A Windsor Castle tour from London is mostly a transport decision, because the castle visit itself is the same State Apartments and St George’s Chapel route whatever you buy. I compared nine coach tours that include Windsor Castle, from a $52 half-day to a $178 half-day with the London Eye, and day trips that add Stonehenge, Bath or Hampton Court Palace. This page sets them side by side with the route, guide, entry, meeting point and what reviewers say. If you want the castle alone, my guide to tickets for Windsor Castle covers the official ticket and every option.
What a Windsor Castle Tour Adds Over a Plain Ticket
The official ticket from Royal Collection Trust is the starting point: for 2026 an adult pays 32 pounds in advance or 36 pounds on the day, per the Royal Collection Trust site. On GetYourGuide the plain admission ticket is $43. A Windsor Castle tour adds the coach from London and, on the long days, a guide and other sights. On the half-day tours it does not add a live guide, and I will say which ones.
One warning applies to all nine. Windsor is a working royal palace, and the listings say it can close at short notice. Google Maps shows it closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and St George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays. Check your date against the closures before you pick a tour.
Half-Day Windsor Castle Tours From London
Four tours spend the afternoon at the castle and bring you back to London. The first two are the plain ones.
Evan Evans sells Windsor Castle with Transport from $52. It is 5.5 hours, 4.3 stars from 1,017 reviews, in English. You meet at the Evan Evans office on Vauxhall Bridge Road. The castle entry and the audio guide are included only if you select the inclusive option, the visit is self-guided, and the tour guide is listed as not included. A reviewer called it more a bus transfer than a tour, and another felt rushed with 2 hours on site. GetYourGuide’s summary says travellers want more time for St George’s Chapel and the town.

“Stephen was an excellent guide! The castle was amazing and wished we were there longer.” – GetYourGuide review
Golden Tours has the Royal Afternoon Sightseeing Tour at $92, 4.3 from 310 reviews, also 5.5 hours. The price includes entry to the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and St George’s Chapel, plus the coach there and back and audio guides in eight languages. The live guide is not included, and the listing calls the tour unescorted. A reviewer found the afternoon tight for the castle and the surroundings, and another was confused about when to show up. The summary notes the return drop-off can differ from the pickup point.

“Bus was very comfortable. Guide was great. Had enough time to see castle and surrounding shopping areas. May need more time if want to see all the art. Also got to skip the line which is nice to enter.” – GetYourGuide review
Premium Tours has two half-day versions that add something to the day, and both have a small sample of reviews. The fish and chips tour is $158, 4.5 stars from 26 reviews. It includes the coach, castle entrance and a fish and chips lunch in London, departing from Victoria Coach Station Gate 20 at 7:45 AM (check-in from 7:30). Several of the lower-scoring reviews describe a disordered departure, a combined group and no real guide, so I would treat 4.5 with care.

“Great day out. Did the extended trip then lunch. Could have spent more time there” – GetYourGuide review
The London Eye version is $178, 4.1 stars from 33 reviews, with the Eye ticket in the price. It is the most expensive Windsor Castle tour I compared. One reviewer says the guide and driver only accompanied the group to the castle entrance, then moved on with another group. I would book it only if the Eye is on your list.

“Everything thing is amazing and I loved it all and especially the guidance in the Palace” – GetYourGuide review
If you want a guide and more than one sight, four full-day Windsor Castle tours do that, and they carry far more reviews.
The Evan Evans Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath tour is the one I would start with, because 3,681 reviews at 4.4 is the biggest sample. It costs $95 for 11 hours and includes a guide, a coach with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and USB chargers and a personal headset. Entries to the castle, Stonehenge and the Roman Baths are included only if you select that option. It runs in seven languages and leaves from the kiosk opposite Gate 1 inside Victoria Coach Station. The summary says it feels rushed at Windsor and Bath, which is the cost of three sights in a day.

“Fabulous! Both Richard (guide) and Lucien (driver) were highly qualified, professionals. They made our day efficient, well organized and successful!” – GetYourGuide review
Premium Tours charges $105 for a 12-hour Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath day, 4.5 stars from 533 reviews. It has a professional guide, a luxury coach, Stonehenge entry and a panoramic coach tour in Bath, with the castle entry and the Roman Baths as options. Travel between London and Stonehenge is about 2 hours each way, per the listing. A reviewer who took the higher-priced option liked the faster queues at every site.

“Our tour guide Nick was awesome!! He was fun, engaging & knowledgeable. Thanks Nick & Carlos!” – GetYourGuide review
Golden Tours has two versions. Extended Visit to Windsor Castle and Stonehenge is $92 for 10 hours, 4.3 stars from 515 reviews, in English, Spanish and Italian, with the castle and Stonehenge entries as options. A reviewer praised having over 3 hours at the castle, and the summary says the walk and security queue still cut into time. The Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge day is $162 for 11 hours, 4.4 from 160 reviews, and includes admissions to the castle and Stonehenge but not the Roman Baths. It finishes near Gloucester Road station. One reviewer wrote it is a long day but worth it, and one advised bringing food.

