A Pantheon Rome tour is short, cheap compared with the big Roman sights, and it answers the one thing the building does not tell you: why a 2,000-year-old dome still holds its own. I compared the five Pantheon Rome tours that count as guided on GetYourGuide, from $21 to $41, and one of them is really an audio visit. If you only want to get in, my page on tickets for the Pantheon Rome lists the $8 options, and this page is for the ones with a person leading you.

What a Pantheon Rome Tour Adds Over a Plain Ticket

The Pantheon is a single space under one dome, so a ticket and a guide open the same room. What differs is what happens in it. On an $8 ticket you get an audio guide or an app and walk at your own pace. On a Pantheon Rome tour you get a person who points at things: the oculus, the coffered ceiling, the tomb of Raphael, and the way the pagan temple became a church. The tour listings also keep you in a group that moves through the entrance together.

What a tour does not add is a bigger building. Every ticket here covers the interior and nothing more, and the visit is the shortest of any Roman landmark I compare. The Pantheon is open 9:00 to 19:00 with a last entry at 18:30, per Turismo Roma, so the tours fit easily into a day.

Guided Pantheon Rome Tours With Entry Included

Two Pantheon Rome tours do exactly what the title says, and I would choose between them.

Crown Tours is the one I would book first, at $21. It has 4.8 stars from 5,685 reviews, the biggest sample on this page, and takes 45 minutes. It runs in seven languages: German, Italian, Chinese, Portuguese, French, English and Spanish. The route starts in Piazza della Minerva next to the elephant statue with a short history, looks at the columns and dome from outside, then goes in for the golden-starred ceiling and the tomb of Raphael. The listing has three meeting points depending on the option, so the confirmation matters.

“a very well coordinated and executed tour. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.” – GetYourGuide review

Reviewers praise the guides’ knowledge and enthusiasm, and one says the group could stay inside after the talk to take photos. I found no recurring complaint in the reviews I read.

Kirba Tours is the small-group alternative, at $29 for 50 minutes. It has the highest rating on this page, 4.9 from 1,378 reviews, and runs in English and Italian. The guide waits in Piazza Capranica 10 minutes before the start with a Kirba Tours sign or flag. Entry and an official guide are included, and a headset comes with groups of 6 or more. Reviewers mention Bluetooth headphones that cut out the noise of the crowd, a guide with an art history education who shared information on a tablet, and a tour that skipped a long line. One reviewer got a private tour because the others cancelled, which is luck rather than a promise.

Pantheon Rome Walking Tours With Other Sights

Two other tours are walks across the old centre that include the Pantheon among other stops.

EcoArt Travel costs $39 for 1 hour and covers Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps with a headset. The Pantheon ticket and the paid area of the Trevi Fountain are included only with the option selected, which is the main thing to check before booking. It has 4.7 stars from 436 reviews in English, Italian, Spanish and French. A reviewer liked how the guide kept their children engaged, and one found the pace too fast for the ground covered, a fair comment for four sights in one hour.

“Marcello was an excellent guide. He explained the history clearly and thoughtfully.” – GetYourGuide review

Hili srl runs a sunset walk for $41, 2 hours, in English, with the highest rating of the walks, 4.9 from 822 reviews. It starts in Piazza di San Simeone next to the fountain and runs through Piazza Navona, past the Pantheon, to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. The Pantheon is outside only here, and the listing lists Pantheon entry as not included. The reviewers talk about an archaeologist guide and about small groups of two, where there was room to ask questions. I would book this as a Rome evening walk and buy a separate Pantheon ticket, not as a Pantheon tour.

Audio Tours: A Pantheon Rome Tour Without a Guide

The fifth listing, from Eterna Elite Tour, is flagged as guided in my data, but its own page says a live guide and skip-the-line are not included. It costs $8 for a pre-booked entry ticket and a digital audio tour in 15 languages, 4.6 stars from 811 reviews. A host with a white flag meets you in Piazza Capranica and helps with the ticket. One reviewer got in within 15 minutes of the entrance time and found the queue took about 10 minutes.

“Pradip was our guide, very hospital and friendly guide. Navigated us to the lane and made sure we are passing it as smooth as possible.” – GetYourGuide review

Do Reviewers Agree on Pantheon Rome Tours?

On the guides, yes. The praise goes to knowledge, humour and patience, and the complaints are about pace and the numbers inside. The Pantheon is crowded all day, and a reviewer of the EcoArt tour mentions big crowds on the All Saints holiday weekend.

The guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Pantheon.

Small Group, Private or Standard Pantheon Rome Tours

The listings split less than you might hope. Only Kirba Tours says small group in its title, and the Hili walk calls itself a small-group walk in its description. Crown Tours does not state a group size, and neither does EcoArt Travel, so I cannot rank those two by crowd. I found no private Pantheon Rome tour among the five. If a private visit matters to you, ask the operator before booking, and expect a Pantheon Rome tour to be a group in a busy building either way.

Guided Tour or Ticket Only?

The cheapest Pantheon tickets are $8. The Crown Tours visit costs $21, which makes the guide worth $13 more, and the Kirba Tours small group at $29 costs $21 more. For that money you get a person who explains the building, a group that enters together and, in Kirba’s case, a small group. If you want the building at your own pace, the $8 audio ticket is fine. The site’s own Pantheon page, pantheonroma.com, is where I would check the official entry rules, since I could not read a price there.

How I’d Choose a Pantheon Rome Tour

Check the hours in my Pantheon Rome opening hours guide, and use the Pantheon Rome map and the Pantheon Rome history page to prepare. When you are ready, the full list of Pantheon Rome tickets is the place to book, and the home page lists the other attractions I compare.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Pantheon Rome tour worth it?

I think so, because the building is one round room and the story is what makes it interesting. The Crown Tours visit is $21 with entry included and has 4.8 stars from 5,685 reviews, and a plain audio-guide ticket is $8. A reviewer of the Crown tour said the guide helped them understand why the Pantheon is so revered.

How long is a Pantheon Rome tour?

Short. Crown Tours takes 45 minutes and Kirba Tours 50 minutes, both with entry included. The EcoArt Travel walk is 1 hour and covers Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps as well. The Hili sunset walk is 2 hours and only passes the Pantheon from outside.

Does a Pantheon Rome tour include the entry ticket?

Crown Tours and Kirba Tours do. EcoArt Travel includes Pantheon access only with the option selected, and the Hili sunset walk lists the Pantheon entry as not included and says you see the building from outside. Check the included list for the option you pick.

Is there a live guide on the cheap Pantheon tickets?

No. The $8 tickets are entry with an audio guide or app. The Eterna Elite Tour listing, for example, lists a live guide and skip-the-line as not included, even though its host helps with the line. For a live guide you need one of the tours on this page.

Where do the Pantheon Rome tours meet?

Away from the doors. Crown Tours has three meeting points depending on the option, one in Piazza della Minerva by the elephant statue. Kirba Tours meets in Piazza Capranica 10 minutes before the start. The Hili sunset walk meets in Piazza di San Simeone, next to the fountain.

What time should I book a Pantheon Rome tour?

The Pantheon is open 9 am to 7 pm according to Google Maps, and Turismo Roma gives a last entry of 18:30. With tours of 45 to 50 minutes, a start by about 5:30 pm fits. The hours can change during religious services, so check the official site.
