The cheapest way into the Roman Forum on GetYourGuide is the $35 audio guide ticket, and the most-reviewed option is the Touristation ticket with video at $40: 4.1 stars from 13,292 reviews. The official site, colosseo.it, sells the park ticket too. For a first visit I’d book the $40 MDA guided tour with 4.7 stars, the best of the Roman Forum tickets for most people.

Colosseum, Roman Forum And Palatine Hill Guided Tour
I compared all 10 Roman Forum tickets and tours you can book on GetYourGuide right now. None of them is a Forum-only ticket: the Forum shares one park ticket with the Colosseum and Palatine Hill, so every Roman Forum ticket here also opens the Colosseum. Two are entry tickets with an audio guide, one is an escorted entry with a video, and seven are guided tours. These Roman Forum tickets are priced in US dollars, taken from the listings in November 2026. The buttons open GetYourGuide through affiliate links (more on that on my about page).
This page is about the Forum itself and which ticket to pick. If your main question is the Colosseum, my Colosseum tickets comparison covers the arena floor and the underground in depth, so I won’t repeat it here.
Roman Forum Tickets at a Glance

The practical difference between Roman Forum tickets and the official ticket is not the Forum, which is the same for everyone. It is whether you get a guide, whether the Colosseum arena floor is added, and how much time you spend.
Skip-the-Line Roman Forum Tickets
Skip-the-line Roman Forum tickets are really about the ticket office queue, and the audio guide ticket from MDA at $35 is the cheapest way I found to avoid it. It combines timed Colosseum entry, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum entry, assistance at the meeting point and a downloadable audio guide app. It lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, scores 4.4 from 8,140 reviews, and you can cancel up to 3 days ahead for a full refund. The listing asks you to check in at Via della Polveriera, 13, at least 30 minutes before your start time, and it does not supply a phone or headphones.

Roman Forum Entry Tickets
Roman Forum entry tickets from Touristation cost $40 and are the most-reviewed in my set, at 13,292 reviews and 4.1 stars. The listing includes Colosseum entry, Forum and Palatine Hill entry, a team member who escorts you to the Forum entrance, a multimedia video about ancient Rome and a guided walking tour of Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. It is not a guided tour of the ruins: the listing says the guided tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill is not included, and neither is the underground. It is non-refundable and runs in English and Italian. You meet at the Touristation Aracoeli office, Piazza d’Aracoeli 16, near Piazza Venezia, 15 to 30 minutes before your slot.

“Simple instructions on what the options were and how to enter the Colosseum and the Forum areas.” – GetYourGuide review
I’d pick this one for the meeting-point help and the city walk, not for the rating, which is the lowest of the guided-style options. A reviewer’s advice is worth repeating: spring for the full access option, and avoid the late summer start times because of the heat.
Roman Forum Tour
A Roman Forum tour is the version of the Roman Forum tickets that earns its price, because the Forum is a field of foundations and fragments, and a guide tells you which pile of stones was the Senate. The Vivicos guided tour at $56 is the one I’d look at first for the long version: 2.5 to 3 hours, 4.5 stars from 10,195 reviews, in seven languages (Portuguese, English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Japanese). The listing includes reserved Colosseum entry, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry and an expert guide with headphones, plus an arena floor option. The listed stops start at the Basilica dei Santi Cosma e Damiano on Via dei Fori Imperiali, then the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. You can cancel up to 3 days before. I compare every guided option on my Roman Forum tours page.

“Ellen was wonderful, sharing so much history and bringing Ancient Rome to life. Definitely recommend.” – GetYourGuide review
The meeting point varies with the option you select, so read your confirmation before you travel. One reviewer wrote that the guide’s working knowledge of archaeology made the buildings come alive, which matches the pattern across the guided listings: the guide matters more than the route.
Roman Forum Tickets Rome
Roman Forum tickets in Rome are sold as part of a wider ancient-Rome bundle, and the MDA guided tour at $40 is the one I’d book for most people. It scores 4.7 from 3,396 reviews, lasts 2.5 to 3 hours and offers English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. The listing includes entry to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum, with the Colosseum arena, the guided Colosseum visit and the guided Palatine and Forum visit as options, plus headsets so you can hear in a crowd. “Joseph was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Very good excursion.” – GetYourGuide review
Because the guide is an option on these Roman Forum tickets, read the option names. An option that says entry gives you the access and nothing more, while the guided Palatine and Forum option is the one with the explanation.
Is the Roman Forum Free
The Roman Forum is free only on the park’s free days, and otherwise you pay for a ticket. Per the official hours page, as I read it for my Colosseum opening hours guide, entry is free on the first Sunday of the month, with more free dates such as 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. A timed slot and a named ticket are still needed on those days, and I would expect queues. I could not reopen the official page for this guide, so check colosseo.it for the date you want. Free days are the only time tickets for the Roman Forum cost nothing.
If you would rather pay and have it settled, the arena floor tour at $39 is the lowest-priced guided option in this set. It is rated 4.7 from 2,717 reviews, lasts 1 to 3 hours depending on the option, and runs in English and Spanish. The full tour includes pre-reserved Colosseum and arena floor tickets, a guided visit of the Colosseum’s first and second tiers, and a guided visit of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill; the basic versions are shorter. It has three meeting points depending on the option, and tips are the only thing excluded. You can cancel up to 3 days before.

