Palatine Hill Tickets – Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill Entry & Audioguide App

The cheapest way onto Palatine Hill on GetYourGuide is the $25 Nicom ticket with an audio guide, and the most-reviewed option is the $28 GetYourGuide entry with an audio guide app: 4.4 stars from 14,873 reviews. The park’s own site, ticketing.colosseo.it, sells entry too. For a first visit I’d book the $43 Tours And Tours guided tour, the Palatine Hill ticket I’d pick for most people.

I compared all 10 Palatine Hill tickets and tours you can book on GetYourGuide right now. The hill shares one park ticket with the Roman Forum and, in most listings, the Colosseum, so there is no Palatine-only product that sits apart. Six are entry tickets (four with an audio guide app, one with an optional guide and one self-guided with an escort to the gate and a video), and four are tours that include entry: three with a live guide and one self-guided arena floor package. Prices are in US dollars, taken from the listings in November 2026. The buttons open GetYourGuide through affiliate links (more on that on my about page).

Palatine Hill tickets are easy to confuse with Colosseum tickets, and this page is about the hill itself and which of the Palatine Hill tickets gets you on it. The full ticket comparison for the arena floor and the underground is on my Colosseum tickets page, and the ruins in the valley below are covered in my Roman Forum tickets comparison, so I won’t repeat either here.

Palatine Hill Tickets at a Glance

Here is every one of the Palatine Hill tickets in one table, so you can see what you are paying for before the detail.

What Details
Ticket types 6 entry tickets (audio guide app, optional guide or video), 4 tours that include entry (3 live-guided, 1 self-guided arena floor package)
Price range $25 (audio guide app) to $77 (1.5-hour Forum and Palatine tour)
Areas included Palatine Hill and Roman Forum on every ticket; Colosseum on seven of the ten; the arena floor is an option on two and the point of one more
Official ticket Sold at ticketing.colosseo.it as a park ticket; named tickets, ID checked at the entrances
Time to allow 1.5 to 3 hours on most listings; one is valid for a day
Address Via di S. Gregorio, 30, 00186 Rome (per Google Maps)
Google Maps hours 9 am to 7:30 pm, every day (the official winter hours are shorter, see below)

What separates one Palatine Hill ticket from another is rarely the hill. It is whether the Colosseum is on the same ticket, whether you get a live guide, and what happens if you cancel.

Palatine Hill Tickets and Prices

Palatine Hill tickets and prices start low and climb with the guide. The most-reviewed entry ticket is the $28 GetYourGuide audio guide app listing, which scores 4.4 from 14,873 reviews and runs 75 minutes. It includes Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry and a multilingual audio guide app in eight languages, but not the arena floor, the underground or a live guide. It is non-refundable. You show your ticket at the Colosseum entrance, in front of the Arch of Constantine, and for the Forum side the listing says to enter via Via Sacra and use the ticket-holder line on the right.

Skip-the-Line Palatine Hill Tickets

Skip-the-line Palatine Hill tickets are mostly about the ticket office, and the Nicom listing at $25 is the cheapest way I found to avoid it. It combines Colosseum entry, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry, a downloadable audio guide app and a host who helps you at the meeting point. It lists 2.5 hours, scores 4.3 from 5,776 reviews and allows free cancellation up to 3 days before. It does not include headsets or a live guide. The meeting point is Via delle Terme di Tito 93, reached from the terrace above Colosseo station.

“Fantastic company, friendly, professional and very well organised.” – GetYourGuide review

One Nicom reviewer wrote that a booking with another company got them refused at the gate because the ticket agent was unauthorised, and that this one worked. I can’t verify that story, but it is a reminder that the name on the voucher matters less than the named tickets arriving in your inbox.

Palatine Rome Tickets

Palatine Rome tickets from Doooing cost $45 and are the bundle with the most room to change plans. The listing covers Colosseum first and second order, the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Imperial Fora, with the arena floor as an option and a downloadable audio guide for the Colosseum. It runs 1 to 3 hours, scores 4.3 from 5,321 reviews and has the longest free cancellation of the set, up to 8 days before. It has three meeting points depending on the option, so read your confirmation.

“Excellent. We did the self guide. Was lovely walk through the historic areas at our own pace and the tour operators have been very helpful” – GetYourGuide review

Read the small print: the audio guide is for the Colosseum, headphones are not supplied and the underground is excluded. A reviewer who chose the self-guided option liked that it was easy:

This experience is extremely easy. You’re not meeting anyone at the Colosseum. You just go to the line, show your ticket, and go in.

