The Château de Chantilly opening hours are 10 am to 5 pm for the château, 10 am to 6 pm for the grounds and noon to 5 pm for the Great Stables, closed on Tuesdays, per the official site. This guide covers the Château de Chantilly opening hours by day, the January closure, the best time to go, how to get there from Paris and what to know at the gate. When you are ready to book, my comparison of Château de Chantilly tickets sets the official ticket beside the options on GetYourGuide.

Château de Chantilly Opening Hours

Today, Saturday 7 November 2026, the château is open and Google Maps shows 10 am to 5 pm. Tuesday is the one day it is closed:

Day Hours per Google Maps
Monday 10 am to 5 pm
Tuesday Closed
Wednesday 10 am to 5 pm
Thursday 10 am to 5 pm
Friday 10 am to 5 pm
Saturday 10 am to 5 pm
Sunday 10 am to 5 pm

The official hours page agrees: the château 10 am to 5 pm, the grounds 10 am to 6 pm, the Great Stables noon to 5 pm, weekly closing on Tuesday and an annual closure from 4 to 22 January inclusive. That page gives one set of hours and no seasonal changes, and it does not state a last entry time, so I would not plan to arrive in the last hour of the Château de Chantilly opening hours. The official home page also notes that the château welcomes visitors every day, public holidays included, except Tuesdays.

Chateau De Chantilly Hours and Horaires

For Château de Chantilly opening hours in French, search horaires d’ouverture. The official French pages carry the same schedule. If you plan around the Great Stables, note that they open two hours after the château, at noon. A sensible order is the château in the morning, a lunch break in the grounds, then the stables in the afternoon. The grounds stay open an hour longer than the château, which gives you time for a garden walk after the museum has shut.

Château de Chantilly Location

Before you plan around the Château de Chantilly opening hours, check where it is. The château stands at Rue du Connétable, 60500 Chantilly, in the Oise department, per Google Maps. The official site says it is 40 km from Paris, and Wikipedia describes it as about 50 kilometres north-northeast of the capital. The official GPS coordinates are 49.193846, 2.485203, and the Google Maps pin sits at almost the same spot. If you arrive by car, the access page lists a paid car park (P1) near the château, 5 euros for a car or minibus of up to 9 people.

Chateau De Chantilly Cafe Hours

The official home page says the restaurant at the Hameau, the rustic village in the Anglo-Chinese garden, is closed for the winter season from 15 November 2026 to 12 March 2027 inclusive. I could not read separate opening hours for the other cafés, so I can’t give you times. Plan to bring a snack in winter, and look at the restaurants and shops page of the official site for what is open on your day.

Best Time to Visit Château de Chantilly

The Château de Chantilly opening hours are fixed all year, so the season is your real choice. The official site does not publish quiet days or opening hours beyond the Château de Chantilly opening hours above, so I won’t claim any. What the weather data adds is the season. Open-Meteo records for 2025 at the château show April to June and August as the sunniest months, with 11.1, 11.0, 12.9 and 11.3 hours of sunshine a day on average and 7 to 10 rainy days. In January the figure drops to 2.9 hours of sunshine with 16 rainy days, and November to 3.9 hours with 15 rainy days, per Open-Meteo. Since the grounds are a large part of the visit, I’d choose spring or late summer, and in winter I’d keep to the château and the stables.

Sunset matters in the cold months. In November the sun goes down at about 5:08 pm, so the grounds’ 6 pm closing is already dark. In December it is about 4:52 pm.

How to Get to Château de Chantilly

Match your train to the Château de Chantilly opening hours, since the château opens at 10 am. By train, the official access page says to take a main-line SNCF train from Gare du Nord to Chantilly-Gouvieux station, about 25 minutes, or RER line D, about 45 minutes. From the station the page gives about 25 minutes on foot, about 10 minutes by bus or about 5 minutes by taxi. A free bus and a shuttle leave from platform A1, and the tourist shuttle runs on weekends and French public holidays, departing at 10:07 am.

