If you are planning your Park Güell opening hours, the short answer is that the official site sells ticket time bands from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and the early morning and evening slots belong to local residents. These Park Güell opening hours come from the official site or from Google Maps, and I flag where the two differ. Once you have your slot, my Park Güell tickets page compares every option, and the home page lists the other attractions I cover.

Park Güell Opening Hours

The official Park Güell opening hours are published as time bands for ticket sales, not as a single door-opening time. The first and last bands with tickets for sale run from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and the park says it is open all year round. Two periods are closed to tourists: 7 am to 9:30 am, called Bon Dia Barcelona, and 6 pm to 10 pm, called Bon Vespre Barcelona. Both are reserved for neighbours and Passi Verd bookings, according to the official prices and times page.

The official page also lists an opening time, a closing time and a last hour of access by season, but those values load dynamically and did not appear when I read the page. So I cannot tell you the exact winter or summer closing time, and I would rather say that than guess. Google Maps has no opening hours for the park itself in my data, but it lists the Gaudí House Museum inside the grounds as follows:

Day Gaudí House Museum per Google Maps
Monday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Tuesday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Wednesday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Thursday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Saturday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Sunday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

Trust the official site over Google Maps whenever the two differ, and check the Park Güell opening hours again close to your date.

Park Guell Opening Times

Park Guell opening times work like a timed gate, and the Park Guell opening hours you see in listings are really entry windows. Your ticket carries the start of a half-hour window, and the official site says you can enter up to 30 minutes after it; with a 9:30 reservation you can enter until 10:00, and after that you lose your right to enter. The access regulations add that the maximum capacity is 700 visitors per 30 minutes, and the FAQ page says access is limited to 1,400 visitors per hour.

That is why the lateness warnings in the tour listings are strict. The Sun2Spain listing says there are no accommodations for late arrivals and no refunds, and the Crown Tours listing says you cannot pass through the park to reach its meeting point. Once you have been through the gate you can stay as long as you like, but you cannot re-enter after leaving.

Parc Guell Opening Hours and Working Hours

People searching for Parc Guell opening hours, or for the park’s working hours, are often asking whether they can simply turn up. The official site says that you can try, but that it cannot guarantee entry at the time you want, because the park has limited capacity, especially when many tourists are visiting. Its own advice is to buy online, in advance, and exclusively through the official website, where you can pick the date and time up to three months ahead.

Park Güell opening hours and working hours also change when conservation work is under way. The official maps page says that because of maintenance works some spaces may be under construction or restoration, and it links a page of current disruptions. A reviewer of the Gaudí House Museum ticket said the park did not open until 9:30, and that the staff explained this patiently to everyone who arrived early.

Park Guell Hours of Operation and Hours Barcelona Visitors Should Check

Park Guell hours of operation matter most on the day your plans are tight, so here is the checklist I use for the Park Güell opening hours. First, the time on your ticket is the start of your entry window, not a closing time. Second, the Park Güell opening hours have a hard gate for the first and last bands: the first sold slot is 9:30 am and the last is 5:30 pm, per the official page. Third, the neighbours’ morning and evening periods mean the park is never open to tourists before 9:30 am.

The Park Guell opening hours that Barcelona guides sometimes quote are older figures, and the official page itself says its times are shown by season, so treat any figure on a third-party site as a hint. I record the facts I could not read in my notes and recheck them: the seasonal closing time and the last hour of access are the two I flag for your own check on the official site.

Best Time to Visit Park Guell Barcelona

The best time to visit Park Guell Barcelona depends on what you want from the visit, and the official Park Guell opening hours do not name a quietest hour. What they do show is that the 9:30 am band is the first one sold to tourists, so that is the slot I would try for if you want the terraces before the day builds up. Reviewers of the guided tours called the park very crowded, which fits a site that admits up to 1,400 people per hour.

Light is the other factor, and Open-Meteo’s weather archive for 2025 gives a rough guide. Sunset at the park’s coordinates fell at 17:22 in December and 21:26 in June, and daily sunshine averaged about 6.3 hours in December against 12.6 in July. Rainy days were counted at 14 in December, 4 in November and 13 in July. These are one year of data, not a forecast, so use them to choose between a short winter afternoon and a long summer evening. In summer I would pick the first slot to avoid the heat, since the official site advises bringing water and sun protection.