Palatine Hill Entry Fee

The Palatine Hill entry fee is part of the park ticket, so Palatine Hill tickets and the Forum share a price, and I could not read the official price list while writing, so I won’t quote one as official. What the listings show is the price of the bundle. The Roman Way listing at $48 spells out the entry as 18 euros for a standard adult and free for children under 18, which is the nearest thing to a figure I can quote, and it is the reseller’s statement and not the park’s. Check ticketing.colosseo.it for the current official fee.

The cheapest of the Palatine Hill tickets without the Colosseum is the Touristation experience at $42. It is a self-guided ticket: entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, an escort to the Forum entrance, a multimedia video about ancient Rome and access to the Palatine Museums, the House of Augustus, the House of Livia and the Domus Tiberiana. It is valid for 24 hours, scores 4.1 from 1,446 reviews and is non-refundable. You collect it at the Touristation Aracoeli office, Piazza d’Aracoeli 16, and the listing says not to go to the Forum gate first.

Palatine Hill Tickets Online

Booking Palatine Hill tickets online is simple, and a Palatine Hill ticket from either door is the same entry, so the real question is which of two doors to use. You can buy from the park’s own site, ticketing.colosseo.it, or from a reseller such as the ones compared here. The official hours page, as I read it for my Colosseum guide, says tickets are named, an ID document is checked at the entrances and tickets go on sale 30 days before the visit date, so a date further out will not show there yet. Resellers sell the same entry inside a tour or an audio guide package, which is why they can have places when a plain ticket looks scarce, though I can’t confirm any sold-out status from the official pages.

Whichever route you take to Palatine Hill tickets online, enter each visitor’s name as it appears on the ID they will carry. The Roman Way listing sends the tickets by WhatsApp or email the day before and says the voucher is not your ticket, so check your messages the evening before you go. Then check whether the Colosseum is in your bundle, and which meeting point your option uses.

Is Roman Forum and Palatine Hill Worth It

Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are worth it, and the tickets are worth the money, if you are paying for the Colosseum on the same ticket anyway. The Discover Rome Tours experience at $56 is a flexible way to do all three. It runs from 75 minutes to 2.5 hours, scores 4.4 from 1,962 reviews and speaks English, Spanish, Russian, Italian and French. The listing includes Colosseum entry with an audio guide, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry valid for 24 hours, and a tour guide if you select that option. It says the security queue is not skipped, and you can cancel up to 3 days before.

“Excellent tour!!! Guide was very knowledgeable and engaging” – GetYourGuide review

Tickets for Palatine Hill rarely come alone. The three sites sit within about 7 minutes of each other on foot, by my estimate, so a single ticket makes sense. If you only have time for one thing before closing, the Palatine is the one most visitors leave until last and then rush.

What Is Palatine Hill

Palatine Hill is the centremost of Rome’s seven hills and one of the city’s most ancient parts. Wikipedia says it has been called the first nucleus of the Roman Empire, and that it is now mainly a large open-air museum with a Palatine Museum holding finds from the excavations. Wikidata gives its elevation as 51 m, which is why the paths up from the Forum feel like a climb. Google Maps places the entrance listing at Via di S. Gregorio, 30.

The Tours And Tours guided tour at $43 is the one I’d book if you want someone to explain the hill. It lasts 2.5 hours, scores 4.2 from 759 reviews and includes a professional guide, entrance tickets and headsets. The stops run from the Via delle Terme di Tito meeting point to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and then Palatine Hill. It speaks Spanish, French, German, English and Italian, and you can cancel up to 3 days before.

Is Palatine Hill Worth Visiting

Palatine Hill is worth visiting, and its tickets are worth buying, if you want the quiet part of the ancient centre. Reviewers of the Roman Way audio guide ticket at $48 say it was peaceful and that there were places to rest, plus a water refill station. The listing is rated 4.4 from 438 reviews, runs 3 hours and covers the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum in that order, with an audio guide app you download yourself. It excludes headphones and a live guide, and you can cancel up to 3 days before.

Another reviewer of the same ticket said the audio guide would not download and they pieced the story together from the web. Download it at your hotel, not at the gate.

What Was Palatine Hill Used For

Palatine Hill was the address of Rome’s rulers, which is what a Palatine Hill ticket really buys, and the sites named in the listings show the range: the House of Augustus, the House of Livia and the Domus Tiberiana, plus the Palatine Museums. The City Walkers licensed guided tour at $60 is the one aimed squarely at explaining that. It lasts 105 minutes, covers the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill with entry tickets, a licensed guide and headsets, and scores 4.4 from 397 reviews. It runs in English, excludes the Colosseum and tips, and you can cancel up to 3 days before.

Is It Worth Going to Palatine Hill With the Arena Floor

Using one of these Palatine Hill tickets, the Touristation arena floor ticket at $58 is worth it only if the floor of the Colosseum is the reason for the booking. It includes Colosseum arena floor access, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry, an escort to the Forum entrance, a multimedia video and an English city walk past Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. It scores 4.1 from 419 reviews and lasts 3 hours. The listing excludes the first and second level of the Colosseum, the underground and any guided tour, and it is non-refundable.

