The Trevi Fountain is free to look at, and Trevi Fountain tickets only matter for the basin area, which since 2 February 2026 costs 2 euros for non-residents, sold by the city on the official site. On GetYourGuide the cheapest option is a $13 guided walk with that entry, and the most reviewed is the $39 Touriks underground tour (4.3 from 2,154 reviews). None is a plain ticket. I’d book the $33 Tix & Tours underground tour (4.7 from 370 reviews).
I compared all 10 Trevi Fountain tickets and tours on GetYourGuide. The Trevi Fountain is an outdoor public monument, so these are not entry tickets in the way a museum ticket is. Six of the ten are walking tours that start next to the fountain and, in most cases, include the official basin access. The other four are an audio-guided coin ritual and private photoshoots. Prices for these Trevi Fountain tickets are in US dollars, checked in November 2026. Links that open GetYourGuide are affiliate links, explained on my about page.

The big difference between Trevi Fountain tickets is not the fountain, which everyone sees, but what comes with it. Some Trevi Fountain tickets add the underground ruins, one adds a coin ritual, and some add a photographer.
Trevi Fountain Tickets and Prices
Trevi Fountain tickets and prices start with the official 2 euro charge, per the city’s Trevi Fountain page. That is the baseline for Trevi Fountain tickets, and everything else on this page is a layer on top of it. The TOURISTATION tour at $38 is the one that stacks the most onto the basic ticket: it starts at the entrance of Vicus Caprarius, takes about an hour, and lists a reserved entry to the underground site, a guided visit there and the official access ticket to the fountain. It scores 4.5 from 702 reviews and runs in English. You can add a gelato at the end if you pick that option, and you can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund.

“our guide was an archeologist so she was well-informed about the area. Her description of everything was easy to understand and to appreciate the history of the area.” – GetYourGuide review
One thing the listing states plainly is that skip-the-line entry is not included. Read that as a limit on the ruins entrance, not as a promise about the fountain queue. The opposite end of the price range is a private shoot: the Photography Pha editorial session costs $69 and scores 5.0 from 208 reviews. It offers 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1.5 hours with 20, 40 or 60 edited photos, in English, and the meeting point changes with the option.

“Fatima was fantastic she knew what we wanted to achieve from our proposal photoshoot . She was absolutely amazing. We definitely would recommend Fatima. Thank you Jas & Tony..” – GetYourGuide review
That listing does not name the Trevi Fountain access ticket among its inclusions, so if you want to stand at the basin during the shoot, I’d check the official price and rules first.
Skip-the-Line Trevi Fountain Tickets
Skip-the-line Trevi Fountain tickets are a looser idea here than at a museum, because the fountain has no timed entry. The official page describes a dedicated queue for people who already hold a ticket or a free entitlement, so a ticket in hand saves you the cash desk but not necessarily the line to get in. The cheapest product that handles the access part is the Discover Rome Tours walk at $13: 30 minutes in English, official entry to the fountain and a guided tour, 4.5 stars from 664 reviews. The guide meets you at Piazza Poli, a small square just behind the fountain, and the listing says the guide takes you straight to the entry area. A Spanish Steps walk is an option on top.

“Sandro was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, he made the experience very enjoyable. The way Sandro explained the history behind the fountain made the whole tour captivating.” – GetYourGuide review
Reviewers of this ticket keep naming the guides and their knowledge, which is a good sign for a tour this short. For a different kind of skip, the Rome Photographer golden hour session at $39 meets you at Piazza di Trevi and delivers 10 to 100 retouched photos within 48 hours, depending on the package. It scores 5.0 from 179 reviews and lasts from 15 minutes. The listing describes soft light and a quieter area, but it does not state that it includes the access ticket.

“Shaggy was an amazing photographer super professional and she took amazing photos of me at the Trevi fountain , highly recommended her !” – GetYourGuide review
The Trevi Fountain cost has two parts: the 2 euro official ticket for non-residents, and whatever a guide or photographer adds. The Borghese Routes ritual at $21 is the nearest thing to a pure ticket product among Trevi Fountain tickets, because the listing says it includes the admission ticket to the basin area and nothing else you need to queue for. The staff, recognisable by red baseball caps, meet you at 6 Via della Stamperia and hand you the ticket there, so the listing warns you not to go straight to the fountain entrance. Each slot takes up to 6 people. You also get two gold-plated reproduction Roman coins, one to throw and one to keep, and a downloadable audio guide in Italian, English or French. The listing states that no tour guide is included, so this is a self-paced ritual with staff help. It scores 4.6 from 165 reviews, and the free cancellation window is 24 hours.

