The Shard tickets start at $36 for the plain entry to The View from The Shard, which is also the most reviewed option at 4.5 stars from 10,389 reviews. A champagne version costs $49, and four walking tours that include the viewing gallery run from $76 to $113. The official site, theviewfromtheshard.com, sells tickets too, but I could not read its prices. Of all the Shard tickets, I’d book the $36 entry for a first visit.
I compared all six tickets for The Shard you can book on GetYourGuide today. Two are plain entry tickets to the viewing floors, and four bundle the entry with a walk, a guide or an audio app. Prices are in US dollars and come from the listings, checked in November 2026. The links that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links (more on that on my about page).

The areas do not change between the tickets. A ticket for The Shard gets you onto the same viewing floors, whichever way you book it, so the real choice is what you pay for around the visit: a drink, a guide, or an afternoon of other sights. The main difference between tickets is what surrounds the viewing floors, so I take each in turn below.
The Shard Entry Tickets
The View from The Shard is the official name of the visit, and the plain entry ticket is the one most people mean when they search for Shard entry tickets. It is the cheapest of the Shard tickets, listed under the operator The View from The Shard, costs $36, and the listing’s only inclusion is the ticket itself. The souvenir photograph is an extra you pay for at the venue.

“I really enjoyed the day excellent views very clean my only complaint was there was no prices on some of the items for sale in the shop” – GetYourGuide review
Per the official site, a ticket includes levels 68 and 69, the viewing platforms with the Champagne bar, and level 72, the open-air sky deck. It also includes a digital photo package, while the GetYourGuide listing says a printed souvenir photo costs extra, so I’d check which one you are getting at the desk.
Reviewers of this Shard ticket are warm. One wrote that it is easily one of the greatest views in the world and that they never felt rushed. Another noted a small gripe about prices missing on some shop items, which is a minor point, not a reason to skip it.
“Easily one of the greatest views in the world, worth the entry fee, you didn't feel rushed or pressured.”

The Shard Tickets and Prices
The Shard tickets and prices on GetYourGuide run from $36 to $113, and the spread comes almost entirely from what is added to the visit. The plain Shard ticket is $36, the entry with champagne is $49, and the walking tours with entry cost $76 to $113 per person. Every price is per person, and the cancellation rule is the same on all six: free up to 24 hours before.

Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
Among the Shard tickets, the champagne version is the one I’d treat as an upgrade, not a different ticket. It includes the same entry plus a glass of champagne, and the listing says other drinks are also available. It has only 240 reviews, against 10,389 for the plain ticket, but the rating is the same 4.5.

One reviewer of the champagne ticket had a lovely sunny day for a birthday, while another said the views and coffee were amazing but the number of seats could be improved. If you plan to sit with a drink, go early in the slot and expect to stand part of the time. The official site names a Champagne bar on the viewing levels, so you can also buy a drink up there on the plain ticket.
The Shard Tour
A Shard tour on GetYourGuide is a walking tour with entry added, not a guided visit inside the building. I found no guide-led tour of the viewing floors themselves, and the guided listings below all meet away from the tower. The one I’d look at first for a full day is the Top 30 Sights Walking Tour, which includes the Shard entry ticket and ends at the tower.

“Benedikt our guide was wonderful. He was funny and informative at the same time. Thanks for the great experience Ben” – GetYourGuide review
The route starts at the Ritz Hotel and passes Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Horse Guards Parade, 10 Downing Street, Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Borough Market and London Bridge before reaching The Shard. It is in English, small in review count, and the cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. Reviewers name the guides and praise their humour and detail. One said they had hoped to go to Westminster Abbey inside, so treat the stops as views from outside unless the listing says otherwise.
There are three more tours that include entry. I compare them under their own headings below, so each appears only once on this page. A tour costs roughly two to three times the plain Shard ticket, and I’d only pay that if you wanted the walk anyway.
The Shard Booking
Booking tickets for The Shard is straightforward: pick one of the Shard tickets, pick a date, and confirm. The Shard Viewing Gallery and Westminster Walking Tour is the booking I’d choose if you wanted a shorter walk than the 7-hour one. It is 5 hours, with the entrance ticket for the viewing gallery, a 3-hour Westminster walk, a small group and a local guide.