“Our guide Kate was extremely engaging, informative, knowledgeable and entertaining. She made the whole tour extremely fun!” – GetYourGuide review
Booking Roman Forum tickets online is simple. You can buy Roman Forum tickets online either from the park’s official site, ticketing.colosseo.it, or from a reseller, and the reseller route is what this page compares. The official hours page says tickets are named, an ID document is checked at the entrances and tickets go on sale 30 days before the visit date. That means a date further out will not show on the official site yet. Resellers sell the same entry inside a tour, which is why they can have availability when a plain ticket looks scarce, but I can’t confirm any sold-out status from the official pages.
The main thing to settle when you book Roman Forum tickets online is the names, because tickets for the Roman Forum are checked against ID. Each visitor’s name goes on the ticket, so enter them as they appear on the ID you will carry. Then check whether your option includes the arena floor, and whether the meeting point is the one you expected. A booking confirmation that names the wrong gate costs more time than the ticket does.
Is the Roman Forum Worth It
The Roman Forum is worth it, and its tickets are worth the money, if you value ancient history and have the Colosseum on the same ticket anyway. Visitors rate the Rome guided tour at $53 at 4.5 from 4,248 reviews, and it runs 2 to 2.5 hours in English, Italian and Russian. The listing includes the Colosseum entry ticket if that option is selected, access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, and a guide. It is non-refundable, and it says you still go through the security check like everyone else.

Why Is the Roman Forum Important
The Roman Forum was the centre of public life in ancient Rome, and understanding that is what makes the ruins worth the price of Roman Forum tickets. According to Wikipedia, it hosted triumphal processions, elections, speeches, trials and gladiatorial games, and the open space was about 130 by 50 m in the imperial period. The site was originally marshy and was drained by the Cloaca Maxima. The Arch of Septimius Severus was dedicated in AD 203 and eight columns of the Temple of Saturn still stand.
The Global tour at $43 is the one of these Roman Forum tickets that puts the history in order. It is rated 4.7 from 2,718 reviews, lasts 2.5 hours and runs in German, French, Spanish, English and Italian. The listing includes Colosseum entry, an optional arena floor, entry to the Forum and Palatine Hill, and headsets. Its stop list runs from Via della Polveriera to the Colosseum and arena floor, then the Forum and Palatine.

“Guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained and pointed out many things we would not normally see.” – GetYourGuide review
A reviewer of this tour said they would not visit without a guide because you would miss the history and detail. That is one traveller’s view, but it fits the pattern in the other reviews.
Is the Roman Forum Worth Visiting Without a Guide
The Roman Forum is worth visiting without a guide if you do the reading first and want to move at your own pace. The Loving Rome audio guide ticket at $40 gives you Colosseum, Forum and Palatine access and a downloadable audio guide for the Colosseum, with the arena floor as an option. “A lifetime dream to visit one of the most famous wonders of the world. I did find it frustrating to have to show my ticket so many times especially since they won my phone.” – GetYourGuide review
Read the small print: the listing says the audio guide covers the Colosseum, and it excludes a live guide, headsets and the underground. A reviewer wrote that the confirmation email says you need to download an app, bring earphones and a charged phone, and bring your ID. That is what I would do too, and I would not count on an audio guide at the Forum itself.
Is It Worth Seeing the Roman Forum With a Guide
Seeing the Roman Forum with a licensed guide is the version I recommend for first visits, and this Roman Forum ticket, the Art tour at $61 is the premium choice. It scores 4.7 from 1,281 reviews and lasts 2.5 hours, in English. The standard tour includes the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entrance tickets and a licensed professional guide, and the arena access tour swaps in the arena floor. “Worth the money, had a great guide and made the experience 20x better” – GetYourGuide review
That meeting point matters for this page. It is beside the Forum, so you start where the ruins begin and finish at the Colosseum, rather than the other way round.
What Is the Roman Forum Like on a Small-Group Tour
The most expensive Roman Forum entry ticket in my set, at $144, is a small-group tour of the Colosseum arena and the Forum, and it makes sense only if you want a small group. It scores 4.8 from 736 reviews, lasts 3 hours, is in English and offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before. The listing includes an official tour guide, Colosseum entry, arena floor access and a guided tour of the Roman Forum. It states plainly that the Palatine Hill guided tour is not included, so it is the one listing here that does not guide the whole park.