“An easy way of seeing the various sites of Rome, this was a self guide which flowed very well.” – GetYourGuide review

That ticket is self-guided on the hill, so I’d treat the Palatine part as free time rather than a lesson.

Opening Hours and Getting There

Google Maps lists Palatine Hill open 9 am to 7:30 pm every day, but that does not match the official page. For the winter period, 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, the official hours page I used for my Colosseum guide shows the Palatine opening at 9:00, the park closing at 4:30 pm and last entry at 3:30 pm. Rome’s tourism board, Turismo Roma, lists the same hours, and the summer schedule runs to 7:15 pm from 29 March to 30 September 2026. Check colosseo.it for your date. The nearest metro station is Colosseo on line B, about 7 minutes’ walk by my estimate. My Palatine Hill opening hours and visitor guide has the day-by-day table, the entrances and the best time to go.

Which Ticket Fits You

Choosing among Palatine Hill tickets comes down to the Colosseum, the guide and the refund terms, so tickets for Palatine Hill are best compared on those three. This table is built from the listings; the sections above hold the detail.

Seven of the ten Palatine Hill tickets bundle the Colosseum, so the real choice is whether you want it. Tickets for Palatine Hill that skip it cost more per minute, but they spend the time on the hill.

Near Palatine Hill

Once your Palatine Hill tickets are booked, these are the sights within reach. The distances below are straight-line from the Google Maps pin for the hill, turned into walking time by my estimate: straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 at 4.8 km/h. The pin sits inside the park, so the Palatine Museum and the House of Livia are a few minutes away on the hill itself. The Roman Forum is about 6 minutes down the slope, the Arch of Constantine about 5 and the Colosseum about 7, and my Colosseum tickets page covers the arena floor. The Circus Maximus lies just south of the hill, and my Circus Maximus tickets page covers it. The Monument to Victor Emmanuel II is about 12 minutes away and the Pantheon about 23, with its own Pantheon tickets page. The Domus Aurea is a separate ticket.

How I’d Choose

Here is how I’d pick among these Palatine Hill tickets, by type of visitor.

Frequently asked questions

How much are Palatine Hill tickets?

On GetYourGuide the 10 options I compared run from $25 for entry with a downloadable audio guide to $77 for a 1.5-hour Forum and Palatine tour with a live guide. The cheapest ones also open the Colosseum. One listing quotes 18 euros as the standard adult price for the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry, but I couldn't read the official price list, so check ticketing.colosseo.it.

Do you need a ticket for Palatine Hill?

Yes. The hill is inside the Parco archeologico del Colosseo and is entered with a park ticket, so you can't walk in from the street. All 10 listings I compared include the Palatine entry. The official hours page, as I read it for my Colosseum guide, says tickets are named and checked against an ID document.

Can I buy Palatine Hill tickets without the Colosseum?

Three of the 10 listings leave the Colosseum out: the $42 Touristation ticket with video, the $60 City Walkers licensed tour and the $77 Touriks tour. The other seven include Colosseum entry. I couldn't confirm whether the official site sells a Forum and Palatine ticket on its own, so check it if you want to skip the Colosseum.

Is Palatine Hill worth seeing?

I think so if you like ruins with some space around them. Google Maps rates it 4.7 from 14,908 reviews. One reviewer called it very peaceful with plenty of places to rest. It is mostly foundations and fragments, so a guide or an audio guide adds a lot.

How long does Palatine Hill take?

The listings that include it run from 75 minutes to 3 hours, and the Touristation ticket is valid for a day. For the Palatine, the Forum and the Colosseum together I'd allow 2.5 to 3 hours with a guide, longer if you wander on your own.

Is Palatine Hill free?

Only on the park's free days. The official hours page, as I read it for my Colosseum guide, lists the first Sunday of each month and dates such as 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. Names and slots still apply, and I couldn't reopen the page, so check colosseo.it before you plan around a free day.

What is the best Palatine Hill ticket to buy?

For a first visit that includes the Colosseum I'd book the $43 Tours And Tours guided tour: 4.2 stars from 759 reviews, 2.5 hours, five languages and free cancellation up to 3 days before. For the Palatine and Forum alone, the $77 Touriks tour has the best rating at 4.6. If you only want to get in, the $25 Nicom ticket is cheapest.

What time does Palatine Hill open?

Google Maps lists 9 am to 7:30 pm every day. The official page, as I read it for the winter period of 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, shows the Palatine opening at 9:00 with the park closing at 4:30 pm and last entry at 3:30 pm. Trust the official page and check it for your date.