“Amanda hat uns auf dem Rundgang sehr viel und sehr gut erklärt. The Shard war einfach umwerfend.” – GetYourGuide review
The rating is a perfect 5.0, but it rests on four reviews, so I would not read much into it. Reviews I saw praise the guide’s explanations and clear voice in crowds, and one mentions the guide was ready with a plan for a rain shower. The meeting point is outside the Ritz on Piccadilly, near Green Park station.
For any booking, the listings give free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and the two entry tickets show a one-day validity. If you want a specific hour, check the date and time at checkout, because the listings I read do not state fixed time slots.
How Much Did The Shard Cost to Build and What Does a Ticket Cost
The Shard cost £435 million to build, according to Wikipedia, which notes that this figure is the contract cost only. Visiting it costs far less: $36 for the plain entry, up to $113 for a day with a guide. The ticket I’d link to the cost question is the audio walk, because it is the cheapest of the tours and it takes up the least time.
The Shard Ticket and Audio City Walk is a $76 listing from WeGoTrip. It includes the entrance ticket and a downloadable multimedia tour through London on the WeGoTrip app or web browser, with a GPS route from stop to stop. It does not include a personal guide, headphones or an audio tour inside The Shard. It is a leftover in my ranking, because it has no rating or reviews yet, and I’d choose it only if you like self-guided audio walks.

The listing says to show your smartphone ticket at the access-with-ticket entrance. Since it has no reviews, I can only say what the page promises, and I would rather pay $36 for the plain entry and add a free map for the walk.
The Shard Tickets Discount
I found no discount code for The Shard tickets in my data, and the cheapest of the Shard tickets is the $36 entry. A discount on The Shard usually means choosing the right ticket, and the one that looks like a discount here is not. The Magic of Harry Potter Tour with The Shard Viewpoint costs $91, which is the middle of the tour range, and it is the weakest fit for Shard visitors.

“Hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Unser Guide Oliver war sehr nett und übelst lustig! Danke für ALLES 😘” – GetYourGuide review
The listing mentions a discount code, HP394, but it is for two Potter shops on the route, not for the Shard. The tour starts at King’s Cross, visits Cecil Court, Leicester Square and Borough Market, and ends at the tower. The listing also says two Tube journeys, about £6, are not included. Reviewers write in German that the guide was funny and knowledgeable, but there are only four reviews, so the 3.9 is a thin signal for these Shard tickets.
The practical way to save money on the Shard tickets is to book the plain entry, skip the extras and rely on the 24-hour cancellation if the weather turns. A clear day is worth more than any code.
Is The Shard View Worth It
The Shard view is worth it if you want London from the highest public vantage point, and less so if you only want a free view. It is the tallest building in the UK at 309.6 m per Wikipedia, and the observatory occupies floors 68 to 72, with the deck at about 244 m. For comparison, the Sky Garden sits on a much shorter building and is free to enter when booked on its own site.
I wrote a full comparison in Sky Garden tickets. The short version: the Sky Garden is a public garden with bars, free if you book a slot ahead, while the Shard is a paid viewing gallery with an open-air deck on level 72. If you can pick only one, the free Sky Garden is the better value, and the Shard is the better view. If you can do both, I’d do the Shard on a clear day and the Sky Garden on another.
Reviewers who bought the cheapest of the Shard tickets say they spent a couple of hours up there without feeling hurried. Combined with $36 for entry, I think that is a fair price for a view that looks over the Thames, Tower Bridge and the City. Is the Shard worth going to when the cloud is low? I’d not go up on a grey day. The Open-Meteo data for 2025 shows only 3.5 sunshine hours a day in December and January, against 12.9 in June, so winter visitors should book a flexible ticket and pick the clearest slot (Open-Meteo).
The Shard Tickets Online
Booking the Shard tickets online is the normal route: all six options here are bookable on GetYourGuide with free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and the official site sells its own tickets. Because the official price for the Shard tickets was not readable for me, I cannot say whether GetYourGuide is cheaper or dearer, so open both and compare for your date.
Online tickets for The Shard are digital. The audio walk says to show your smartphone ticket at the access-with-ticket entrance, and the entry tickets send you to the entrance on Joiner Street. I’d screenshot the Shard ticket before you go, in case the signal in the station area is poor.
The Shard at Night
The Shard at night is a different visit, and nothing in my product data is sold as a night ticket. The official page showed hours of 10:00 to 22:00 when I read it, with last entry one hour before the advertised closing time and the bars closing about 30 minutes before. Opening times vary, so use the official opening times calendar.
Sunset decides how a night slot feels. Open-Meteo’s 2025 data puts sunset in London at 16:11 in November and 21:19 in June, so in winter the city is lit by late afternoon and a 5 pm slot is already dark. In summer you would book after 9 pm for the same effect. I’d choose the last slot before sunset to see both. There is no price difference between day and night on the tickets for The Shard I compared, which price one ticket for the day.
Opening Hours and Getting There
The official page showed 10:00 to 22:00 with last entry one hour earlier, and the nearest station is London Bridge, about a 2-minute walk by my estimate. I wrote out the hours, the best time to go and the routes in the Shard opening hours and visitor guide.

