The cheapest catacombs of Rome tickets on GetYourGuide are $16 for a guided entry to San Callisto, San Sebastiano, Priscilla or Domitilla. The most-reviewed is San Callisto at 4.6 stars from 3,781 reviews. The catacombs sell their own tickets too, at 10 euros for adults per their official sites. I’d book San Callisto, then add San Sebastiano if you have the morning.

Catacombs of St. Callixtus Entry Ticket & Guided Tour
I compared all 9 catacombs of Rome tickets and tours I could find on GetYourGuide. Rome has no single “Catacombs of Rome” attraction: it has several separate underground cemeteries, each with its own entrance, guides and closing day, so each of these tickets opens exactly one of them. The set covers San Callisto, San Sebastiano, Domitilla, Priscilla and the Saints Marcellino and Pietro catacombs. Prices are in US dollars and come from the listings, checked in November 2026. The buttons that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links, which I explain on my about page.

The big difference between catacombs of Rome tickets is which catacomb you enter, because they are different places up to 8 km apart. Three of them (San Callisto, San Sebastiano and Domitilla) are within about 1 km of each other near the Appian Way, while Priscilla is north of the centre on Via Salaria. Rome’s catacombs were dug from the 2nd century AD, according to Wikipedia, and Roman law kept burials outside the city, which is why they all lie on the edges of the city.
Catacombs of Rome Tickets and Prices
Catacombs of Rome tickets and prices are simple at San Sebastiano: the Opera Romana listing costs $16 for the entry ticket and a guided tour in your chosen language. It lasts 40 minutes, scores 4.5 from 739 reviews, and runs in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. You can cancel up to 24 hours before for a full refund. The listing tells you to go straight to the catacomb’s ticket office and show your reservation at least 10 minutes before the tour, at Via Appia Antica 136.
The official San Sebastiano site sells the same visit directly: 10 euros for adults and 7 euros for ages 7 to 16 at the door, a free online reservation with payment on site, or a 12 euro online guided ticket. It states that the last English tour leaves at 16:45 and that the catacombs are closed on Mondays. So the $16 catacombs of Rome ticket is a booking convenience with free cancellation, not a way of paying less. Reviewers of this ticket like that the group stays small, and one mentions the preserved pagan tombs as a highlight.

“Well worth seeing. Reasonably priced. Only a short walk from the more visited San Calisto catacombs and definitely worth doing also when you are in the area. The preserved pagan tombs were a real highlight for me on the Rome trip.” – GetYourGuide review
Skip-the-line catacombs of rome tickets work differently from the Colosseum, because there is no security queue to skip: you have a reserved guided slot and arrive 10 minutes early. The Priscilla ticket at $16 is the highest-rated of the Opera Romana set at 4.7 from 540 reviews. It lasts 45 minutes and runs in Italian, English and Spanish. The meeting point is the catacomb’s own ticket office at Via Salaria 430.
Of all the catacombs of Rome tickets, Priscilla is the one for early Christian art. A reviewer called the artwork unique and said it is a must-see for anyone interested in Christian art or history. The official Priscilla site says the catacombs can only be visited with a staff member, that a visit takes about 45 minutes and that groups are capped at 25 people. It is closed on Mondays.

Catacombs of Rome Tour
A catacombs of Rome tour is the right choice when you want San Callisto, the best known of the catacombs of Rome tickets here. The Opera Romana listing costs $16 and includes the entry ticket and a guided tour. It lasts 30 minutes, scores 4.6 from 3,781 reviews (the most reviewed in my set) and runs in Italian, German and French. English is not among its listed languages, so check the language options when you book. I compare every guided visit on my Catacombs of Rome tours page.
One reviewer described their guide as a priest himself, which fits the site: San Callisto’s own site says the Salesians of Don Bosco have run the guided visits since 1930, and states that online booking is required. The address is Via Appia Antica 110/126. The listing’s meeting-point text gives the route from Metro B (Colosseo or Circo Massimo) with bus 118 to the stop Catacombe di San Callisto.

“Martin Pacifique (Fr) was a wonderful guide, being very knowledgeable and a priest himself. Definitely recommend, although if you're looking to see piles of bones go for another destination like Capucin chapel” – GetYourGuide review
The second card in this section is a leftover, not the best match for the head term, and I’d treat it as a special occasion rather than a plain tour of the catacombs. The Rome Eternal Walks golf cart tour costs $106 and lasts 1 hour. It collects you at Via del Cardello 31 near the Colosseum, drives you to San Callisto by electric golf cart with a driver-guide, and then the official catacomb guide takes you through the tunnels. Only English is offered, and it has no ratings yet. What you pay for is the transport and a bit of sightseeing on the way, because the entry itself is the cheap part.