How to Get to Park Güell

The official site’s easiest route is the Bus Güell shuttle, which is included in your ticket and runs from Alfons X metro station on line L4; it takes 15 minutes and the ticket also covers the return. The shuttle stop is about 1.1 km from the park in a straight line per Google Maps, or roughly 18 minutes on foot by my estimate (straight line times 1.3 at 4.8 km/h), but the bus saves the climb.

On foot, the official site gives the walk from Lesseps on line L3 as 20 minutes and recommends the Avinguda del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya entrance, which has an escalator. Vallcarca on the same line is also given as 20 minutes, but the site advises against it while the mechanical stairs at Baixada de la Glòria are out of service. Buses H6 and D40 stop at Travessera de Dalt, 10 minutes away, and the Bus Turístic and Barcelona City Tour both stop at Park Güell, about 10 minutes from the Carretera del Carmel entrance. There is a taxi stand on Carretera del Carmel. Driving is discouraged because most spaces nearby are reserved for residents.

Entrances and Meeting Points

The park has several entrances and the tour operators use two of them. Whatever the Park Güell opening hours, the official FAQ recommends Carretera del Carmel 23, where the coach park is, Carrer de Larrard from the Carrer d’Olot side, and the Avinguda del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya entrance with its escalator. The Porter’s Lodge is at the Carrer d’Olot entrance, per the official maps page.

If you book a guided tour, read the meeting point twice. Golden Tour Guide, Crown Tours and City Wonders all meet at Carretera del Carmel 23. City Wonders warns not to use the Carrer d’Olot gate, and taxi riders are told to give the street address rather than the park name.

What to Know Before You Go

Several rules come from the official access regulations. Tickets are named, personal and non-transferable, and the name must match your national identity document, which may be checked at the entrances. Children under 14 are not admitted without a responsible adult. Pets are allowed on a lead, except in Nature Square, the Hipostyle Room, the Dragon Stairway, the Austria Gardens and the Laundry Room Portico.

Other rules: no picnics outside the designated areas, no climbing on heritage features, no undressing or lying on benches in the restricted area, and no cycling. Only qualified guides may lead tours, and megaphones and speakers are banned. The official regulations give an average visit of about one hour, and I would allow longer if you want the viewpoints. The park has public toilets at three places, drinking-water fountains along the route, a restaurant and a shop. The official site also notes that the Casa del Guarda has limited capacity, so a ticket does not guarantee that you can go in.

My main advice is to check the Park Güell opening hours, book, and plan around the slot. When you are ready, my page on every Park Güell ticket I compared shows the prices, the languages and what each one includes.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Park Güell opening hours?

The official ticket page lists ticket time bands from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. It reserves 7 am to 9:30 am and 6 pm to 10 pm for neighbours and Passi Verd bookings, and tourist visits are not allowed then. Opening and closing times are seasonal and load dynamically on the official page, so check it for your date.

Is Park Güell open every day?

The official site says the park is open all year round. It also warns that some spaces may be under construction or restoration because of conservation and maintenance work, and it keeps a page of current disruptions. I would check that page before booking if one particular area matters to you.

How long do I have to enter after the time on my ticket?

The official site gives you 30 minutes after the time printed on your ticket. Its example: with a 9:30 reservation you can enter until 10:00, and after that you lose your right to enter. Once inside you can stay as long as you like, but you cannot re-enter after you leave.

When is the best time to visit Park Güell?

The official pages do not name a quietest hour, so I can only say what the rules show: the first time band of the day is 9:30 am, and the park caps entry per half hour. Reviewers of the guided tours called it very crowded. I'd book the earliest slot available and avoid arriving at the last minute.

Are there toilets in Park Güell?

Yes. The official maps and services page lists public toilets on Carretera del Carmel at the entrance gate, on Passeig de les Palmeres next to Plaça de la Natura, and next to the Carrer d'Olot entrance. It also lists drinking fountains, a picnic area, a restaurant and a shop.

What is the best way to get to Park Güell?

The official site says the Bus Güell shuttle from Alfons X metro station on line L4 takes 15 minutes and is included in your ticket. Lesseps and Vallcarca on line L3 are each a 20-minute walk, and the official site advises against Vallcarca while the escalators at Baixada de la Glòria are out of service.
