Magic Fountain tickets are not needed to watch the Montjuïc show, which the City of Barcelona describes without any entry fee. The two Magic Fountain tickets I could find on GetYourGuide are guided tours that include the show: a $65 tapas and Montjuïc walk with 18 reviews, and an $82 cable car and castle tour with 231 reviews at 4.5 stars. The fountain is also off for annual maintenance until 15 November 2026. I’d watch it free and book a tour only for the extras.

Barcelona Cable Car Sky Views, Magic Fountain & Castle Visit
I compared every Magic Fountain ticket GetYourGuide sells today, and there are only two, both guided tours by small operators. Neither one is an admission ticket, because the fountain has no gate. Prices are in US dollars from the listings, checked in November 2026, and both give a full refund up to 24 hours before the start. My GetYourGuide buttons are affiliate links, and my about page explains what that means.
Magic Fountain Tickets at a Glance
The short version of the Magic Fountain tickets question is that the show costs nothing and the tours cost between $65 and $82. This table sets out what each option gives you, and I left out anything I could not confirm.

None of these Magic Fountain tickets changes what the fountain does. The show is the same from the pavement as it is from a tour, so a tour is worth paying for only if you want the guide and the route to it.
Magic Fountain Tickets and Prices
Of the two Magic Fountain tickets on sale, this is the dearer one. If you want a Magic Fountain ticket with a price attached, the one that does most is the In Out Barcelona Tours cable car, castle and fountain walk at $82. It lasts 5.5 hours, is rated 4.5 from 231 reviews, and is the better-reviewed of the two. The listing includes a local guide, a walk through La Boqueria, La Rambla, Palau Güell and the Raval, the cable car and funicular tickets, entry to Montjuïc Castle and its dungeons, and a break with snacks and local wine or beer. Gratuities and other food and drink are not included.
There is a catch I’d read before booking. The listing itself says the fountain is “currently closed due to drought protocol” and tells you the fountains are switched off, while the City of Barcelona and Nacio Digital report that water returned on 24 September 2025. The listing text looks out of date, but I cannot confirm that, so message the operator about your date. The listing also says that from 1 November to 28 February the tour is rescheduled to 15:30 because of the castle and cable car hours, so ask whether you will actually see the fountain running, since the winter shows are in the evening.

Reviewers of this Magic Fountain ticket speak well of the guides and the pace, which suits a long day.

Skip-the-Line Magic Fountain Tickets
There is no line to skip, so skip-the-line Magic Fountain tickets do not exist in any form I could verify. The City of Barcelona page lists show times and a maintenance notice but no ticket office or timed entry. The nearest thing is a guided tour that walks you to the square and handles the logistics, and that is a service, not a queue skip.
The product in this slot is a leftover from the data, not a perfect match, and I’d say so plainly. It is the De La Rosa Experiences Montjuïc sightseeing tour with tapas and the Magic Fountain show at $65. It runs 3 hours, starts at La Tasca del Blai 12 in Poble-sec, and includes a guided tour of Montjuïc’s main sights, a tapas tasting with traditional drinks, a local guide and access to the show, “subject to its schedule and operation”. English and Spanish are offered. It is rated 4.5, but from only 18 reviews, so treat the score as promising, not proven.

“c'était une idée très originale beau concept bravo et surtout merci... je recommande à 100%” – GetYourGuide review
Reviews of this Magic Fountain ticket are mixed on value. One reviewer found the guide kind and informative but thought the price too high for two tapas skewers and one drink, adding that the fountain show can be watched without a ticket or a guide. Another said the description was unclear about whether it was a picnic or a tapas crawl. I’d read the listing carefully and keep the tour for a night when you want the company, not just the show.
Magic Fountain Barcelona Tickets
Searching for Magic Fountain Barcelona tickets mostly turns up two answers: a free show, and tours that bundle it. The fountain stands at the head of Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina below the Palau Nacional, according to Wikipedia, and the City of Barcelona gives the address as Plaça de Carles Buïgas 1. It was built for the 1929 International Exposition, with Carles Buïgas as designer, long before anyone sold Magic Fountain tickets for it.
So for Magic Fountain tickets, the buying decision is only about the extras. If you want a guided story of Montjuïc and a meal, the $65 tour is the shorter and cheaper way. If you want the castle views and the cable car, the $82 tour covers more ground. If you only want the water and the lights, you don’t buy anything at all, and my visitor guide has the times and the walk from the metro.
Magic Fountain Barcelona Price
The price of the fountain itself is nothing, and the official page shows no fee. What costs money is what surrounds it. In the data, the cheapest Magic Fountain tickets are $65 and the most expensive is $82, a gap of $17 for two and a half more hours plus the cable car, funicular and castle entry. The cost per hour works out to roughly $22 for the tapas tour and $15 for the long one, so the longer tour is the better value per hour if you like walking.
Both Magic Fountain tickets are priced per person as far as the listings show. For a family or group, the calculator below adds up the totals from the listed price per person, not from any group rate.
Calculator