“loved the fact that we were directed to parts of the fountain we would have missed” – GetYourGuide review
The second product in this price band is the VipinItaly City of Water tour at $33, 50 minutes, in Spanish, English, French and Italian, 4.3 stars from 258 reviews. It starts in the City of Water museum a few steps from the fountain and then walks you to the fountain, where a small gift is waiting. The listing says entrance tickets are included but does not say which, so I would not assume it covers the basin.

“The tour was great and easy to find our guide. Love learning about how the Trevi was found and dates back!” – GetYourGuide review
Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
Trevi Fountain Tickets Official Website
The official Trevi Fountain tickets website is fontanaditrevi.roma.it, run by Roma Capitale. It says access started on 2 February 2026 and that the 2 euro ticket gives entry to the inner perimeter of the fountain. You can buy it online through Vivaticket, at the Musei Civici and Tourist Info Points or from authorised sellers, and at the entrance by card only. Opening runs to 10 pm, with last entry at 9 pm. ANSA reported the same start date and the same 2 euro price, and described the access as “contingentato”, which means quota-limited (ANSA). The official page I read gives no number for how many people are let in at once.
What a reseller adds to Trevi Fountain tickets is a guide, a story and sometimes a place underground. The Once Upon a Time tour at $28 is a 50-minute guided walk around the fountain followed by a visit to the underground aqueduct, with headsets, in English. It scores 4.4 from 747 reviews, and a reviewer said it gave access to a private museum with the aqueduct. The listing does not mention the basin access ticket, so treat it as a tour of the fountain and the ruins, and check the 2 euro question separately.

The other product that shows up for this search is the Rome Photographer sunrise session at $55. It covers the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps in 3 locations, with 20, 45, 50 or 60 photos depending on the option, and it scores 5.0 from 106 reviews. It is a photo service, not an official ticket in any sense, and I would book it only if the photographs are the point.

“Sheida was really cool and so patient and helpful with the poses! Would recommend!” – GetYourGuide review
Trevi Fountain tickets online are sold in two places: the city’s own Vivaticket shop for the 2 euro entry, and GetYourGuide for tours that wrap that entry or the underground sites into one booking. The city’s ticket has no date or time, so an advance purchase is open and, per the official page, cannot be refunded or changed. A GetYourGuide product behaves differently, because each one carries its own start time and, for all ten I compared, free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
If you buy Trevi Fountain tickets in advance, I’d keep the confirmation on your phone. The listing for the Borghese Routes ritual tells you to meet staff before you go near the entrance, and the Touriks tour tells you to be at the meeting point five minutes early. With open-dated official tickets, the online purchase mainly saves you from fumbling at the entrance, where only card payment is accepted.
Trevi Fountain Tickets Underground
Trevi Fountain tickets for the underground are really tickets for Vicus Caprarius, the archaeological area beneath a building a few steps away, and it is where five of the ten products take you. The Touriks tour at $39 is the most reviewed Trevi Fountain product on the site, with 2,154 reviews averaging 4.3. It lasts 40 minutes, runs in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, and meets at Piazza di Trevi 82, on the right side of the fountain. The listing says you descend 9 metres to a 2,000-year-old aqueduct that still feeds the fountain, and it includes the underground entrance fee and headsets.

“Can’t remember her name but she was great, an asset to the tour and would book with her again. We could have listened to her all day!!” – GetYourGuide review
The catch is stated in the listing: access to the restricted basin area, the 2 euro fee, is not included, and the guide takes you to a viewing point at piazza level instead. Vicus Caprarius is an independent site with its own page, which lists opening hours of Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm, closed Mondays (Vicus Caprarius). The remains include an imperial domus and the castellum aquae of the Virgin Aqueduct. There is no toilet underground, according to one reviewer.
Do You Have to Pay to See the Trevi Fountain
You do not have to pay to see the Trevi Fountain, and since February 2026 you only pay to stand in the inner area by the basin. The official page says the fountain remains visible for free outside visiting hours, and the 2 euro charge applies to non-residents. Free entry covers Rome and Metropolitan City residents with an ID card, children under 6, people with disabilities and one companion, licensed tour guides with a badge and holders of a valid Roma MIC Card.
If you want the paid area and a guide, the Tix & Tours underground tour at $33 is my pick: 1 hour, English, an expert local guide, 4.7 stars from 370 reviews. It is the only listing among the underground tours that states access to the restricted basin area and the Vicus Caprarius entry ticket together. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

