The Picasso Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm and closed on Mondays, and Google Maps shows the same hours for today, Saturday 7 November 2026. The ticket office shuts 30 minutes before the museum, per the official site. This guide covers the Picasso Museum opening hours, the closing days, the free times, the price, how to get there and what to know before you go. To book a guide or a walk, my comparison of Picasso Museum tickets lists all nine options with prices.

Picasso Museum Opening Hours

Today’s Picasso Museum opening hours per Google Maps are 10 am to 7 pm. The week looks like this:

Day Hours per Google Maps
Monday Closed
Tuesday 10 am to 7 pm
Wednesday 10 am to 7 pm
Thursday 10 am to 7 pm
Friday 10 am to 7 pm
Saturday 10 am to 7 pm
Sunday 10 am to 7 pm

The official Picasso Museum opening hours agree with that, and the site adds the exceptions. The opening hours and prices page says the museum is closed every Monday of the year and on 1 January, 1 May, 24 June and 25 December. On 24 and 31 December it opens from 10 am to 2 pm. The Picasso Museum opening hours also set the ticket office, which closes 30 minutes before the museum, and it gives no separate last-entry time, so for a normal day I’d treat 6:30 pm as the latest to buy and be inside well before then.

Picasso Museum Hours Barcelona

The Picasso Museum opening hours in Barcelona have one wrinkle that catches visitors out: Monday. Many museums in the city choose a different closing day, but the Museu Picasso is shut every Monday of the year, so a Monday in the old town needs a different plan. The Cathedral of Barcelona, about 7 minutes away on foot by my estimate, is listed on Google Maps as open on Mondays from 9:30 am to 5:45 pm, though that listing may show visiting hours that change, so check before you go, as I did with the Picasso Museum opening hours.

If you hold a guided-tour booking, the hours that matter are the tour’s start time, not the museum’s. The ICONO Barcelona listing, for instance, meets at Palau Dalmases on the same street and enters only with the guide. The Picasso Museum opening hours do not apply to a tour voucher, which has a fixed meeting time, so read the confirmation email for the meeting time and place.

Picasso Museum Times and Free Slots

Picasso Museum times for free entry are separate from the regular Picasso Museum opening hours. The official ticket page lists free admission, with a prior reservation, on the first Sunday of each month, on Thursdays from 4 to 7 pm, and on the Open Door days of 12 February, 17 May (International Museum Day) and 24 September. Reservations open at 10 am four days before the visit. The page notes that the museum has limited capacity, so I would reserve on the day they open rather than the week of your trip.

Some visitors always enter free with accreditation: under-18s, holders of the free Pink Card, professional tourist guides, people with a disability accreditation card and a companion, accredited journalists and active teachers with the Generalitat card, among others. Visitors under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. The page mentions no free Sunday afternoons beyond the first Sunday of the month.

Picasso Museum Price

The Picasso Museum price is 12 euros for the collection online and 13 euros at the ticket office, per the same page, and 7 euros reduced. Reduced entry needs accreditation: ages 18 to 25, over-65s, unemployed people, accredited university students and holders of the Barcelona Libraries Card. Bicing card holders get 25 percent off. The Articket BCN is 38 euros for one admission to six museums, valid for 12 months.

A guided visit is 6 euros on top of admission, per the guided tours page, and it needs a prior reservation. The tours run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in English, French, Spanish and Catalan depending on the day, and meet at the Palau del Baró de Castellet. The page warns that if you do not arrive 10 minutes beforehand, your place will be lost. Compare that with the GetYourGuide tours at $40 to $59, which add their own guide, walk or second museum.

Best Time to Visit Picasso Museum Barcelona

Within the Picasso Museum opening hours I can’t give a sourced quiet hour, because the official pages I read say nothing about crowds. What I can say from the data is limited. The museum opens at 10 am, and the free Thursday evening slot from 4 to 7 pm and the first Sunday are the times people have a reason to come for free, so I’d expect those to be busier. That is a guess rather than a sourced fact. The guided tours I compared start at fixed times, so booking one removes the guesswork about timing.

Weather is the other factor in the old town. Open-Meteo data for Barcelona in 2025 shows November with about 8.1 hours of sunshine a day and 4 rainy days, against 14 rainy days in December, which is useful if you plan a walk to the museum and not just the galleries. Source: Open-Meteo. The museum is indoors, so rain changes the walk but not the visit.

