired of queues.

Free Attractions in Rome

Rome has far more free than paid sights if you count the open-air ones, so not every visit needs attraction tickets in Rome at all. St. Peter’s Basilica, the Spanish Steps, the Villa Borghese park and a walk along the Appian Way cost nothing and need no Rome attraction ticket, and the Trevi Fountain is free from the piazza. Several paid sites also have a free day, such as the first Sunday of the month at the Colosseum, as the official Colosseum site lists. My free attractions in Rome page has each rule with its source.

Rome Attractions Map

If you want to see where your Rome attraction tickets point you, my Rome attractions map pins every attraction on one map and links each pin to its ticket page. It also gives walking times between neighbours, so you can pair sights into mornings without crossing the city twice.

Do Rome Attraction Tickets Come as a City Pass?

Some Rome attraction tickets are sold as one city pass, and there are ten such products on GetYourGuide, priced from $25 to $166. The Rome City Pass at $155 has 4.1 stars from 1,636 reviews, the Omnia Vatican and Rome Pass at $166 has 3.7 from 4,907, and the Official Roma Pass at $45 has 3.2 from 150. Those scores are lower than most of the single Rome attraction tickets above. My Rome City Pass compared page puts the prices against a real itinerary.

How I’d Choose Rome Attraction Tickets

Frequently asked questions

Which Rome attraction tickets should I book first?

Book the Colosseum with Forum and Palatine Hill first, then the Vatican Museums. Both use timed entry, and the Colosseum site says tickets are named and go on sale 30 days ahead. I'd start with the Rutas Romanas Colosseum tour at $48 and the Crown Tours Vatican visit at $66, then fill the rest of the trip around those two slots.

What is the cheapest of the Rome attraction tickets worth buying?

The cheapest listing I found is an $8 Pantheon entry with an audio guide, and the $9 reserved St. Peter's Basilica audio product comes next. For a ticket that opens a major interior at a low price, Castel Sant'Angelo at $20 and the Catacombs of Rome at $16 are the ones I'd look at.

Which sights in Rome are free?

St. Peter's Basilica is free to enter according to its official site, and the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese park and a walk on the Appian Way cost nothing. The Trevi Fountain is free to look at, though the basin area has cost 2 euros since 2 February 2026. My free-attractions page has the full list.

Do I need a Rome city pass?

Probably not. The passes on GetYourGuide are $25 to $166 and the ones with a meaningful number of reviews score 3.2 to 4.3, mostly below the single tickets here. A pass only helps if you will use the transport and enter many paid sites. I work the sums through on my city pass page.

Can I buy Rome attraction tickets on the day?

For the big sites I wouldn't plan on it. The Colosseum official site says a timed slot is mandatory and tickets are named, and the Borghese Gallery says advance booking is obligatory. Churches and open-air sights are different and need no ticket.

How many days do I need to see the main Rome sights?

Three days covers the Colosseum area, the Vatican and the centre between the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. In two days I would drop the Borghese Gallery and the catacombs. Tivoli and Civita di Bagnoregio are separate day trips and cost a full day each.

Are Rome attraction tickets cheaper from the official sites?

Sometimes for entry only. The Vatican Museums official ticket is 20 euros plus a 5 euro online fee, and the Borghese Gallery is 18 euros per the Gebart ticketing page. The GetYourGuide products I compared add a guide, a meeting point, or free cancellation, and several start at $32 to $39.

Where is the best place to see all Rome sights on a map?

My Rome attractions map pins every sight on this page with a link to its tickets and walking times between neighbours. The ancient sites sit within about 10 minutes of each other on foot, while the Vatican is roughly an hour from the Colosseum.