The same page describes a Pack TER + 1 day at 27 euros, which includes a round-trip TER valid for 72 hours and a one-day château ticket. It is worth comparing with buying the ticket and the train separately.

By car, the page says to take the A3 or A1 and exit at Chantilly, or use the D316 and D317. Nothing in my Google Maps data for this page lies near the château, so I can’t give you walking times to other sights. The central Paris landmarks in the data, such as the Eiffel Tower, are about 40 km away in a straight line. If you are also visiting the capital, see my guides to Palace of Versailles tickets and Eiffel Tower tickets.

What Is Open and What the Ticket Covers

The Château de Chantilly opening hours depend on which part of the estate you want, so it helps to know what each ticket opens. Per the official ticket page, the 1-day timed ticket covers the château with its temporary exhibitions, the grounds and the Great Stables with the equestrian demonstrations. The grounds ticket covers the grounds and three gardens only: the French formal garden by Le Nôtre, the Anglo-Chinese garden and the English garden. A separate timed ticket for the Reading Room costs 3 euros, and a combined 1-day ticket with the Reading Room is 21 euros.

Inside the château, Wikipedia says the Condé Museum is known for French paintings and manuscript illumination of the 1400s and 1500s, and that its library holds more than 1,500 manuscripts. The Great Stables house the Living Museum of the Horse. Because the stables open at noon and the château closes at 5 pm, the overlap is five hours, and that is the window I’d aim for if you want both on one ticket.

Choosing Your Day

With the Château de Chantilly opening hours in mind, pick your day. Tuesday is out, and so is the first three weeks of January, so a weekend or a Wednesday to Friday are the remaining choices. I found no official crowd data, so I can’t tell you which of those is quietest. What I can say from the opening times is that an early arrival gives the most time: the château opens at 10 am, and a train that leaves Gare du Nord around 8:30 am would put you at the station in time for the opening, allowing the walk or bus from the station. Check the live timetable on the SNCF or Île-de-France Mobilités site, because I have not read the current schedule.

What to Know Before You Go

The official hours and access pages I read did not state a bag policy, a dress code or an ID rule, and I won’t guess. The park listing on GetYourGuide says you should wear comfortable shoes, because reviewers warn that you walk a lot. One reviewer mentioned that the audio channels did not work for them.

Tickets: the official 1-day ticket for the château, grounds and Great Stables is 18 euros, and the grounds-only ticket is 9 euros, per the official ticket page. The park ticket on GetYourGuide does not include the château, so choose your ticket with that in mind.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Château de Chantilly opening hours?

The official hours page lists the château open 10 am to 5 pm, the grounds 10 am to 6 pm and the Great Stables noon to 5 pm. Google Maps shows 10 am to 5 pm every day except Tuesday. The official page gives one set of hours and no seasons, so check it for your date.

What day is the Château de Chantilly closed?

Tuesday is the weekly closing day, and the official hours page also lists an annual closure from 4 to 22 January, inclusive. The official home page says the château is open every day except Tuesdays, public holidays included. I found no other closure dates, so check before you travel.

What is the last entry at the Château de Chantilly?

I could not find a last entry time on the official hours page, which lists only opening and closing times. With the château closing at 5 pm, I would arrive well before 3 pm if you want to see the museum and the stables. The château's phone line can confirm it.

How long does it take to get from Paris to Chantilly?

The official access page says a main-line SNCF train from Gare du Nord to Chantilly-Gouvieux takes about 25 minutes, and RER line D about 45 minutes. Add about 25 minutes on foot, 10 minutes by bus or 5 minutes by taxi from the station to the château.

How long do you need at Château de Chantilly?

I'd allow a half day for the château and a full day if you want the grounds and the Great Stables too. The grounds close at 6 pm, an hour after the château, and the Great Stables only open from noon. The official 2-day ticket exists for visitors who want to spread it out.

Is there a restaurant at the Château de Chantilly in winter?

The official home page says the restaurant at the Hameau is closed for the winter season from 15 November 2026 to 12 March 2027 inclusive. It does not say what is open in the château itself, so I would check the restaurants and shops page of the official site before you rely on a meal.
