St Paul's Cathedral Tickets – St Paul's Cathedral Entry Ticket

The cheapest St Paul’s Cathedral ticket on GetYourGuide is the $36 entry ticket, and it is also the most reviewed at 4.7 stars from 11,596 reviews. The Cathedral sells its own tickets at stpauls.co.uk from 27 pounds for an adult. For a first visit I’d book the entry ticket, and only add a tour or a boat if you want the extra.

I compared all 8 St Paul’s Cathedral tickets and tours you can book on GetYourGuide right now, and every one can be cancelled up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund. Three are plain entry tickets with a boat ride, one is the plain entry ticket, and four are tours or city passes that include the Cathedral. Prices are in US dollars from the listings, checked in November 2026, and the links that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links (more on that on my about page). St Paul’s is a working church, so sightseeing is closed on Sundays outside a short summer window, which I cover in my opening hours guide.

“Great experience steeped in history another box ticked.” – GetYourGuide review

Reviewers praise the building and the audio guide.

Arriving early is definitely a plus because it's not crowded yet. The church is fantastic, and the audio guide is super customizable depending on what you're interested in.
— GetYourGuide reviewer

Another reviewer wrote that the steps are a bit of a challenge but the view is worth it. With the official adult ticket at 27 pounds, the $36 listing is close to the official price once you convert it, so I book it for the flexible cancellation, not to save money.

Skip-the-Line St Paul’s Cathedral Tickets

Skip-the-line St Paul’s Cathedral tickets are not what the top card in this section sells, so I want to be straight about it. The card is the St Paul’s and Return River Thames Ride on Uber Boat at $66, rated 4.5, but from only 2 reviews, so treat the score as a placeholder. The listing includes entry to the Cathedral, the floor, the crypt, the Dome Galleries, a multimedia guide and a return boat ticket valid in the Central and East zones between Battersea Power Station and Barking Riverside. It does not mention skipping a queue.

Of all the St Paul’s Cathedral tickets here, the only listing that uses queue wording is the WeGoTrip audio tour further down, which says to show your phone ticket at the access-with-ticket entrance. The official site does not describe a queue-skipping product, so I would not pay extra for a skip-the-line label on St Paul’s Cathedral tickets alone.

St Paul’s Cathedral Tour

A St Paul’s Cathedral tour with a guide is the Harry Potter walk at $127, from Top Sights Tours LLC, rated 5 from 1 review. This tour does not centre on the inside of the Cathedral. It is a 3-hour walking tour of Potter film locations starting at King’s Cross, plus a 40-minute Thames River cruise and a St Paul’s ticket, 6 hours in all. It runs in English in small groups and meets in front of the stairs leading up to the Parcel Yard inside King’s Cross Station. The stops include Cecil Court, the Palace Theatre, Goodwin’s Court, Leicester Square, Borough Market and London Bridge.

Food, drinks, hotel pick-up and two tube journeys, about 6 pounds per the listing, are extra. If you want a guide inside St Paul’s itself, the official site mentions guided and self-guided tours of the crypt and galleries, and the entry ticket lets you join talks on arrival. St Paul’s Cathedral tickets that come with a guide covering the interior in depth are a different product from this one. I compare every tour with entry on my St Paul’s Cathedral tours page.

St Paul Cathedral Church Ticket Price

The ticket price for the church comes in three versions of St Paul’s Cathedral tickets: the official price, the GetYourGuide entry ticket and bundles with a boat. The card in this section is a leftover and not the lowest price: the St Paul’s Cathedral and One-Way Thames Boat Ride from Uber Boat by Thames Clippers at $51. It includes entry to the floor, crypt and Dome Galleries, a multimedia guide, access to exhibitions and art installations, and a single boat trip within the Central and East zones. Nothing in the listing gives a rating yet.

The gap to the $36 entry ticket is $15, which is the price of the one-way boat. If you were going to take the Thames Clippers boat anyway, the bundle may be cheaper than buying both, but I can’t check the fare on the operator’s site, so compare before you book.

St Paul’s Cathedral Tickets 2 for 1

I found no 2-for-1 deal on the official ticket page, so I can’t confirm that St Paul’s Cathedral tickets 2 for 1 offers exist. The page lists a family ticket for two adults and two or three children at 64.50 pounds, a one-adult family ticket at 37.50 pounds and a group rate for 15 or more. The 1 pound sightseeing ticket has terms that apply, so read them on the official page.

The card for this section is the nearest thing to a bundle: Golden Tours Gray Line’s Half Day Tour of London with St Paul’s Cathedral entry at $94. It is a 3-hour panoramic coach tour with admission to the Cathedral, a river boat ride and a professional guide, in English. St Paul’s Cathedral Tickets Discount

Discount St Paul’s Cathedral tickets are mainly the official concessions, not GetYourGuide sales. Per the official page, seniors aged 65 and over and students with photo ID pay 24 pounds instead of 27, children aged 6 to 17 pay 10.50 pounds, and a 10 percent donation is optional. Infants aged 0 to 5 and disabled visitors with one carer are free.

The card here is a leftover, not a discount: the WeGoTrip St Paul’s Cathedral ticket and city audio tour at $65, with no reviews yet. It includes the entrance ticket via the WeGoTrip app, a downloadable audio tour of London and a live GPS route. It does not include a personal guide, headphones or an audio tour inside St Paul’s, so inside the building you would use the Cathedral’s own multimedia guide only if it comes with the ticket, which the listing does not say. It lasts 1 hour.

At $65 against $36 for the plain entry, you pay $29 for the app tour outside the Cathedral, which I’d only do if you want a route between sights.