The price of catacombs of Rome tickets on GetYourGuide is $16 for four of the nine listings, and only the extras and the operator change it. Domitilla is the leftover in this section, not the cheapest or the dearest, but it is worth knowing about. The Domitilla listing is $16 for entry and a guide, lasts 30 minutes and scores 4.6 from 168 reviews, in English and Italian. The meeting point is the ticket office on Via delle Sette Chiese 282, and the listing asks you to show your reservation at least 10 minutes before the tour.
The official Domitilla site prices a guided visit at 10 euros for adults and 7 euros for ages 7 to 16, with free entry for children up to 6. It is closed on Tuesdays, and its hours are 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00 with the last visit starting 20 minutes before closing. It offers Italian, English, German, Spanish and French, which is more than the listing does. A reviewer wrote that the tour could last longer, which matches the 30 minutes on the listing.

“Our tour guide Andrea was amazing and very friendly, real professional passionate about history and art. Couldn’t have wished for someone better! Totally recommend!” – GetYourGuide review
Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
Are the Catacombs Worth It
Whether the catacombs are worth it depends on what you expect from catacombs of Rome tickets, and the clearest answer comes from the walking tour that includes them. The Via Appia Guide tour costs $97, lasts 4 hours and scores 4.8, though from only 12 reviews. It starts at a bike rental shop at Via Marco Aurelio 30a, walks past the Baths of Caracalla and the Aurelian Walls onto the Appian Way, then enters San Callisto with a guide and ends in Caffarella Park. Entry to the Museum of the Walls is included too.
I think catacombs of Rome tickets are worth it when you value the context: a French reviewer on the walking tour called it a walk off the usual tourist paths and a dive into the city’s history. The catch is that you are paying for the walk, not for more time in the catacomb. Another reviewer noted that the catacomb group had a different guide and that other groups stood close enough to hear. The tour is offered in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.

Catacombs Rome entry is sold as a plain ticket with a guide for the Saints Marcellino and Pietro catacombs, the only one of the catacombs of Rome tickets here listed as an entry ticket rather than a tour, and not one of the usual four. The listing costs $19 for 1 hour, with a guide and entry to the Mausoleum of St. Helena. It scores 5 from 2 reviews, so there is not enough feedback to rank it. English and Italian are offered. The meeting point is the ticket office at Via Casilina 641, and the listing asks you to arrive 30 minutes before the tour, longer than the 10 minutes at the others.
Among catacombs of Rome tickets, this is the one I’d choose for a third visit, once you’ve seen a famous catacomb, because it is in a different part of the city and few visitors reach it. I can’t tell you more about these catacombs of Rome tickets than the listing says, and I found no official site to cite for it, so check the listing’s meeting-point instructions before you go.

“Great tour with an enthusiastic and well informed guide. Really interesting visit.” – GetYourGuide review
You can visit the catacombs in Rome, but only with a guide and a booked slot, so catacombs of Rome tickets are really booking slots, and the Touring Company listing for Priscilla is the same catacomb as above from a second seller. It costs $29 for the entry ticket and a 45-minute guided visit, against $16 for the Opera Romana one. There are no reviews yet. Languages offered are Italian, Slovak and English, depending on the schedule, and you download the ticket and arrive 15 minutes before.
At $13 more than the cheaper Priscilla ticket, I would only choose this one if the other is not available for your slot. The listing also says photography and video are not permitted inside and that the underground is about 13 degrees Celsius, which agrees with the official Priscilla page. Before you buy catacombs of Rome tickets, note that Wikipedia says five Christian catacombs are open to the public in Rome (San Sebastiano, San Callisto, Priscilla, Domitilla and Sant’Agnese), so the listings here cover four of those five.

Are the Catacombs Worth Visiting With an Audio Tour
Of the catacombs of Rome tickets, the WeGoTrip one is the one I’d skip unless the audio appeals to you. It costs $31, lasts 2 hours and gives you an entry ticket to San Callisto plus a self-guided audio walk of Rome on your phone. Inside the catacomb you join a live guide, because the audio is not played underground. It is the only listing with no language list, and the meeting-point text says the ticket works only through the WeGoTrip app.
An Italian reviewer rated it two stars out of five and argued that the catacomb entry can be bought on site for 10 euros with an expert guide, while the audio adds only short tracks without much depth. That is the deciding point for me: pay for the audio only if you want a phone-guided city walk to go with the visit.