The only royal-palace pairing is Golden Tours’ Windsor Castle and Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace, $119 for 7 hours with a panoramic tour of London. It has 4.6 stars from 160 reviews, the best score among the tours with a decent sample. The listing offers the Hampton Court and Windsor State Apartments tickets as options, includes a professional guide, and has two meeting points depending on your option. A reviewer wished for more time at Hampton Court, and another said the day was a little too long and Windsor could be an hour shorter. Another found it pricey.

My pick: Two royal sites in one day: $119, 7 hours, guide and London panorama, 4.6 from 160 reviews, entries as options.
On the full-day Windsor Castle tours, yes: the guides and drivers get the praise, and the complaint is time. In the review texts I read, the day is long, the stops feel short, and the long drive is made easier by a good guide. On the half-day tours, the complaints are about organisation, from late departures to guides who only walk you to the entrance.
“Wonderful highlights tour of 3 incredible landmarks. Manon, our guide, and Russell, our driver, took great care of us all throughout the day.”
— GetYourGuide reviewer
That tells me to book the larger-sample full-day tours when you want a guide, and to read the included list on the half-day ones.
Guided Windsor Castle Tour or Ticket Only?
If you only want the castle, the plain Royal Collection Trust ticket at $43 includes a multimedia guide and is the cheaper way in, as my tickets page explains. The Evan Evans half-day at $52 costs $9 more and adds the coach, but the castle entry is part of the price only on its inclusive option. The tour is worth more when it goes on to Stonehenge or Bath, which are hard to reach on your own. If your day is just Windsor, I would take the train and the official ticket.
Small Group, Private or Standard Windsor Castle Tours
None of the nine listings states a group size, and none is a private tour. They are all standard coach tours, so the split on a Windsor Castle tour is guided against unguided. The Evan Evans full-day, Premium Tours day and both Golden Tours Stonehenge days have a guide. The Evan Evans half-day and Golden Tours afternoon do not, and the reviews of the Premium Tours half-days report a guide only to the entrance.
How I’d Choose a Windsor Castle Tour
A guide and three sights: Evan Evans at $95, for the 3,681 reviews and seven languages.
Best-value full day: Premium Tours at $105 with Stonehenge entry included.
Cheapest transport: Evan Evans at $52, choosing the inclusive option for the entry.
Entry in the price, half a day: Golden Tours at $92.
Two palaces: Golden Tours with Hampton Court at $119.
Only Windsor, with a guide: I could not find a Windsor Castle tour like that, so take the official ticket and its multimedia guide.
I think so if you do not want to organise trains, or if you want Windsor with Stonehenge or Bath in one day. The Evan Evans Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath tour at $95 has 4.4 stars from 3,681 reviews. For Windsor alone, the train and the official ticket are the cheaper route, and the half-day coach tours add the ride, not a guide.
Do Windsor Castle tours include a live guide?+
The full-day tours do, but the half-day Windsor-only tours mostly do not. The Evan Evans $52 listing lists a guest services assistant and excludes a tour guide, and the Golden Tours $92 afternoon tour lists audio guides and excludes a live guide. The castle visit itself is self-guided with an audio guide on those tours.
Is Windsor Castle entry included in the tours?+
Often only if you select the right option. Both Evan Evans tours, the $105 Premium Tours day and the $92 and $119 Golden Tours listings make the castle entry an option you choose. Golden Tours' Royal Afternoon tour, the two Premium Tours half-days and the $162 Golden Tours Stonehenge and Bath day trip list it in the price.
How long are Windsor Castle tours?+
The half-day tours from London run 5.5 hours. Windsor with Hampton Court Palace is 7 hours, Windsor with Stonehenge is 10 to 11 hours, and the Stonehenge and Bath days are 11 or 12 hours. Reviewers of the long days say they are tiring but worth it.
Which days do Windsor Castle tours not run to the castle?+
Windsor Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays per Google Maps, and one listing also names 24 to 26 December. St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays. The Golden Tours afternoon listing says a walking tour of Windsor runs on the closed days instead.
Where do Windsor Castle tours leave from?+
Most leave from Victoria. Evan Evans uses the kiosk opposite Gate 1 inside Victoria Coach Station for the full-day tour, Premium Tours uses Gate 19 or Gate 20, Golden Tours uses Stop Z6 on Grosvenor Gardens or Bulleid Way, and the Evan Evans half-day tour meets at its office on Vauxhall Bridge Road.