Opening Hours and Getting There
Before you book Trevi Fountain tickets, note that Google Maps lists the fountain open 9 am to 10 pm, except Monday and Friday when it starts at 11:30 am, and the official page gives last entry at 9 pm. The nearest metro stations are Barberini, about a 9-minute walk, and Spagna, about 10. Details are in my Trevi Fountain opening hours and visitor guide.

Seven of these Trevi Fountain tickets are about the fountain and its underground neighbour, and three are photo services. No product here is a guided tour of the surrounding streets alone.
Near Trevi Fountain
The fountain sits in the middle of old Rome, and almost everything on a first-day list is walkable. The distances below are my estimates from straight-line coordinates, multiplied by 1.3 and walked at 4.8 km/h. The Pantheon is the nearest big sight, covered on my Pantheon tickets page, and the Colosseum is the farthest, with its own Colosseum tickets comparison.
The Spanish Steps and Piazza Venezia are each about 9 minutes away, the Pantheon about 10, the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II and Trajan’s Forum about 11, Piazza Navona about 14, the Roman Forum about 17 and the Colosseum about 23.
How I’d Choose
Cheapest Trevi Fountain ticket: the $13 Discover Rome walk, which includes the official entry and a short guided tour.
Trevi Fountain tickets with a guide and the underground: the Tix & Tours tour at $33, or the Touriks tour at $39 if you want six languages and the most reviews.
Closest to a plain ticket: the $21 Borghese Routes ritual, with staff, replica coins and an audio guide.
Families and small groups: the Borghese Routes slots of up to 6, or a private photoshoot.
Photos: the Rome Photographer golden hour session at $39 for the fountain alone, or the $55 sunrise tour for three landmarks.
Several languages: the VipinItaly tour in four languages or the Touriks tour in six.
Frequently asked questions
Are tickets needed for the Trevi Fountain?+
Only for the area right at the basin. The official site says that since 2 February 2026 a 2 euro ticket gives access to the inner perimeter of the fountain, and the fountain can still be seen for free outside visiting hours. There is no timed reservation, and the page I read sets no visitor cap. I'd check fontanaditrevi.roma.it before you go.
Do you have to pay to see the Trevi Fountain?+
No, you can see it from the piazza without paying. The charge is for the closer area at the basin, 2 euros for non-residents per the official site. Free entry applies to Rome and Metropolitan City residents with ID, children under 6, people with disabilities plus one companion, licensed guides and Roma MIC Card holders.
How much does a Trevi Fountain ticket cost on GetYourGuide?+
The 10 Trevi Fountain products I compared run from $13 for a 30-minute guided walk that includes the official entry up to $69 for a private editorial photoshoot. Underground tours with a guide sit between $28 and $39. None of them is a bare 2 euro ticket, so the extra money pays for a guide, an underground site or photos.
Is Vicus Caprarius worth visiting?+
If you like archaeology, I think so. Vicus Caprarius, the City of Water, is an underground area a few steps from the fountain with the remains of an imperial domus and a castellum of the Aqua Virgo, per its own site. Five of the tours I compared go there. It is open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 5pm, closed Mondays.
How far apart are the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain?+
About 1.4 km in a straight line from Google Maps coordinates, which I estimate at roughly 23 minutes on foot using a factor of 1.3 at 4.8 km/h. Closer sights are the Pantheon at about 10 minutes and the Spanish Steps at about 9 minutes. See my Colosseum tickets page if you plan both in one day.
Can I book a time slot for the Trevi Fountain?+
Not for the official ticket. The official page says there is no timed reservation, and a ticket bought in advance carries no date or time and cannot be refunded or changed. Some tour products do have fixed start times, because a guide meets you at a set spot, so check the time you pick when you book.
Which Trevi Fountain tour is the best one?+
For a first visit I'd book the Tix & Tours underground tour at $33: 4.7 stars from 370 reviews, 1 hour, and the listing includes access to the restricted basin area plus Vicus Caprarius. If you only want to stand at the basin with someone who explains it, the $13 Discover Rome walk is the cheaper way.