The table lists every one of the catacombs of Rome tickets, and there are no separate tour-type pages, because the guided tours here are the same listings you see above. If you are still comparing Paris with Rome, the Paris Catacombs are a different attraction: one underground ossuary with timed entry, not several separate cemeteries.
Near the Catacombs of Rome
The three nearest catacombs are on or by the Appian Way, and distances below are straight lines from San Sebastiano, with walking times as my estimate (straight line times 1.3 at 4.8 km/h). The Praetextatus Catacombs are about 0.3 km (5 minutes) away, San Callisto about 0.5 km (9 minutes) and Domitilla about 0.9 km (15 minutes). I could not find a GetYourGuide listing for Praetextatus, and Google Maps shows it closed on Sundays. Priscilla is about 8 km north and Sant’Agnese about 7.5 km, so use the metro and bus for those.
The Colosseum is about 4.3 km away (roughly 70 minutes on foot, so take bus 118), and the Roman Forum about 4.7 km. The Capuchin Crypt, the bone-filled alternative one reviewer mentioned, is about 5.9 km away near Piazza Barberini.
Cheapest catacombs of Rome tickets: any of the four $16 Opera Romana tickets, or the 10 euro official ticket at the gate.
Most reviewed of the catacombs of Rome tickets: San Callisto at $16, 4.6 from 3,781 reviews.
Two catacombs in a morning: San Callisto plus San Sebastiano, about 9 minutes apart on foot by my estimate.
Best art: Priscilla at $16, 4.7 from 540 reviews, mainly for the paintings.
A guide who adds the walk: the Via Appia Guide tour at $97, 4 hours, in five languages.
Less time: the golf cart tour at $106, 1 hour, English only.
Something off the usual route: Saints Marcellino and Pietro at $19.
Frequently asked questions
Can you just show up to the catacombs in Rome?+
I wouldn't count on it. The catacombs open to visitors are seen on guided visits only, and San Callisto's official site states that online booking is required. San Sebastiano offers a free online reservation with payment on site, and Priscilla asks individual visitors to use its booking form. Book ahead, especially for afternoon slots.
How much do tickets to the catacombs of Rome cost?+
On GetYourGuide, entry with a guided tour to San Callisto, San Sebastiano, Priscilla or Domitilla is $16, the Saints Marcellino and Pietro ticket is $19, and Priscilla from a second seller is $29. The official sites price their own visit at 10 euros for adults and 7 euros for ages 7 to 16, so the reseller price buys a reserved slot and free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
Is it worth it to see the catacombs in Rome?+
I think so, if you choose one catacomb and go in with a guide. The listings I compared score 4.5 to 4.8, and reviewers keep mentioning the guide and the cool air underground. It is a short, quiet visit of 30 to 45 minutes, so it suits people who want something different from Rome's big monuments, not people who expect piles of bones.
Which catacombs in Rome should I visit?+
For a first visit I'd pick San Callisto: it is the most reviewed on GetYourGuide at 4.6 from 3,781 reviews, and it sits on the Appian Way. San Sebastiano is about a 9 minute walk away by my estimate, so you can see both in a morning. Priscilla is on the other side of the city, on Via Salaria, and Domitilla is on Via delle Sette Chiese.
Which day are the Roman catacombs closed?+
Each catacomb has its own closing day. Per the official sites, San Sebastiano closes on Monday, Domitilla on Tuesday and Priscilla on Monday. Google Maps lists San Callisto as closed on Wednesday, and one listing says the same. I could not open San Callisto's official hours page, so check it before you travel.
Are the catacombs in Rome free to enter?+
Not for adults. The official Domitilla and Priscilla sites charge 10 euros for an adult and 7 euros for ages 7 to 16, and both let children up to 6 in free. I found no free day for the catacombs on any of the official sites I read.
How long does a visit to the Roman catacombs take?+
The guided visits are short. The listings give 30 minutes for San Callisto and Domitilla, 40 for San Sebastiano and 45 for Priscilla, and the official sites give about 40 to 45 minutes at San Sebastiano and Priscilla. Add travel time, because the catacombs are several kilometres from the Colosseum.
Can you take photos in the catacombs of Rome?+
It depends on the catacomb. The Priscilla listing says photography and video are not allowed inside, and the golf cart listing for San Callisto says no flash photography. Ask your guide at the start, and keep the phone away unless you are told it is fine.