–
from per person, before any child or group discount
Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
If you also want a cable car or tourist bus ticket without the tour, those are separate purchases with their own prices, which I did not compare. I have no data for them and won’t guess.
Is the Magic Fountain On Tonight
No Magic Fountain ticket will make the water run on a dark night. Today is Saturday 7 November 2026, and the answer is no: the City of Barcelona says the fountain is out of operation from 1 to 15 November for annual maintenance, with no displays in that period. The next scheduled show nights after that are Thursday 19, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November, at 8.00 pm and 8.30 pm according to the city’s 1 November to 31 March timetable.
Magic Fountain tickets would not help here either, because the fountain is not an every-night event. In winter it runs only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so a Sunday to Wednesday evening has no show. Google Maps lists Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday as closed and Thursday to Saturday as 9 to 10 pm, which differs from the city’s 8 pm window, and I trust the city. If you are in Barcelona on a fixed date, check the City of Barcelona show times page the same day, because the fountain can be switched off for maintenance or drought. My opening hours guide has the full table.
Is the Magic Fountain Worth It
Magic Fountain tickets or not, the evening is good value. I’d say yes when it is on, and the ratings agree: Google Maps shows 4.6 stars from 93,079 reviews. It is free, it lasts about an hour from start to finish, and the setting below the Palau Nacional is one of the postcard views of Barcelona. Wikipedia says the fountain sprays water through 3,620 jets and reaches a maximum height of 170 feet, which is about 52 metres.
The weather matters for an evening outdoors. In my Open-Meteo year, November had 4 rainy days and December 14, and March had 18, so the winter season can be wet. The sun sets around 17:31 in November, so the 8 pm show is well after dark. A jacket helps more than a ticket, and I would carry one from November to March.
Opening Hours and Getting There
Before you buy Magic Fountain tickets, look at the dates. Per the city, the winter schedule is Thursday to Saturday, with shows at 8.00 pm and 8.30 pm, and the fountain is off until 15 November 2026. The nearest metro stop is Espanya, on lines L1 and L3 per the City of Barcelona, about 0.46 km or 8 minutes on foot by my estimate. My Magic Fountain opening hours and visitor guide covers the full schedule and the walk.
Which Ticket Fits You
Tickets for the Magic Fountain come down to two tours. The two Magic Fountain tickets differ in what they add around the same show, so the choice depends on time, appetite and whether you want the castle.

Near the Magic Fountain
Magic Fountain tickets pair well with a day on Montjuïc, but the other sights are far. Distances run from the fountain’s pin on Google Maps and the walking times are my estimates: straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3, at 4.8 km per hour. The Espanya metro station is about 0.46 km away, Poble Sec about 0.83 km and Tarragona about 0.97 km, all short walks. The sights in my data are further out: the Christopher Columbus monument at the port is about 2.2 km, roughly 36 minutes on foot, Plaça de Catalunya 2.3 km, Barcelona Cathedral 2.5 km and Casa Batlló 2.5 km, so I’d take the metro or a taxi. Compare tickets for Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and the Picasso Museum on their own pages, and the Sagrada Familia, at about 4.1 km, on its own.

My short list of Magic Fountain tickets by visitor type:
Cheapest: watch the show free from the square. No Magic Fountain ticket is needed.
Evening out with food: the De La Rosa tapas and Montjuïc tour at $65, if the fountain is running on your date.
Views and history: the In Out Barcelona cable car and castle tour at $82, 5.5 hours, with the fountain at the end if the schedule works.
Families: skip Magic Fountain tickets and watch the show, because both tours involve long walks and tapas with drinks; the 5.5-hour tour is a long day for children.
A fixed night: check the city’s show times first, since the fountain runs only Thursday to Saturday in winter and is off until 15 November 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need tickets for the Magic Fountain?+
No. The City of Barcelona page for the fountain lists show times and a maintenance notice, and mentions no ticket or entry fee. A reviewer of one tour I compared wrote that the show can be watched without a ticket or a guide. What the GetYourGuide tours sell is a guide, food and other stops around the show.
Is Magic Fountain Barcelona free?+
As far as I could find, yes. The official city pages describe the show without any price, and I found no ticket desk at the fountain. The two paid tours I compared cost $65 and $82 and add a guide, tapas, and in one case the cable car and Montjuïc Castle. Check the official page before you go for schedule changes.
Why is the Magic Fountain closed?+
Right now it is closed for annual maintenance. The City of Barcelona says the fountain is out of operation from 1 to 15 November, with no shows in that period. It was also stopped for about three years because of drought and later renovation works, and water returned on 24 September 2025, per Nacio Digital.
Is the Magic Fountain in Barcelona open in 2026?+
Yes outside the maintenance stop. The city's schedule for 1 November to 31 March is Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with shows at 8.00 pm and 8.30 pm, and no shows from 1 to 15 November 2026. I did not find the April to October timetable on the city page, so check it before you plan a summer evening.
What time is the Magic Fountain light show in Barcelona?+
From 1 November to 31 March the City of Barcelona lists music and colour shows at 8.00 pm and 8.30 pm, in a window from 8.00 pm to 9.00 pm. Google Maps shows 9 to 10 pm on Thursday to Saturday, which differs, so I trust the city page and suggest you check it on the day.
Is Montjuic Magic Fountain worth it?+
I think it is, mostly because it costs nothing. Google Maps rates it 4.6 from 93,079 reviews, and it dates from the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, per Wikipedia. Pair it with the Montjuïc views and a dinner nearby and it is a good evening, as long as the fountain is running on your date.
Is there a fountain show in Barcelona?+
Yes, the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc below the Palau Nacional, at Plaça de Carles Buïgas 1. Wikipedia says it was designed by Carles Buïgas and first performed on 19 May 1929. In winter the City of Barcelona lists shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