How to Get to the Picasso Museum

The Museu Picasso is at Carrer de Montcada 15-23 in the La Ribera quarter, and the museum’s getting here page names two metro stations: Jaume I on line L4 and Arc de Triomf on line L1. By my estimate, with a straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 at 4.8 km/h, Jaume I is about 4 minutes on foot and Arc de Triomf about 12. Liceu is about 13 minutes and Urquinaona about 13. TMB runs the metro, and its site is at tmb.cat.

The page also lists buses along Via Laietana (120, 45, V15, V17), Passeig Picasso (39, 51, H14), Pla de Palau (H14, 45, 51) and Princesa (120), plus Bicing stations and the Estació de França and Sants rail stations. The museum has no car park of its own, and the page names car parks on Carrer Princesa, Passeig del Born, Plaça de la Catedral, Avinguda Cambó and Via Laietana. From the Plaça de Catalunya it is about 15 minutes on foot by my estimate.

Is the Picasso Museum Worth It

I think the Picasso Museum is worth it if you want to see the early work, since the collection ticket is 12 euros online per the official site, and it is the cheapest of the big Barcelona art stops. Google Maps rates it 4.4 from 40,776 reviews, and the skip-the-line guided tour at $41 holds 4.6 from 3,976 reviews. The visit fits a morning, and the free Thursday slot from 4 to 7 pm is the way to test whether it suits you before paying. The Picasso Museum opening hours (Tuesday to Sunday) decide how much of the day you can fit around it. I could not confirm a visit length on the official pages.

What to Know Before You Go

The official pages I read did not state the bag, photography or cloakroom rules, so I won’t guess them. For questions about the Picasso Museum opening hours on a given date, the phone number on Google Maps is 932 56 30 00, and the official getting-here page gives an email address, museupicasso@bcn.cat. Check the site’s regulations page before you carry a large bag. The GetYourGuide listing from Tours For Today says pets and large luggage are not permitted, which is that operator’s rule, not necessarily the museum’s.

For time, the official pages give no visit length. The guided listings I compared run from 1 hour for a walk to 3 hours with the Moco Museum, and I’d allow about 1.5 to 2 hours for the museum on your own, which is an estimate. The permanent collection holds 4,251 works, per Wikipedia, so you won’t see everything on a short visit. Plan your day with my Barcelona ticket guides, and when you’re ready to book, compare the Picasso Museum tickets I reviewed.

Keep the Picasso Museum opening hours in mind when you plan the rest of the day. After the visit, Casa Batlló is about 25 minutes away on foot by my estimate, and my Casa Batlló opening hours and visitor guide covers its day.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Picasso Museum opening hours?

The official site gives Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm, and Google Maps shows the same. The museum is closed every Monday. On 24 and 31 December it opens from 10 am to 2 pm only, so I'd check the site for any other holiday change.

What time is the last entry at the Picasso Museum?

The official ticket page says the ticket office closes 30 minutes before the museum, which makes 6:30 pm on a normal day by simple subtraction. It gives no separate last-entry time for visitors who already hold a ticket, so I'd arrive well before 6 pm.

Is the Picasso Museum closed on any days?

Yes. Per the official site it is closed every Monday and on 1 January, 1 May, 24 June and 25 December. It opens only 10 am to 2 pm on 24 and 31 December. Free reservations on Thursdays and the first Sunday of the month are separate from these closing days.

Is the Picasso Museum free on Sundays?

Only on the first Sunday of each month, per the official site, and you must reserve in advance, from 10 am four days before. It lists no free Sunday afternoons otherwise. Free times also include Thursdays from 4 to 7 pm and the Open Door days of 12 February, 17 May and 24 September.

How much does the Picasso Museum cost?

The collection ticket is 12 euros online and 13 at the ticket office, with a 7 euro reduced price that needs accreditation. Under-18s are free. A guided visit adds 6 euros, and a private guided visit costs 150 to 200 euros per group before admission.

How do I get to the Picasso Museum?

The museum's own page names Jaume I on line L4 and Arc de Triomf on line L1, plus several bus routes along Via Laietana and Passeig Picasso. It has no car park of its own. From Jaume I I estimate about 4 minutes on foot.