The Shard has no separate tour, night or skip-the-line pages on this site, because the search results for those ideas overlap with the main ticket search. Everything about the Shard tickets is on this page and in the visitor guide.
Near The Shard
The Shard stands beside London Bridge, so most of the central sights are a walk or one Tube stop away. Distances below are the straight line from the tower times 1.3 at 4.8 km/h, so treat them as estimates. Google Maps coordinates for the tower are not in my data, so I used its Wikipedia position.
The Tower of London is about 0.8 km away, near a 14-minute walk, and Tower Bridge is a similar 13 minutes. The Sky Garden is also around 13 minutes on foot. London Wall is about 15 minutes, and St Paul’s Cathedral about 21 minutes. The London Eye is across the river at about 2.3 km, or 37 minutes, so I’d take the Tube for that one.
Here is how I’d pick among the Shard tickets, by visitor type, and which ones I would skip.
Cheapest and most reviewed: the $36 plain entry, 4.5 stars from 10,389 reviews.
A celebration: the $49 champagne ticket, the same entry with a glass added.
With a guide for a full day: the $113 Top 30 Sights walk, if you want the sights and the view in one booking.
A shorter guided day: the $100 Westminster walk with viewing gallery entry, though it has only four reviews.
Self-guided: the $76 audio walk, which has no rating yet.
Free alternative: the Sky Garden, booked on its official site, if the price matters more than the height.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to go up to the top of The Shard?+
The plain entry ticket I compared on GetYourGuide costs $36, and the same entry with a glass of champagne costs $49. The four tours that include The Shard are $76 to $113 because they add a walk through London. The official site sells tickets too, but the pages I could read do not publish a price, so check it before you compare.
Is The Shard free?+
No. Going up The View from The Shard needs a paid ticket, and I found no free entry route on the official pages I could read. If you want a free high view of London, the Sky Garden costs nothing when you book a slot on its own site, and I explain the trade-off in the Sky Garden comparison further down.
What is on the top floor of The Shard?+
Per the official site, a ticket includes levels 68 and 69, the viewing platforms with the Champagne bar, and level 72, the open-air sky deck. Wikipedia places the observation deck at about 244 m. The official page also says a digital photo package is part of the ticket, while the GetYourGuide listings say a printed souvenir photo costs extra.
Is it worth going up The Shard at night?+
It can be, because the viewing floors stay open into the evening, and the official page showed 10:00 to 22:00 when I read it. Sunset in London comes at about 16:11 in November and 21:19 in June, per Open-Meteo, so in winter an evening slot is an early-evening one. Reviewers praise the skyline, and I'd choose a clear day over a specific hour.
Why is The Shard so special?+
Wikipedia lists it as the tallest building in the United Kingdom and in Western Europe, at 309.6 m with 95 storeys, designed by Renzo Piano's workshop. The View from The Shard opened to the public on 1 February 2013. For a visitor, the draw is a glass-fronted viewing gallery and an open-air deck on the 72nd floor.
Can you get a discount on The Shard tickets?+
I found no discount code or sale for the Shard entry tickets in my data. The cheapest option is the $36 entry ticket, and a 24-hour free-cancellation policy lets you rebook if plans change. The Harry Potter walking tour lists a discount code, but it applies to two Potter shops, not to the Shard entry.
Is The Shard better than the Sky Garden?+
On height the Shard wins: it is 309.6 m per Wikipedia, and the Sky Garden sits on top of a much shorter building. In price, the Sky Garden wins, because its public entry is free when you book a slot on its official site. I'd pick the Shard for the higher, wider view and the open-air deck, and the Sky Garden when cost matters.
How long does a visit to The Shard take?+
Reviewers on the main ticket describe spending a couple of hours on the platforms and not feeling rushed. The official site says last entry is one hour before the advertised closing time. The tours that include The Shard run from 2 hours for the audio walk to 7 hours for the Top 30 Sights tour.