Do You Have to Pay to Get Into St Paul’s Cathedral

You pay to look round and not to pray. The Cathedral’s visit page says it is free to attend for services, and the ticket page makes sightseeing a paid visit for everyone except infants aged 0 to 5, disabled visitors with a carer and Friends of St Paul’s. Choosing between plain St Paul’s Cathedral tickets and a pass is the real decision once you accept that.

The card here is the pass: St Paul’s Cathedral and a 1-Day Uber Boat River Pass at $73, valid on 24 hours of unlimited use in all zones between Putney and Barking Riverside. It includes the floor, crypt and Dome Galleries, a multimedia guide and exhibitions. It has no reviews yet. The visit takes about 2 hours per the listing, and the rest of the pass is your day on the river.

If you will use the boat several times, this pass makes more sense than the one-way bundle at $51 or the return at $66.

Why Is St Paul’s Cathedral So Important

St Paul’s matters for its history and its building. Per Wikipedia, the present cathedral was designed by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666 and completed in 1710, on the site of a church founded in AD 604. At 111 metres it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1963, and it hosted the state funerals of Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Winston Churchill.

The card is a half-day city tour that includes it, the Golden Tours Gray Line City Tour with St Paul’s Cathedral at $94 and 4 hours. It includes a panoramic tour, entry to the Cathedral, the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, an optional boat ride, a coach and a guide, in English. The two reviews I can see are critical about the meeting arrangements, one saying the organisation at the meeting point was chaotic and that there was no audio guide option at St Paul’s. That is a warning to read the plan closely.

“Organisation am Treffpunkt chaotisch und hektisch, Tourguide erweckte den Eindruck keine Lust zu haben. Bei St. Pauls gab es keine Möglichkeit eine Audioguide zu bekommen, nicht mal mit Extragebühr.” – GetYourGuide review

What Is St Paul’s Cathedral Famous For

St Paul’s Cathedral is famous for Wren’s dome, which Wikipedia says is still one of the highest in the world, and for the Whispering Gallery 257 steps up, which the official page lists. It is also known for events: the 1981 royal wedding took place here because the cathedral offered more seating, and the Diamond Jubilee thanksgiving service for Elizabeth II was held on 5 June 2012. It survived the Blitz even though bombs struck it on 10 October 1940 and 17 April 1941.

St Paul’s Cathedral tickets include the crypt, which Wikipedia calls the largest in Europe under an entire building, is the other draw, and reviewers on the entry ticket describe it as very interesting.

Is St Paul’s Cathedral Worth Visiting and a Must See?

Yes, in my view, and St Paul’s Cathedral tickets are worth it if you will climb or care about architecture. The entry ticket has 4.7 stars from 11,596 reviews, Google Maps rates the Cathedral 4.7 from 58,620 reviews, and one reviewer put it simply: it is incredibly beautiful, and 528 steps later you have an outstanding view from the top. It sits within walking distance of the Tower of London and London Bridge, so St Paul’s Cathedral tickets fit a City of London day. If you dislike stairs, the floor and crypt are still worth the ticket, but skip the galleries.

Opening Hours and Getting There

St Paul’s Cathedral tickets are for sightseeing from 8:30 am Monday to Saturday, with last entry usually at 4 pm and Dome Galleries opening at 9:30 am, per the official visit page. St Paul’s station on the Central line is a 2 minute walk by my estimate, and Blackfriars and Mansion House are 6 to 7 minutes. Full hours, last entry and bag rules are in my opening hours guide.

How I’d Choose

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to enter St Paul's Cathedral?

The official ticket page lists adults at 27 pounds and children aged 6 to 17 at 10.50 pounds from September 2026, with seniors and students at 24 pounds. In summer (25 June to 1 September 2026) adults pay 24 pounds. On GetYourGuide the entry ticket is $36, rated 4.7 from 11,596 reviews, and includes a multimedia guide in 9 languages.

Is St Paul's Cathedral free?

Only for worship. The official site says it is free to attend the Cathedral for services, and infants aged 0 to 5, disabled visitors with one carer and Friends of St Paul's get in free. Sightseeing is ticketed for everyone else, so walking in to look round the floor, crypt and dome means buying a ticket.

Do you have to pay to go to St Paul's?

Yes for sightseeing, no for services. The official ticket page prices Monday to Saturday sightseeing, while the site says services are free to attend. If you only want the outside, the churchyard and the view of the dome from the street cost nothing.

Can you just walk in to St Paul's Cathedral?

For a service, yes. For sightseeing you need a ticket, which the official site sells online and the Cathedral recommends checking the What's On calendar before you go. Last entry is usually 4 pm, and opening times can change, so I'd book a ticket for a set day instead of relying on walking up.

How many steps are there to the top of St Paul's Cathedral?

The official planning page gives 257 steps to the Whispering Gallery, 376 to the Stone Gallery and 528 to the Golden Gallery. The galleries are reached by stairs only, and the Cathedral advises people with mobility difficulties or a fear of heights or confined spaces not to attempt them.

Is it worth it to go inside St Paul's Cathedral?

I think so for a first visit. The entry ticket has 4.7 stars from 11,596 reviews, and the price covers the cathedral floor, the crypt and the dome galleries with a multimedia guide. Reviewers single out the architecture, the crypt and the view from the top, and several mention the climb as tiring but worth it.

Why is St Paul's so expensive?

The official page does not explain its pricing, so I can't give the reason. What I can say is that the ticket covers three separate areas, the floor, the crypt and the dome galleries, plus multimedia guides, and a 10 percent donation is optional. Family tickets, senior and student rates and a 1 pound ticket with terms are also listed.