Opening Hours and Getting There
Google Maps lists the Roman Forum open 9 am to 4:30 pm every day, and your Roman Forum tickets are timed to that. For the winter period, 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, the park hours, as Turismo Roma repeats them, show the Forum and Palatine Hill opening at 9:00, with closures on 25 December 2026 and 1 January 2027. The nearest metro station is Colosseo on line B, about 7 minutes’ walk by my estimate. My Roman Forum opening hours and visitor guide has the day-by-day table, the entrances and the best time to go.

Seven of the ten Roman Forum tickets are guided tours, so what separates these Roman Forum tickets is the guide, the languages and what happens if your plans change. I cover the timing question in the opening hours guide.
Near the Roman Forum
Once your Roman Forum tickets are booked, these are the sights within reach.
The Forum sits between the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia, and the walking times below are my estimates: straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 at 4.8 km/h. The Colosseum is about 9 minutes away, and my Colosseum tickets page compares the arena floor and underground options. The Arch of Constantine is about 7 minutes, the Victor Emmanuel II monument about 6 and Piazza Venezia about 9. For the Pantheon, about 17 minutes away, see Pantheon tickets. The Trevi Fountain is about 17 minutes and Piazza Navona 22.
The Forum is part of the Historic Centre of Rome, which UNESCO lists as a World Heritage property.
How I’d Choose
Here is how I’d pick among these Roman Forum tickets, by type of visitor.
Cheapest Roman Forum ticket: the $35 MDA audio guide entry, with your own earphones.
First visit: the $40 MDA guided tour, 4.7 stars from 3,396 reviews, with the guided Forum option selected.
Most history: the $43 Global tour, 4.7 from 2,718 reviews, in five languages.
Flexibility: the $40 Loving Rome audio guide ticket for its 8-day free cancellation.
Rarer languages: the $56 Vivicos tour, with seven languages including Portuguese and Japanese.
Small group or arena floor, still on Roman Forum tickets: the $144 small-group tour, or the $39 arena floor tour if you want the floor for less.
Frequently asked questions
How much are Roman Forum tickets?+
On GetYourGuide the 10 options I compared run from $35 for entry with an audio guide app to $144 for a small-group tour with the arena floor. Most live-guided tours cost $39 to $61. Every one of them also covers the Colosseum, because the Forum is sold on the same park ticket. I couldn't read the official price list, so check ticketing.colosseo.it for the plain ticket.
Do you need tickets for the Roman Forum?+
Yes. The Forum is inside the Parco archeologico del Colosseo and is entered with a park ticket, so you can't just walk in. The official hours page says tickets are named and checked against an ID document at the entrances. Booking ahead is the safest way, and all 10 options I compared include the Forum entry.
Is the Roman Forum free?+
Only on the park's free days. The official hours page, as I read it for my Colosseum guide, lists the first Sunday of each month and a few dates such as 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. A timed slot and a named ticket are still needed, so check colosseo.it before planning around a free day.
Can I buy Roman Forum tickets without the Colosseum?+
Not from the 10 listings I compared: each one bundles the Colosseum with the Forum, and nine also add Palatine Hill. The $144 small-group tour guides only the Colosseum and Forum. I couldn't confirm whether the official site sells a Forum-only ticket, so check it if you don't want the Colosseum.
Is the Roman Forum worth visiting?+
I think so, if you like seeing how a city's centre worked. Google Maps rates it 4.8 from 147,436 reviews. It is mostly ruins, so a guide or audio guide adds a lot. Reviewers of the guided tours praise the guides' knowledge more than anything else.
How long does it take to see the Roman Forum?+
The listings that include the Forum run from 1.5 to 3 hours, and the audio-guide tickets are self-paced. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours for a guided visit of the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill together.
What is the best Roman Forum ticket to buy?+
For a first visit I'd book the $40 MDA guided tour: 4.7 stars from 3,396 reviews, 2.5 to 3 hours, five languages and free cancellation up to 3 days before. If you only want to get in, the $35 audio guide ticket is the cheapest.
What time does the Roman Forum open?+
Google Maps lists 9 am to 4:30 pm every day. The official page, as read for the winter period of 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, shows the Forum and Palatine Hill opening at 9:00. My opening hours guide has the detail.
